ellis did you get on that treadmill yet??? you know it isn't going to walk itself!! it needs you :drill: go to it NOW!!!:woops: :lol3:
me?? i just got back from the Y. I went early and walked 2 miles in 35mins then took the 1hr water calss. i am feeling fine!!! total steps for today are a little over 9000 :yikes: not bad for a chubby woman with a desk job  have a great evening everyone!! |
:lol3: Yes, chubby desk job lady, I did get on the treadmill. :D
Only for 12 minutes... I ran for three minutes and then two. It was all I could do in my delicate state. I'm still rather wheezy. You're turning into quite the exercise guru, aren't you, Jodi? :cheer: |
Hello ladies...Glad to see everyone is doing great....
ellis-glad you got some sleep this weekend..it makes you feel better too...with being sick and keeping up with your exercise your body need the rest. Jodi-great job ..9000 steps is great...I stand up all day and walk around for 8+ hours straight and I don't even get in that many steps... As for me I'm taking today off...my muscles are alittle sore and I think my body needs the break too....I made chili yesterday made with ground turkey..it was really good and only like 220 calories for 1 cup... |
Hi guys - I took off yesterday. I figured spinning for 70 minutes with a bunch of 20 year old athletes (I'm 45) and yoga for an hour afterwards pretty much told me to rest on Tuesday. But tonight I'm back at it - spinning and then, if it's nice out I'll take my doberman and miniature pinscher to the park.
Anybody ever outrun a dobie? It's pretty difficult, but if you can imagine snarling, dripping fangs (even though I know he protect me to the death) it a great motivator to move fast! LOL You all are doing so great! Ellis - take care of yourself! Exercise and coughing can lead to pleurisy (I know, I had it) justjodi - I loved the drill sargent and the treadmill guy - I got a nice chuckle from that! I got a pedometer from work (I'm not sure how accurate it is) but it said during my 8 hours of work, I only logged in about 1500 steps :(. I think I need the drill sargent... dgpebbles - I ask my friend who is a hobby weightlifter (mmm, very nice 17" arms - ok, down girl) anyway, he told me what he does is that he does combine weightlifting and cardio but before he starts his workout he feeds his muscles some protein (usually a protein shake) and one afterwards - to stave off any muscle cannibalism (ew). dalai lala - I sure can relate to the TOM - even at 45 it still kicks my butt! I've heard that stretching can help, but I was always in so much pain, it seemed with exercise I was just compounding my pain. OUCH. Welcome Kim - I hope you are not having any trouble reaching your goals so to help you out I'm givng you a :cheerleader: RAH! plb - I am soooo inspired by your 1000 crunches! OMG if I did that, I think I would be unable to walk the next day. I can do about 20, then rest, then another 20, rest, and I struggle to get the last 20. I tell myself I need to do babysteps... You guys are very inspirational! Thanks tons for all the ideas and keep up the great work! |
Okay... I tried to post this this morning, but the power blinked (my UPS is apparently nonfunctional) and I lost it all. Grrrrrr.....
Kitty - Keep up the good work! I'm sure your dogs enjoy the active new you! DGP- Chili sounds yummy! I've got a couple of servings frozen from last time I made chili, I should thaw that out for dinner tomorrow. But do get some rest when you need to. It's easy for us to work too hard for too long and not let our bodies get the rest and repair time they need. Jodi - Good job at the Y! I am just the opposite with walking. I can get in 5000 to 10000 steps during the week, but barely break 2500 on a weekend day. Ellis - Glad you're able to get up and about at least a bit. Take care of you! As for me, I thought I was back on track, but I seem to have hurt my shoulder or arm this morning... driving today was a bit painful. I did my AM stretches, crunches, and calisthenics this morning and I'll stretch a bit and see what else I can manage this evening. I don't think it'll be weights, though... Monday was AM stretch, only a few crunches, then an afternoon walk on campus, the PM stretch and weights, then an evening walk with my hubby around the neighborhood. Tuesday was AM stretch, crunches, then the PM stretch and 30 minutes on the elliptical. Busy, busy... Hope everyone's having a happy Wednesday! -Lala |
chaoskitty- WOW !!! 70minutes of spinning way to go.:woo:
Lala- Sorry to hear about your shoulder or arm , but it sounds like you didn't let that stop you . I took the day off monday because my knee was hurting . It still is, but the the elliptical doesn't make it hurt any more then it already does so I'm not going to let it stop me. Crunches are coming along ok. I keep dreaming about having nice looking abs , but don't think I'll see them for real of awhile. |
Okay, I was a slacker Thursday morning. I should have exercised anyway, but I used the excuse of the mortgage re-fi signing to skip it. Bad Lala! Evening was better. PM stretch, crunches, and about half hour on the elliptical.
