day 1 tomorrow =)
|
Good morning couch to 5Ker's
I am not too stiff this morning. I thought I might be but I'm not too bad. Looking forward to my second run tomorrow morning. How is everyone else doing?? |
Well I would like to join as well. First off my name is Reda (same pronunciation as Rita).
Today will by my first day as well and on a treadmil in the afternoons, evenings. I will have to look online at the above sites to see exactly what I need to be doing here. Do you walk/jog everyday or every other day? Thanks a bunch |
Hey Reda! Have you checked out the C25K website? According to the site, you should only run 3 times a week and give yourself a break in between run days.
http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml Last night I completed week 6 day 1, but I'm so excited about it I have to tell everyone who understands my pain! ;) heehee! |
Okay I am in! I am so excited! I have done this before and loved running then had a beautiful baby girl! Started again then stopped. I am in in for the long haul this time!!!! I will start tomorrow morning and will be working out on the treadmill at the gym as well.

Im In! Ill Start today. This would have us running the 5K the same week as Christmas. What a great goal! Plus that will help us to not gain weight during the Holidays. At my WW meetings they always talk about the national average weight gain during the holidays. Its around 12lbs a person. I know that I dont want to be part of that average.
Also, I wouldnt mind looking like a runner. :) You can get the cute workout clothes and everything. I am going to do a mix of inside and out. Its getting cool here and the gym is always full, so when I can, I will run outside. Good luck everyone! I know we can do it! |
For the gals just starting...when a week gets really hard for you, don't be afarid to redo that week! I think I will be redoing week 6 for another week.
|
Haven't gotten to run yet. Probably later and inside. I would rather run outside, but with a toddler it's hard to. I think I may need to come up with some ideas to take her with me. I do have a few hours Monday-Thursday when she is in school, but today is just a crazy day. :dizzy:
JamieJo- That's great!!! I can't wait to get there. :carrot: |
Hi Everyone!
I started C25K yesterday, W1 D1 and then I found this thread today! How wonderful to have others starting around the same time for support. I've been reading the other thread, but everyone is so far along. They're great inspiration, but it's nice to have a group to start with. I'll be doing C25K Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays inside on my treadmill. I have a 9 month old son who is just now getting really mobile, so I'll fit this in during his morning nap. I've just finished 30 days of the 30 day shred, and I plan on continuing that on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Day one went well. I walked at 4mph and ran at 5.5mph, so I ended up right at 2 miles for day one. I'll check back in tomorrow after W1D2. JamieJo- Great job! I'm so impressed, I can't wait to get to week 6. It seems so far away. Any helpful hints for us beginners? __________ Teresa |
Did another run this morning. It was cold, cold, cold but I did it anyway.
JamieJo - Yeah I saw that too but I run every day during the week. I figured it wouldn't hurt. |
Well, I did get out. I'm glad I got day one in. It is a lot different outside than in. I wonder if I will be able to do a 5k?
I do have a question. After running do any of you have coughing fits? It is colder outside and I thought it might be the cold. Welcome Teresa! |
Barbarajean I am trying to check out your podcast that you noted but having a problem opening the second one- that seems to be more of my kind of music to keep me going? Is there a secret to opening it? Thanks
Welcome Teresa!!!! Well I finish day 1 of my C5K but with only doing it every other day I will probably do 30 Day Shred on my inbetween days. It really wasn't bad, I was on the treadmil so I could see what my results were and for day 1 and following the ullreys podcast I was on there for 28 minutes went 1.66 miles burned 248 calories. I was at a 3.0 incline and walked at 3.5 mph and jogged at 5.0-5.2 mph. I am feeling pretty good right now and not to tired. Do I stay at these speeds for every workout now? Just want to say thanks to everyone who is posting such great information!;) Well have to get in the shower having supper with MIL it is her 60th BDay today! |
reda- I haven't been able to open that one. I thought it was my computer. It can be a pain at times and figured it was acting up with that site. I liked the music on that one a lot better too.
I'll see if I can find it somewhere else or maybe someone else has it or knows the trick to open it. |
Thanks barbarajean for the followup, I was also opening it up on the desktop computer which is old but that is the one that is in the same room as the treadmil. Anyways of course it didn't open so thought it was my computer as well but there must be a problem with that link.. I will do some checking out there in cyberspace as well to see what else I can find. Again thanks a bunch
Well I just tried pulling it up on my laptop and it is working on my laptop just fine, so it must be something with my desktop that is not allowing me to open it up.....So not sure I will have to mess around with more tomorrow because my laptop is not loud enough with the treadmil going. I could probable try to download to my MP3 player but it is much nicer not having anything in my ears while on the treadmil. I will let you know if I figure something out. |
I did my first day today, but decided to start on week 2. It wasnt too bad. I was able to do the whole thing at 3.8 for walking and 5.0-5.5 for jogging. I think I am going to see how I feel the next two days, but I think I am going to go for a 4.0 walk and 5.5 jog. Then again, it says to not worry about speed. Maybe that would make me sore and hurt more than help. What do you think?
