Lose 10 by Easter challenge...

Well I have been away from the board a bit and my weight is very slowly going down. So I thought maybe I need a challenge on the board to keep me going like I should have been doing.

Nothing to special about this challenge just lose 10 by Easter which is 3 months away I think. So if you wanna join in please do. The more the merrier.

lumifan4ever 12-26-2007 04:06 PM

I'll try to jump in. If Easter is 3 months away, i want to definately be down 15 by then. That would put me at 121. I'm pretty sure i can do that. I should have already been about there but the holidays have been rough to get thru. Just can't seem to make myself plan my meals or stick to them for some reason. Glad to lose a couple but wishing i could lose the 5 a month like i was doing. Good luck!!!

sockmonkey70 12-27-2007 10:23 PM

Can I join with a goal of 25 pounds? That would be just a tad over 2 pounds a week. I will weigh in the morning so I know exactly how bad it is LOL.

I have been on hiatus from the board since around October and I am pretty sure I am up to around 188 now.

I really need to refocus and I think I am ready.

sockmonkey70 12-28-2007 04:35 PM

The verdict is in. Since the last time I weighd myself 11/23, I have gained 5 pounds :(
I am hoping I can get rid of it pretty quick though! All this dang holiday food LOL.

need2loseinGA 12-28-2007 08:32 PM

sockmonkey sure you can join in. So far I am holding fast to 129 but really thats a good thing because of the holidays. How is everyone else doing.

need2loseinGA 01-04-2008 09:41 AM

girls where you at how you doing? My official weigh in is not till Sunday but I weighed myself this morning and I just broke the 127 mark. Its a high 127 but still.

How is everyone else doing?

lumifan4ever 01-04-2008 11:59 AM

Well....I think since i last posted....I am at 138. That's actually pretty good because i saw it go up to 141. Slowly i think i am flushing all the sodium out of my system. I still think i can do 10 pounds by Easter. Just gotta get with the program. I started back at my gym Wednesday. Felt good. Can't wait to get back to class tonight. I am definately going to be rededicating myself to the gym and my healthy eating. Stopped by the store on my lunch break and picked up some more skinless chicken breast...so that's a start.

dustcatcher 01-12-2008 08:25 PM

I'd like to join. Losing 10 lbs by Easter would be great. I'll post my weigh-ins on Sat. Today I am 248.4.

lumifan4ever 01-14-2008 12:47 PM

Okay....I'm doing pretty good i guess. I actually saw 135 this past saturday. I won't change my ticker until i see it again. Twice is the rule for me. I have to see it twice to change my ticker...that's only if i am going down. Up doesn't count....hehehehe.

So....todays WEED is...

W- 64 ounces
E- 1200 calories
E- gym class
D- take it one day at a time....one meal at a time.

How's everyone else doing??? Anybody else going to make their goal by Easter?? How many more weeks do we have until Easter?? It's in March this year, right??? I'm so clueless....hahahaha.

oh...and i don't think i'll make 121 by Easter...but if i can get down to the high to mid 120's....i'll be pretty happy. And i just checked the calendar and Easter is March 23rd.

ImpalaHoarder 01-14-2008 06:49 PM

Right, I'll join in with the goal of 10 by Easter. I've been really having trouble losing weight lately. As of today I'd have to say my official weight is 173 pounds, although it's been much lower lately, around 168-170-ish. 160 is my goal weight anyway. I think my body's going to kick and scream about this one, since I'm getting so close to my target weight, so 10 seems reasonable.

Izzy906 01-14-2008 10:35 PM

I would love to get into your 10# by Easter Challenge. I just joined this site and am doing WW. I have a vac. to California planned for Feb.14th so I have a short term goal too. I have never seen the WEED thing before. Makes sense (what's the D stand for?)

Izzy

lumifan4ever 01-15-2008 03:08 PM

The D is the daily affirmation or daily goal...it can be about getting something done around the house or school work or whatever...or like a daily affirmation like...I can do this just one meal at a time or something like that. (Did I explain that right, anybody???)