I am feeling a bit exercise-resistant this week for some reason. The I-don't-wannas are really rearing their ugly heads. I have (mostly) done it anyway, but not with the intensity and enthusiasm that I need. I hope this passes soon... -Lala |
lala- sorry you are getting the blahs...all I can say it get moving girl...
yesterday I did 25 mins on elliptical and 60 mins of weights...we went to the Rainforest cafe last night and I really thought I had a bad calories day..I had steak, shrimp and ribs with mixed veggies and the big no no..we all shared a brownie with ice cream...looked to good to pass up...but I did come in under my daily calories.. |
i missed my workout last night, i ran out of time! DD's softball game went too long. no classes today for me. i just caught myself trying to think it would be ok to skip tomorrow too (bad thought!!) tomorrow am i will wake up with the birds and get my butt in gear!!
sounds like you are all doing well. keep it up! |
Quote:
So I met a friend for lunch today that I hadn't seen since December, when I was around 285/290. He said "Wow! You're getting skinnified..." He's such a hoot! -Lala |
lala isn't it great when someone notices!! good for you girl! great job with your workout too.
i managed to do my 1 hr class this morning. i've got 10000 steps in so far and still lots to do. i think shopping should be counted as an aerobic exercise also, i power shopped today for easter dinner, all our regular stuff, and enough candy to make 3 kiddos high for weeks. 5 stores in 3 hours phew!!! i'm going out in the yard for a while to try and enjoy a little of this beautiful day before it is over. i hope the rest of you are doing well! |
Weekend recap
I had a pretty lazy weekend, actually. I did my AM stretches on Saturday morning and then... that was about it... until Sunday night, hubby and I walked three miles 'round the 'hood.
It was a really excellent weekend, though. Hubby was feeling all romantic and frisky and paid lots and lots of attention to me. On Saturday night he made dinner, then put on some soft music, lit candles, opened some wine... he's so sweet sometimes! Our seventh anniversary is later this year and he asked me if it was possible that we would get "the seven year itch" for each other... :o Today, however, it's back to the real world. I need to get up off my bum and get moving, then get ready for school. Aw crap, I didn't even do my homework this weekend, I just remembered.... Lala runs.... :running: -Lala |
My energized weekend (and Monday)
Well Saturday was very intense for me (insert sarcasm here) - water aerobics with no one under 80 years old and some swimming with sis (my daughter) in the class pool. I really do need to challenge her a bit more. I missed out on my spinning, but I did do about 40 minutes on the elliptical.
Sunday was really nice - I went to my gym and swam about 30 minutes, then got into the hot tub for 10 minutes - ahhh. I reinvigorated myself by using the sauna (we have two - one that is 141 degrees and the other is 191 - ouch). I used the cooler sauna - I hate sitting on burning wood. :yikes: Monday was my busiest day - Spinning :ebike: for 70 minutes and then yoga :yoga: for an hour. Needless to say, I'm a bit tired, but feeling very very good this morning! Keep up the good work ladies - you all are doing such a great job that it's hard to keep up with you! :cheer: |
Monday recap
ChaosKitty - Good work! It's nifty that you're able to get your daughter to go with you for some fun and exercise. You're doing fine, don't worry... I haven't tried spinning but it looks intense!
As for me... the ususal, though I was disinclined to work out last night but I am determined to ignore that impulse, it's no good for me. AM stretch, oh yeah, I did finally get up to 200 regular crunches for the first time (!), squats; I missed the afternoon walk, though; PM stretch and weights. Total crunches so far this month: 2505 Yay! I'm halfway to the goal of 4000... woot! I tried once to add crunches to the evening routine too, but I was in too much pain the next morning to do them in the AM routine... wound up only managing 20! Ouch! -Lala |
Ladies, you are just FABULOUS!!! :cheer: :cheer:
I've missed a couple of days... Saturday I got on the treadmill for 20 minutes and ran for 10 of those. Felt TERRIBLE afterwards. A little ill and rather wheezy. Did it again today (ran for 11 minutes this time, and a little faster), and it went well!! :hat: |
 to Ellis... You're feeling a bit stronger every day, don't worry, you'll be back to spiffy in no time!
