Numbers Challenge!!
I believe weight loss is a numbers game and I'm planning on winning. Calories in vs. calories out. My plan is to eat fewer calories, and burn more calories. Numbers . . . no matter how you slice it.
This is a numbers based challenge and if you are interested in setting and achieving a goal, please join us. My number is 7. I want to stay ON PLAN 7 days this week. Your number can be anything. Working out 60 minutes per day, 30 minutes, 15 minutes . . . whatever will challenge you THIS WEEK. Maybe your number is based on calories eaten, calories burned, fiber, or something else. The challenge runs Monday to Monday. You can keep the same challenge the next week, or pump it up a bit to keep you working harder and staying motivated. Start a thread with your goal and keep us updated throughout the week. We will use this thread for 4 weeks. Good luck!!! |
I've been a real putz for WEEKS about logging my points so my goal this week is to do 7 days ON PLAN. Logging every single speck of food or beverage in my mouth and staying within my Points.
Monday, August 11th - STAY ON PLAN!! Tuesday, Aug. 12th - I fell off plan. :( Wednesday, Aug. 13th - GET BACK ON PLAN!! |
ok here we go lets do this!!!!!!!!! my goals are going to be average of 2000 cals 200 min of cardio and to get in at least 4 servings of vegetables everyday!!! im not sure what the recommended amount is lol but 4 is more than im getting now so ill start there lol and weights 4 times this week.
8/11- 1771 cals, 47 min cardio, 1 weights 4 servings of veggies 8/12- 2415 cals, 82 min cardio, 6 servings of veggies (my cals are so high cause i could not stop eating watermelon!! its so goooood!!!) 8/13- 2180 cals, 80 min cardio, 4 servings of veggies, 1 weights 8/14- 8/15- 8/16- 8/17- |
For me, drinking water is really important to stay on track and lose weight. For some reason, when I drink enough water, my cravings are reduced. And of course, the appetite is reduced too. So, for this week, my goal is to drink atleast 1.5L of water per day, and I am aiming for 3L.
8/11: drank 1.5L yay 8/12: drank 1.5L 8/13: drank about 2.25L 8/14: ? 8/15: ? 8/16: ? 8/17: drank almost 1.5L 8/18: didn't drink enough water!!!! :( |

Hey gang. After the first "Numbers Challenge", I sort of fizzled out, but I'm ready to get back into it. My goal for this week is to average 60 minutes of exercise for 7 days straight--so 420 total minutes in a week! Lofty goal, but my tv went out so the only time I can watch is at the gym! I'm too cheap to buy a new one right now!

I logged all my points yesterday! :) Wasn't easy because there were a LOT of points consumed, but I'm on track. Now I just have to behave the rest of the week! |

Well, here it is Wednesday, and I'm (once again!) starting over. Yesterday was just plain BAD.
So . . . I'm not going to earn a star for the week, but I AM starting over. I'm GOING to stay ON PLAN for the rest of the week!! |
I'm in, a bit late though. I can not think about a diet without having a spreadsheet in excel with 100s of numbers. (calories, weight loss, expected weight loss, measurements etc...) So I love numbers!
My goal number would be 5, but as the number should only count for the first week, I'll go with 40. As in 40% of my calories should come from protein.As a calorie counter it happens quickly, but I don't want to lose muscle mass! |

This week has been a total bust for me!! I've been partying my brains out!!

The water is going down pretty well. I am keeping my 1.5L bottle with me pretty much at all times. I haven't drank much water yet this morning though. I'd better get on it! Hang in there, Mindy. You will get over this rough spot.