And welcome Izzy and Impalahoarder!!!! Good luck on your goals. I hope i can make mine. If i don't stop "splurgeing" i'll never make it to goal. I stopped off with my boyfriend at Arby's today for lunch. I didn't make a bad sandwich choice...but i could have done without the small jamocha shake!!! But it was good though. Can;'t remember last time i had a shake.

lumifan4ever 01-16-2008 05:17 PM

Okay....so my trip to arby's ended up not costing me. I was actually down .4 ounces. I weighed less this morning than yesterday morning. I am officially 135. But again, what did i do....I just had a slice of birthday cake!!!!!! WHAT???? Thank goodness it's gym class night. I am going to work that cake off and drink another 2 bottles of water to help flush it out so hopefully i'll still see 135 tomorrow. Also, make sure i eat a light dinner of chicken breast and some green beans. Geez. I don't know why i had to have that slice of cake. I wasn't even really hungry. And i'll be eating birthday cake on saturday at my nephews birthday party. At least there, i can control how big of a peice i get. Here, i had to have someone cut it for me and bring it to me. Oh well...I'm human and i make mistakes but i'm not going to let one bad food choice today ruin my mood or my hard work. It just means i have to go work out hard at the gym tonight (which in my class, is not hard to accomplish!!).

Anyways....anyone else still working towards Easter????

lumifan4ever 01-22-2008 11:32 AM

Hello girls!!! So...I saw 134 twice this past weekend. Yay!!! I am slowly moving at a snails pace towards my goal. Still doubt i can hit 121 but at least i am moving down!!

Hows everyone else doing today?? Congrats dustcatcher on dropping a pound!!! Yay!!!!

need2loseinGA 01-24-2008 07:47 AM

Good work everyone. I know I have not been on lately. I have been working helping a friend at her work a couple days a week. I have been working on getting down to my last goal but I don't know if its gonna happen. I think my body is real comfortable where it is at right now. I kinda float between 127 and 129. But we will see how it goes as we get closer to easter.

lumifan4ever 01-24-2008 10:18 AM

I hear ya need2lose!!! I am having a difficult time getting down past and staying down past 136. My body seems to like that number....ALOT!!! But I will make my original goal of at least 130. It will be a struggle to get any lower than that....but what's worth it, if you don't have to work for it....right???? lol.

So, i saw 134 twice this past week, but the past two mornings, i'm at 136. Last night before i went to bed, i was 135.8....I get up in the morning, and it says 136.0. I thought we were suppose to lose weight over night...not gain??? I drank 2 bottles of water to try to flush out any sodium before i went to bed too. Must have not peed them all out, huh???Anyways....I don't care. I'll see 134 again soon. (I hope!!!) lol.

ImpalaHoarder 01-25-2008 06:29 AM

I have no clue how much I way at this point, since we just moved. I've eaten well some, and I've exercised some, and then I've overeaten some. I could way more, less, or the same. Guess I'll figure it out later.

Just recovering from a bit of a bingeing episode now. And, unfortunately, the only way I've ever done that is to reduce my caloric intake to about 800-1200 calories a day. I just have huge issues being moderate.

Anyway, this will probably start to pay off at least in another week. I think I can still make the goal. :)

nicolby 01-25-2008 09:06 AM

Hey everyone! I'd love to join!

I want to lose 15 lbs in the 8 weeks until easter. :)

1/18- 197
1/26- 194

Looks like some people are already losing! Good job :D

lumifan4ever 01-25-2008 10:15 AM

Okay...so i saw 134 again this morning!!! Yay!!! Now i just have to move down to 133....lol.

nicolby 01-26-2008 09:48 AM

You're doing pretty well lumifan! (sorry, I feel so bad that I don't know everyone's names!)

rakuette 01-26-2008 11:31 PM

ok so i'm just now getting here. i have a wee bit less than a month, but i would love a challenge! i totally think i can do 10 lbs.

lumifan4ever 01-28-2008 03:47 PM

Thanks Nicole. And don't feel bad. I don't go by my real very often on here. Not that i have a problem with it, i just don't go by it. Most people just refer to me by my screen name...and sometimes shorten it to lumi. And it looks like you are off to a good start too. Good luck with your goal.

