21lbs by Christmas?

hi all,
im aiming to loose 21lbs by christmas? would make a hige difference to me and i think it is achievable.
anyone wanna join me, motivation and support would be huge help. x

rikkig126 10-06-2008 11:39 AM

I would love to make that a goal. What plan are you on?

clarelou 10-06-2008 11:41 AM

im following weightwatchers points plan and planning to increase my exercise levels. how bout you? thanks for replying

JamieJo 10-06-2008 11:44 AM

My goal is very similar. I want to be about 22 pounds lighter then I was yesterday by Jan 15. I am also doing WW counting and working out. Doing the C25K program for running and the Barry's Boot Camp DVD's.

How many points do you get a day?

clarelou 10-06-2008 11:50 AM

hi jamiejo,
i get 22 points daily. hope your finding ur excericise programme managable.
is jan15th a significant date? let me know how u do

JamieJo 10-06-2008 12:13 PM

I get 22 points but am right on the edge of the 20 points so I'm aiming for 20 points. What are you doing for exercise? I really like the C25K deal...I find myself looking foward to it which is CRAZY to me!

I am going on a vacation on Jan 17th and really really really just want to be my weight before I go there....and it's only about 22 pounds so I think that is something I can get to if I try hard enough. My problem is getting under the 160 mark....I don't know what my deal is but I have such a hard time getting under it.

clarelou 10-06-2008 12:53 PM

i have just been doin my own workout at the gym but im gonna start some exercise classes and il give that C25K a go, thanks for pointing that out !
ooh im not looking orwardto reducing my points! goodluck jamiejo

owlhowl 10-06-2008 12:58 PM

me too!

this sounds like a good jumpstart goal for me. i have started cutting refined flours out of my life and started carefully portioning my food. for exercise, i will be working out on an elliptical, lifting small weights and doing a bunch of dvds like "30 day shred" and some crunch fitness pilates workouts.

any encouragement from the group would be amazing!:carrot:

fitand40hopeful 10-06-2008 01:49 PM

I'm In

I'm in on the 21 pounds by Christmas. I think it's attainable too if I can stay focused. I'm going to try portion size. I am also going to start every dinner with a salad first so I feel full on "regular" sized portions. I've started a moderate exercise plan, 20 min of pilates 4 to 5 X a week. Not sure if pilates is enough.

clarelou 10-06-2008 02:00 PM

thanks for replying owlhowl, we can achieve this goal and will support eachother whilst doing it.

fitand40hopeful, the salad starter is a great idea, let me know how the pilates works for you.

oooohhh im excited now to see how we all do. its nice to thinkof other peoples goals and know ur all supporting eachother

dont forget to post your progress
cx

princess2323 10-06-2008 03:31 PM

i'm in-- 21 lbs by christmas looks really good right now--- i'm starting the 30 day shred tonight-- will post there to ---- and watching portions--- i have a tendency to overindulge in food and regret it seconds later --- oh and will pull the elliptical out of the garage and put it in the house where it belongs---s o i can use that sucker

gatorgirl6 10-06-2008 11:35 PM

Im in! I am also doing WW points. This is going to be a tough goal to reach! At WW last week they said that there is only 12 weeks to christmas, but hey I am up for a challenge. My mini goal is 8lbs by Halloween. Its about 2lbs a week.

fitand40hopeful 10-07-2008 11:30 AM

I have a good feeling about this challenge. I think it'll really keep our motivation up with so many people joining in. I added a Yoga Booty Ballet workout this morning just because I knew need to bump it up to lose 2 pounds a week. I'm only going to weigh myself Monday mornings so I don't get discouraged by the scale. My biggest challenge will be not overindulging this weekend as it's our Canadian Thanksgiving. Any suggestions? I have a restuarant dinner Frinday night and a family feast on Sunday.

luvja 10-07-2008 11:47 AM

My goal is about 20 lbs aswell!. I'm aiming for 285 or under... lets DO IT!

gatorgirl6 10-07-2008 01:09 PM

For the Thanksgiving thing, I would suggest that you dont deny yourself of anything, but rather keep it to reasonable portion sizes. I know that if I want a cookie and I eat a cracker instead to save calories, then I will think about that cookie in 20 min and have to eat another cracker. This repeats until I have the dang cookie and then I have eatten the calories for all the crackers and the cookie. Just think about what you put in your mouth and if it is worth the exercise to get it off.

clarelou 10-07-2008 03:59 PM

hi princess2323 im the same with the overindulging thing.... why do we do it to ourselves?
fitand40hopeful how is the yogabootyballet going?

so thanks for your replies everyone..... stay positive and focussed and im sure we'll see results!

misserica3 10-07-2008 04:02 PM

I'm in, too =) I'm currently on the LA weight loss program.. and I definitely need to lose at least 21 lbs by Xmas!

fitand40hopeful 10-08-2008 07:10 AM

thanks for the tip gatorgirl6. I hear when mean about denying yourself. I'm the same way, can't get my mind off the snack so I eat several different things I think would be better then end up eating the "bad" snack later anyway. I'm also going to try to drink water in the afternoon as opposed to alcohol or pop to avoid empty cal so I can have a small slice of dessert! Did a 20 min workout this morning but really had to fight the urge to stop before the DVD was done. How's everyone else doing?