Well I'm sweating my butt off at the gym this week. I have 150 minutes left (2 1/2 hrs) to meet my goal. I think I'm going to make it. If I just work out over the weekend...which is usually tough for me. Remember, it's important that when you fall off plan to get right back on again. I know it's easier said than done & I don't always "practice what I preach." But, just think about how far we've all come! Have a great Friday & weekend!!! |

I had a very good, OP day, yesterday. It felt good to turn down steak at my sisters and have turkey instead. Empowering. Staying On Plan is all about perception, really. You can focus on the bad things about it or you can focus on the good. I'm going to focus on what I LOVE about healthy living. :) I'll be out of town for most of the weekend. I'm due back Sunday night fairly late. Let's just keep this thread going for the rest of this month. :) |

gg: did you have a good weekend out of town? i went out of town on saturday to whale's tale waterpark in lincoln, nh we had a great time(my daughter, my friend, her daughter and myself) but the food selection YOW! fried, fried and pizza lmao oh man it was awful. next summer kate and i are going to get summer passes to storyland in nh and they offer healthy food such as apples and carrots...it could be easier to bring my own but i dont feel like lugging around a cooler and what am i supposed to do with it when we go on rides together if its just my daughter and i so its easier just to eat there but at least at storyland i have some better options! |

I completely sympathize with going out and staying on plan. It's AWFUL. And you're right, lugging around a cooler is the only other option. I adore waterparks! I bet you guys had a wonderful time. I also love NH. I've only been to Manchester on business, but the people were lovely and I loved the architecture. When I cleaned my son's room I found a backpack he received for Christmas one year. Too small to carry his school books, but inside it there was a little square cooler bag. I've confiscated it as my own! ;) I haven't exercised, but I have been busy. Walking around, shopping, dancing in my kitchen while I make jam. :) |
Well, I was confused and didn't remember to change my goal for this week, so I guess my goal is the same: 1.5L+ of water a day. I think, if you include diet soda, my fluid intake was atleast 1.5L...does that count or should I not include the soda? Next week, I'm going to be more creative in my goals.
Haley: I haven't been to a waterpark in so long. I bet it was fun. What is storyland? Is it an amusement park? It sounds fun...I remember when I was a kid we went to some place that had things to climb on having to do with stories, for instance there was an "old woman who lived in a shoe" shoe that you could go inside. I forget what that place was called. When I go to the zoo, I usually pack stuff in a backpack but then it gets all warm. You could always leave a cooler in the car, but then again, I don't know if it would stay cold enough? |
hey troo! ya storyland is an amusement park in glen, nh. they have the park split up into themes and there was an old woman in the shoe! they also have 2 water rides and a sprayground so storyland is just the best lol as far as the water thing...personally i wouldn't include soda but then again that's me and it's your goal so it's really what you are happy with. there have been days where i ate over but then did extra exercise so i thought well maybe that exercise can cancel out some cals but then i felt like i was cheating myself of really trying to only eat a certain amount. does that make sense?

Troo - I think soda counts for daily fluid intake as long as it isn't ALL soda. :) I would be happy if you added flossing teeth to your goals, too! :) Last night I was in bed, ready to fall asleep and I realized I hadn't flossed, and taken the night time vitamins. I drug myself up and got 'er done!! I would love to go to a park based on stories. Climbing on a huge shoe would be a blast. I've been in the "waiting" mode all week and I hate it. Waiting for my sister, waiting for friends that never called. I was frustrated yesterday and drank wine and made BAD food choices. I only have 9 flex points remaining and I need to save those for Saturday night and a bachelorette party. How are you guys doing?? |
So far so good. I'm barely holding on, but I'm determined. Today I'm going to the county fair. I'm hoping to avoid all the fried food! Wendy and I are hiking Tubb's Hill so that will be my exercise.