Rakuette- good luck on losing ten!!! I always say "better late than never to join!!!" Good luck.

ImpalaHoarder 02-05-2008 12:37 PM

Just got a scale. When I weighed myself the first time, I weighed 170.5 pounds, but it is probably worth noting that this was after the mother of all binges. Since then it's been heading down to what I can only assume is my normal weight (guess I'll just have to wait to find out what that is). This morning I weighed 164.5 pounds, so I know I've lost some weight. I don't like to move my ticker down unless I'm consistently under a certain weight, though.

lumifan4ever 02-12-2008 11:10 AM

So Easter is how many weeks away again??? I don't know if i'm going to make my goal or not. Valentines day is just 2 days away...and i am NOT going to make it. Oh well..that's what goals are for...something to shoot for. if you don't make one, just try another goal. lol. So...maybe my next goal is going to be to be at 132 by the end of february. Maybe, maybe if i get a handle on what i'm doing wrong...i'll be able to make that goal. I am going to try to start using my fitday again and see what's up. Good luck to everyone. How are you all doing on your Easter goal???

tleef 02-13-2008 12:31 PM

I would love to join this challenge! That would give me 5 weeks and 4 days to lose 10lbs. I have my first wedding gown fitting on March 28 so I'd love to be closer to 20lbs gone by then...but I'll take a loss no matter what!

Lumifan: I love that weed thing and am going to adopt that as well! Thanks!

I'm currently 199.5 and looking for at least 189.5 by March 23.

W - 64 oz
E - 1500 Calories
E - Curves
D - I can do this!

My actual WI day is Saturday so I'll update my weight and ticker at that point.

Cheers All,
Tamara

lumifan4ever 02-13-2008 04:29 PM

tleef....I know you can lose 10 pounds by your goal date. congrats on the upcoming wedding. what an exciting time for you. you and your fiancee look so great together in your pic. awww.... Hope ya'll have a romantic valentines planned. when's the wedding???

Well...as of today, i'm finally down a pound. I don't know how i did it. I actually ate out at McDonalds last night. And let me tell you...those fries were GREAT!!!

tleef 02-14-2008 04:13 PM

Lumifan: I hear that! McDonald's fries are easily one of my biggest weaknesses. Mmmmmm...;) Congrats on being down another pound...I'm hoping I'll be down 0.5 - 1 by Saturday. I'm taking the day off work tomorrow and cleaning my house from top to bottom. I just can't wait for spring to do my spring clean! LOL

Thanks for the compliment on the photo...we were really pleased with our entire engagement shoot. I'm excited to see what the photographer does with our wedding photos. We're getting married on June 1, it will be the 17th anniversary of our first date, but we actually haven't been together for the whole 17 years. We got together June 1, 1991 and were together for six years...parted ways in '97 although we very much stayed in touch for our daughter's sake (she was born in '93), doing family dinners, PTA meetings, movie nights, etc. It always seemed to bother anyone that either of us got into a relationship with that we maintained such a close friendship (they probably were seeing what we refused to see). For the last few years before we got back together (March '06) neither of us was in a relationship and so we turned to each other for companionship (totally platonic) and then one day we just realized we'd been fooling ourselves and were still very much in love and so we will celebrate our 2nd anniversary of being back together on March 12. He proposed just after my birthday in September during a backyard bonfire surrounded by friends. It's been like a fairy tale and we both feel very fortunate that we decided not to keep denying what we'd been feeling for years. Anyhow....whew....that's a long story, here we are and we're getting married June 1.

I'm not sure what's planned for this evening, although I've been getting very sweet text messages on my cell phone all day. He knows that candy and fancy dinners are not so much on the plan right now, but he's creative and knows me better than anyone else so I'm sure it will be very sweet and very much something that shows how much he loves me. We'll also be including our daughter (15) in the plans as we know she's feeling a little left out with all the wedding planning stuff that's going on so we're trying to hang with her more and not only talk about the upcoming nuptuals constantly.