fitand40hopeful 10-08-2008 07:13 AM

As for the YBB, it's fun but challenging. I feel it muscles today so I just did the YBB warmup then switched to pilates. I'm going to attempt the full YBB workouts on Tues, Thurs and Sat.

princess2323 10-08-2008 01:06 PM

down a few --

as of this morning i'm down to 156.8 ---from the initial 160--- so thats like 4 lbs.. another 16 to go--- did the first day of 30 day shred--- still feeling the pain of it--- but i'll live to do it again=-==

me4life 10-08-2008 01:18 PM

Actually...yes I can wait and I am going to enjoy the journey. Thanks to everyone for being on this journey with me! :smug:

fitand40hopeful 10-14-2008 10:38 AM

I was scared to step on the scale this morning after my anniversary last week plus Cdn Thanksgiving on Sunday but I did and I've lost 4 pounds! :D I'm very happy about that because I did allow myself treats but tried to keep up on the water and exercise. Thanks for all the support girls. Good luck to everyone else.

clarelou 10-14-2008 05:17 PM

pricess2323, stick with it, im sure u will see a difference soon.

Hattie22, congrats on the loss, well done!

fitand40hopeful, hope you enjoyed your celebrations and congratulations on loosing 4lbs! impressive.

goodluck everyone and keep posting your progress x

joyra 10-15-2008 03:23 AM

Hmm, this challenge looks pretty good. I am going some place tropical in January or February (Philippines or Thailand... or both!) and the lowest I've ever weighed on a beach vacation was 150 lbs.

SW - 165
GW - 144

If I'm 144 by Christmas, I could be in the 130s by vacation time. I might even wear a bikini! Okay, probably not.

Right now I'm on Day 10 of the 30 Day Shred. It seems to be working, TOM aside. I've cut out some of my bad foods but I think I need to go a little further. Those of us on the Shred thread seem to be losing inches, but not much weight. What exercises or diet ideas have helped you guys lose lbs consistently? I know it's probably better to lose 21 inches than 21 lbs but I still want my scale to move!

fitand40hopeful 10-15-2008 12:28 PM

what's a healthy BMI number? And what's the 30-day shred? Losing inches sounds great. Did anyone take their measurements before they started? I didn't because it usually gets me depressed. I generally just go by how my clothes fit. When my pants start to fall off my hips I'll know I've lost inches!!

me too---thats how i do it by jean sizes---

the 30 day shred is a exercise dvd that is about 20 minutes per level---there are three levels and you're supposed to do like 10 days per level for 30 days ----oh and its from NBC's the biggest loser's jillian micheals--- i dont watch the show or anything but since joining on here now i want to watch it if only i had the time--

clarelou 10-15-2008 05:36 PM

* If your BMI is less than 18.4, you're underweight for your height.

* If your BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9, you're an ideal weight for your height.

* If your BMI is between 25 and 29.9, you're over the ideal weight for your height.

* If your BMI is between 30 and 39.9, you're obese.

* If your BMI is over 40, you're very obese.

i cut that from nhs website

i did take mesurements but not done so since, gonna do it monthly.

Yuck, my Christmas goal is not going so hot. Or rather, it's going in the wrong direction.

clarelou 10-16-2008 01:27 PM

aww joyra im sorry, is there anything ur doing differently? its disappointing when u dont see the results you want but stick at it and im sure you soon will.

clarelou 10-19-2008 11:16 AM

dgramie 10-20-2008 06:55 AM

Can i jump in now? I so want to lose 20lbs by christmas. I have been losing but not exercisng so my weight loss has slowed down. TIme to add exercise back in and get it going again!! I started back lifting weights last night and shocked myself by being able to lift what i was in the spring. I will jump on the minitrampoline today!!!!
For me drinking lots of water is the key to weight loss also!!

clarelou 10-20-2008 02:41 PM

hi dgramie and welcome to the challenge. im with you on the drinking water issue. hows the exercise going?

RMHismySuperSoldier 10-23-2008 05:34 AM

OO.. is it too late to join this group?????

cinlo 10-24-2008 09:01 PM

I'd like to try for this, too. I'd love to be at least one size smaller by Christmas!

erismile79 10-24-2008 10:48 PM

Lose 20 lbs by Christmas

Hi all. I hope it is ok to join in? I would like to be down about 25 lbs by New Years. I do WW. ONE of my biggest struggles is keeping to my daily points value (without using the weekly points). I never seem to get to the weekend where I always have issues! I get 39 points- which is a lot, but obviously have issues with food. I think I want to try CORE this week, but again, weekends are my problems. I also like to indulge in a Smart One snack each evening (and maybe a hot cocoa in the AM) and by the time the week is done, I have no weekly points left. I know I am spewing it all out right now so forgive me..anyone have any suggestions that have worked for them?

I look forward to going on this journey with you all!

:)
