Rabbit - I've never tried Pilates, actually. So, I can't give you a fair comparison. I can tell you that I do feel a little more "stretched" after I've done my yoga. Also, there's this one form, Goddess, that kicks my BUTT. It's only for 5 breaths on the DVD, but my legs ache & shake, and my arms burn. Mostly, though, it's just a relaxing thing. And it's some form of physical activity. :)

Rabbit, Pilates kicks my @$$ too! Talk about SORE ABS!!!! VEry different from most yoga, but certain types (Kundalini) can be as vigorous and work the core the same.

Goddess pose? That's my favorite. I hold it during Shivasana.

This is a bound Goddess:

OMG, I don't think I could get my body into that postition! Lol. I actually had hip surgery when I was 13, and I have lost some range of motion in that leg, and I am not sure it could bed that way! Wow... very impressive, lol.

SoulBliss - That's different than the one I'm thinking of. Unless they call it Goddess on the DVD and it's not actually Goddess...

On the DVD we move from 5 pointed star into Goddess. I found this:

Oh, that is harder than it looks, for sure. After a few seconds, I start to shake and burn in that pose too!

Here's another link for the other Goddess pose. :) I don't do it bound, as I am really flexible to begin with. http://yoga.about.com/od/yogaposes/ss/goddess.htm

That one actually looks stretching & relaxing. I think I'll have to give it a try! We'll see just how flexible I really am >_<

My NSV yesterday: went for a long walk with DH and DDoggie. I felt really out of shape, but it's a start. Planning a walk on my lunch hour today.

sexybrokechick 04-07-2008 12:31 PM

My ankle has been bothering me so I haven't been doing my exercise DVD (tbl cardio max) but I did walk 2 miles each day (tues, wed, thurs, fri, sat). On Saturday, there was a funeral at my church. I'm on the hospitality committee so it was my job to make sure there was refreshments out and that they were kept full. I had a small piece of chocolate cake, a piece of peanut butter brownie and a choco chocolate cookie. It was a deviation from the usual but from sun-fri, I ate mostly fruits and veggies, no sweets so I let myself eat them and not feel bad. Usually when I see chocolate, I binge (2+ pieces of anything and everything I can get my hands on) and I didn't binge this time.

Since my ankle is feeling better, I plan to get back into my exercise routine.

NSV: I didn't do my usual exercise but the tape measure was down 1/4 inch average on my waist, gut, hips, and thigh measurements.

Judy Lynn: Great job walking & planning some more! :bravo:

Sexybrokechick: Good for you! Indulging, but not binging on food. :cp:

Thanks Bliss for making this thread!! I desperately need it! I am starting to realize that my WL efforts always fail because I depend on and get discouraged by what the scale says. So after about a week or 2, I decide that what I'm doing just isn't working (because the scale says so, and apparently I'm dumb enough to believe everything the scale says...) So, I've decided I'm on a scale strike - indefinitely. Probably until at least April 20, but maybe until April 30.

So, I'm on a SCALE STRIKE for a while! I don't want to think about or focus one what the scale tells me day to day, or week to week. It really damages any type of success I'm feeling and I can't afford to quit this time around....

Here's my NSV for today... for the past week I've been Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred DVD (which was kinda tough in the beginning), but now I feel it getting easier... a little!

Lovely 04-08-2008 08:34 AM

Gracenote - Way to go on following that DVD and have it become a little easier :D

Got in my water, fruits & veg yesterday! I've been pleasantly surprised. I think I'm feeling a little healthier just getting those in & tracking them :)

Lovely 04-09-2008 10:32 AM

Water, fruits & veg = A-OK!

:D

LittleMoonRabbit 04-09-2008 11:35 AM

Hey guys.

Weird NSV for me today. After working out like a bandit at the gym this morning I noticed something... I have formed calluses on my hands from working out so much. LOL, most girls would think that's gross and unattractive, but I think they are BEAUTIFUL, haha. :) Weightloss causes me to celebrate some odd things... but they make me happy, so that's all that matters. :) Great job SexyBroke and GraceNote on your NSVs! Faerie- excellent one the fruits and veggies. I should follow your example... I know I haven't been getting enough veggies lately.

Lovely 04-09-2008 11:37 AM

Rabbit - That's beautiful :D

Lovely 04-10-2008 07:26 AM

Water = Check!
Fruits/Veggies = Check!

Monkey sticker for me! :D