Hope everyone has a terrific night and remember one poorly planned meal or decadent dessert or couple of chocolates WILL NOT undo all of your hard work. It's a lifetime of those things that got us here to 3FC and so if you get some yummy goody for V-Day or are taken out for an exquisite meal...enjoy it and keep in mind that the person that gave it to you only wants to show they care, not sabotage your plan.

W - 64 oz
E - 1500 calories
E - Curves
D - I love myself!

Cheers,
Tamara

lumifan4ever 02-14-2008 04:57 PM

wow tleef...what an amazing story. That is so fabulous!! Well...i know you can make your goals by your wedding. And you are going to have a very beautiful wedding regardless.

I love what you said about enjoying today. It's only one meal...one day....it took many meals and days to get where we are, so if someone gives you minuture cupcake, don't fret...just enjoy it. :-)

erin28almost29 02-15-2008 12:24 AM

I am new here, but I'd love to join. It would get me halfway to my goal. Great idea. I'm so competitive that this might help me get past my plataeu. :)

tleef 02-15-2008 10:55 AM

Good morning ladies! Did everyone have a good V-Day? Mine was very sweet. SO gave me a Valentine card that he made for me with my scrapbook stuff. So sweet and so thoughtful! I can scapbook it into a page for this V-Day which will be the only one we ever have as an engaged couple. I'll be off to the scrapbook store to pick up some paper for this special page.

We had a yummy mexican dinner (still managed to eat carefully and got lots of veggies and chicken) and then a mini cinnamon bun. Yum! We shopped after than and I got some new clothes since a lot of mine are getting a little big.

I weighed this morning and the scale gave me a victorious 196! I'll wait until tomorrow for official WI to change my ticker...but I'm excited to see what my loss will be for this week. If I am actually down 3lbs then holy smokes, what a fantastic week! :D

I'm going to run off to the gym and get a workout in before I start on cleaning my house. I'd like to have the whole weekend (except I work Sunday) to just play with DD and SO. I'll check back later to see how everyone's Valentine's Day was.

Cheers,
Tamara

tleef 02-19-2008 01:27 PM

So...where is everyone?

I hope everyone is doing well. I've decided to attempt the Fat Smash Diet for the next 90 days. The wedding is in 103 days, so hopefully I will have no problem with getting rid of 15-20 lbs by then.

I've read a ton of reviews and checked over the recipes. I like the idea of eating only whole foods and so we'll see how things go. I'm going to start it tomorrow morning and so I'm going to have to cook like a maniac tonight to ensure I'll have everything I need for all of my meals tomorrow.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone soon.

Cheers,
Tamara

lumifan4ever 02-20-2008 11:27 AM

I know tleef...i've wondered where everyone is. Seems like there is not much activitiy on the challenge board lately. I thought at first it was because monday was a holiday, then yesterday my work computer had gotten a virus...darn myspace!!!...but then today, it's still so quiet.

Well...i am not doing so good. My weight drop kinda disappeared. Been weighing in at 134 again. But i don't care. i'm not changing my ticker. I always say if i saw it, then it must be. i will see 131 again. I just have to really buckle down with healthy eating and excersizing again. The good news is....soon i'll be able to take up jogging after work again. Even if i don't drop another pound, i should tone up. But...here's to losing for Easter!!!

tleef 02-21-2008 10:53 AM

Good morning!

I officially started the Fat Smash this morning. The headache is terrible from lack of coffee, but it's only for 9 (8 more!) mornings and then I can have my coffee back. I don't think I'll miss the meat too much as I've bought Veggie crumble (like ground beef) and lots of beans/lentils. I made a huge pot of veggie rice soup last night as well as a big pot of vegetarian chili and homemade salsa.