Haley: that sounds like a fun place, whether you are a kid or an adult! I don't think I am going to include the sodas since I said WATER intake, not fluid. I agree with Mindy, I think it might count if I said fluid. I think I was just trying to "bend the rules". :lol: I am originally from Ohio but now I live in San Diego. The closest thing to a place like that around here would be Legoland, which isn't anything like it. :dizzy:
Mindy: As I said above, I agree with you as far as if I were counting my fluid intake. BUT...I said water intake and I guess soda isn't water, so I'm out of luck and no stars for me this week! I will be adding flossing to the goal this week, that dental work I got recently was EXPENSIVE. ;) Good for you for dragging yourself out of bed to do that, I would probably be too lazy. How was the fair? I haven't been to the fair in years but I like to go. Maybe next year. I like to look at all the stuff and now I will only be able to smell the food, but that is good enough? How was the hiking too? GOALS THIS WEEK: --- stay OP --- drink atleast 1.5L of water per day --- floss every day! --- drink ONLY on Friday and Saturday nights :) I am leary about having so many goals, but they are all important goals so I should atleast shoot for them. Hiking was FUN! We have a little mountain that juts into the lake. It's called Tubbs hill and there are trails all over it. We walk the lower loop clockwise, and then walk it again counter-clockwise. It's probably a little over 5 miles total and it's all right next to the lake.
The fair was really good. I ate a gyro with no sour cream and a teriyaki chicken stick. No fried food for me!! Then I went home and got into the wine, which was where my downfall into the weekend of never-ending partying began! I think Happy Monday is a great way to start the week. :) My boys come home on Sunday! Whoo-Hoo!! Wouldn't it be great if we all three earned a star?? |
hey all, im so nervous about school starting next week all i want to do is eat!!! but ill try my best to get a star this week i really will lol im going to make sure to have a gym bag in my car at all times so i can use the schools gym after class. i have classes 5 days a week so i can easily go to the gym but im gonna see about shoving my gym clothes in my backpack because my car isnt on campus ill figure something out. good luck everyone!

I had a great OP day yesterday. :) I forgot I have a cosmetic party to go to tonight. I'll probably have a glass of wine. I thought I'd go and just drink iced tea, but she called me from the store last night asking for specific brands of wine I like. If nobody else is drinking it I'm going to feel obligated to have some since she bought it special for me. Geez . . . Social obligations can be very bad for dieting. How's everybody else doing?? |

Didn't foss yesterday and had some wine. I still consider myself on program though. I've done a lot of thinking and I'm just not in the mood to hit the weight loss thing very hard right now. I'm within 3 pounds of where I ended the last challenge and even though I'd like to lose it, or at least part of it, I also want to enjoy my last 2 challenge free weeks. I've been eating a fun breakfast. Egg foo young frittata! I splash a little soy sauce into beaten eggs, cook with some of those canned oriental vegetables with bean sprouts, celery, watercress & bamboo shoots, and top it with a little chicken gravy. Yummm! How you guys doing? |
i didnt even set a goal this week cause i knew it would be a lost cause but next week ill finally have some normalcy with a school schedule

hey everyone! the concert was awesome and i didnt do too badly foodwise...i didnt get the giant eclair that i wanted because those are HUGE and i would have had no problem eating the whole thing and since my friend didn't want to split one i didnt get it. my goals for this week are just gonna be to get in 4 veggie servings and average of 2000 cals.

hey all, hows it going? im doing good, i may not make my goal this week but it's ok because im still adjusting to the new schedule...but i have been doing really well at bringing healthy food to school and using their gym. also, where i park i can either take the shuttle or walk up a steep hill which takes 15 minutes and by the time i get to the top i can barely breathe! but i havent taken the shuttle, yesterday i had to go to my car twice so i went up the hill 3 times and today i had to go once so i went up twice....im hoping it will eventually get easier....and by enventually i mean by tommorrow lmao

its so frustrating when your good all week and then comes the weekend and it all goes to ****!!! i think im just really lazy on the weekend cause im so busy during the week....ive got to figure out a way to keep myself motivated through the weekend....its only 5 months until im seeing my boyfriend and ive got to get under 250!!! in the last 3 weeks the scale says ive gained 12lbs which just is no way possible i havent done THAT bad and during the latest tom it went up another 5lbs its so frustrating and then theres my daughter who DOES NOT listen which makes matters worse!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!
