I'm thinking ahead for when the cold weather gets here and my regular walk won't be possible. Can you guys tell me about the 30 Day Shred, WATPs, and any other dvds? Which ones are good? What should I look for when selecting? I have a stationary bike, which I'll use, but I want to be able to mix it up with another activity.

Also, I'm thinking of investing in either an eliptical machine or a treadmill. Opinions?

---i'm doing the shred=== i like it--- tough but keeping up with it--- i just finished day 7---

---i also recently purchased the biggest loser workout dvds--- i got them from the library first and liked them so i purchased them from walmart for $10
---i did the leslie sansone walk yourself slim 4 mile walk yesterday --- i liked it and i liked how easily those 4 miles went by and thats how i'm going to calculate my 50 miles for october---even though i'm behind everyone else and starting late=--- i figure if i continue with the 4 mile thing i can still meet the october challenge

oh and treadmill vs. elliptical--- i would have to say try both machines before you buy --- but i prefer the elliptical myself --- i own the nordictrack spacesaver elliptical-- i'm not sure which editiion it is but i purchased it two years ago and it also has the FIT technology or whatever its called ---but its a chip that came with it and has extra workouts on it that basically has an instructor and it automatically programs your elliptical to adjust with the program on it--- there are also more chips for it that they sell but i havent purchased any so i dont know what they cost ---my machine was in the $800-$900 range from sears

i'm not against treadmills-- i just cant use them myself--- i would like to learn--- but i have yet to purchase one---

count me as 4/50 miles in october thus far

5k walking on the treadmill today - so 3 miles (+ 1/10) = 11 miles so far for the month. It's unlikely that I'll make 50, but I am going to see how many I can get in and then use that number to make a more realistic personal challenge next month.

Oct. 13 4.50 miles

Thanks for the info, princess. I wound up buying the 30DS, but haven't received it yet. I also need to pick up hand weights - how heavy do you recommend? I'm pretty strong and I've been working out with 10lb weights all along, so I don't think the 3lbs. will be challenging. That leaves the 5 lb or 8 lb. I could probably do the 8 lbs, I'm just not sure I'd be able to pick my arms up the next day :D. I think I'll start with the 5 lbs.

Got 5 more miles in on the bike this evening. I bargain with myself - if I stay on the bike for the news, I get a treat. My dog should be so well trained!

Wow, you guys are really kicking it! Way to go!!
I did not get in any more miles this weekend, but today I think I am starting to feel some improvement in my hip after the injections. I am going to get on the bike tomorrow morning. Wish me luck!