The actual plan calls for lots of food, but nothing processed. Plain yogurt, oatmeal, brown rice, fruits, veggies, beans/legumes/lentils. So I'm going to see how it goes and hope that I can make it through at least the first 9 days, then I get my meat and coffee back! LOL

I imagine it's much easier in Phase II - IV, but this first 9 days will be a true test of my willpower.

I'm also going to not weigh myself for the whole Phase I and then see what I'm at on day 10. I weighed this morning and I'm still sitting at 199. I saw 196 last week, but then it was gone and I haven't seen it again so I left my ticker where it was. I won't be changing it until at least Saturday March 1 when I finish my 9 days.

I hope everyone has a great day and finds this thread again. Only just over 4 weeks until Easter! :cheer: GO US! ! !

Cheers,
Tamara

tleef 02-22-2008 10:05 AM

OK...So I'm a Fat Smash Failure! LOL I just couldn't do it. I got into the late afternoon yesterday (Day 1) and had to have coffee! I called my SO and he asked why I was putting myself through **** when I've done so well on the plan I've been using. I thought that made perfect sense. I guess the appeal of a fast loss in only 9 days appealed to me...but who doesn't it appeal to when you're looking to lose weight on a timeline (wedding June 1/08)! I already incorporate a lot of the principals of Fat Smash into my plan, lots of whole grains, lean proteins, fruits/veggies, low fat dairy...so why give up meat/coffee/bread!

I have a full 3 months and a week to get down at least 10lbs for my wedding dress although it already fits. I'd just like to be a bit smaller for The Day! So I still stayed 100% on plan and actually because the calories in my FS meals were so low I was really under yesterday. To me that's just not a good thing. I know that if I consume 1500 a day I consistently lose 1-2lbs a week. It also gives me the opportunity to drop a little lower if I stall or hit a plateau. On FS I would have only been eating about 1100 a day...where is there to go from there?!?! I've decided to really up my exercise in a bid to be a bit firmer, but I'm not going to mess with my eating plan for now. I enjoy SlimFast and on weekends, unless I'm in a hurry, I don't even use the SF products, just use the numbers (cal/fat/protein/fibre) to create a healthy meal using regular food. Since they revamped the website and the meal plans earlier this month there is always the option to use SF products and food or just regular food (but they give you the measurements and portions).

So as much as I wanted a Quick Loss that the Fat Smash may have given me I think I'm better off to do what I've been doing. They say that the best plan is the one you stick with...just like the best exercise is the one you'll Do! I'm gonna start my Beach Booty Ballet tonight after I get home from doing my circuit training at Curves and I'm going to do the BBB every day that I don't work both jobs. I figure that I can tone up and keep losing and not be miserable.

I hope everyone else is having a good week. WI is tomorrow for me so I'll see if I can change my ticker yet!

Cheers,
Tamara

lumifan4ever 02-28-2008 10:49 AM

tleef...i have to agree with SO. Why change something that is already working. But i know how tempting it can be to try something that says you can lose x amount of pounds in x amount of time. I'd be tempted to. Especially since i'm at a weightloss standstill. But on the plus side, i did just talk to someone at my local Y about starting some personal training sessions, so i am excited to hear back from her and get started hopefully next week toning this floppy mess up. My daughter was a little shocked and maybe a little upset this week when she saw me wearing a pair of her jeans. I tried to make her feel better by letting her know they fit her much better than me because they were so low....my belly flopped over them. I think that's what made me decide to go ahead and spend the money on the personal training sessions. It is time to kick my toning up into high gear!!!!

ImpalaHoarder 03-02-2008 08:09 AM

My weight loss has stalled a bit- my eating habits have gotten horrible, and I've stopped fencing as much since the season's over. I'm trying to climb painfully back onto the wagon, but we'll see how it goes. I think if I really kick it up a notch in terms of exercise and diet, and if I don't encounter enormous resistance from my metabolism, I can still make it, because I haven't really gained that much. Maybe a pound or two.

JimmieLynn 03-08-2008 10:55 PM

i'd like to jump in as well...

Starting Weight: 281
Current Weight: 267
Long Term Goal: 180 or so

I want to get to 250 by Easter...