-Lala |
Thanks, Lala... ... you're a sweetheart. :)
|
went to the water class last night 1hr. 7000 steps on monday, a little over 6000 yesterday.
chaos- wow thats some spinning! good job. lala- my abs are having sympathy pains for your crunches! keep up the great work! ellis- glad you are feeling better! keep it moving on the treadmill! |
Good for you, Jodi!! I'll bet you feel great! :hat:
Went to my 30 minute exercise class last night. :cheer: |
everyone is doing such a great job this month..I proud of you all...
Monday I took as a day off and yesterday I got in 30 min elliptical and 60 min weights and today I meet with my trainer...I've had a great week of eating so farand hope I can keep it up...no cheating this week for me.. |
thank you ellis! yes i do feel pretty good. great job getting to your class! we're getting there one step at a time!
donna- great job with no cheating! i wish i could say the same! good luck with the trainer!! how's everyone else doing? |
It went great with the trainer BUT I cheated...we went out to eat and my daughter wanted ice cream desert so we shared one but I did good on calories still....my trainer really worked me hard yesterday on my legs and cardio ...I did 25 min on elliptical waiting for my time and then he worked me out with legs exercise but really had my heart rate up there and I was sweating like crazy..then I did about 40 mins of weights on my legs and 30 mins on stationary bike.....today i went to the gym and did 30 min elliptical and 60 min weights..
|
I've been faking it again... sigh... I'm telling myself that i'm working out but I'm not really putting any effort into it. I got to that lovely 254 and must have totally freaked myself out. I ate a bunch of salty crap and jumped back to 257 and haven't been able to get rid of it for three days.
Monday I did my AM stretch, crunches, and calisthenics. No afternoon walk. PM stretches and halfhearted weights. Tuesday, same AM routine. No afternoon walk. Should have done elliptical, and did nothing. Wednesday, same AM routine (at least I'm still doing crunches.... I guess). No afternoon walk. PM stretches and 23 minutes on the elliptical, but no intensity to it. Thursday, same AM routine. No afternoon walk. Then nothing... absolutely nothing. I'm not depressed... I'm not bingeing... TOM is gone... where have I lost it? Why am I trying to lie to myself again, thinking that my exercise was okay when it clearly is not? Grumble grumble grumble... :frypan: -Lala |
You guys are doing fantastic!
Donna - I'm going to start really working the weights - right now I'm just piddling around with them. I have a small bicep (or two) growing, but right now you'd need a microscope to see it. LOL :wl: Jodi - I'm definitely into the water aerobics. I feel soooo tired afterwards that I know it has to be doing something for me. The next day I feel so revitalized that I know it had to be my efforts in the water. You are doing great! :cp: ellis - I'm glad you are feeling better! And you jumped right back into the exercise - you GO girl!! lala - I'm starting to do my crunches - omg, I feel like someone kicked me! But I know it's only helping me - and my back, too! I am in aw of your success and dedication! :bravo: I'm doing the same ol' - spinning, yoga, and a bit of weightlifting (this is something I need to work on!) and only a bit of time on the elliptical, bad me! I hope to do better this weekend and the week coming up. I also had a body composition testing done on Wednesday - I have it on my fitday if you'd like to read about it. It's quite interesting and should help me as I continue my journey to getting the pounds off. Great work everyone! It's only going to make us feel better... :balloons: |
I just realized that I'm still not working out my stomach...One of my goals this month was to work on my stomach more and I haven't...starting today I am going to do a stomach workout everyday..I have a dvd that has 3 different 10 min stomach workouts and I'm going to start doing one everyday...I can't believe that I keep working out every thing else but forget my belly..I'm starting to tone up some and I'm still losing inches but I just can't tell in my belly area...
I skipped the gym today but I've been cleaning the house since I got home from work... Lala- hang in there..you can do it...maybe your body just needs a break from all that exercising you've been doing...and also salt sometimes takes a while to get back out of your system...try drinking more water for the next few days.. chaoskitty-weights will really help you shape up and feel stronger...also the more muscle you have helps with losing weight too |
ok, to make up for my not so good eating and general blah to the exercise feelings this week i went to, 2 count them, 2 classes this morning. i also swam at my own slow pace for about 30 minutes or so. i got in 10000 steps yeaterday (on a week day yeah!!) we are going to spring clean 2 rooms here today shortly (as a family) this should be good lol!! DH asked me if i wanted to try tennis??? very odd for him to ask but good, i really feel like he is trying to support me. i'll give it a shot i guess, i never played before but if it gets my butt moving it can't be all that bad right? so if it isn't raining tomorrow am we have a tennis date. gosh i neve thought i'd say something like that without total disgust in my voice LOL. this exercise thing keeps growing on me.
great job with your workouts donna good luck with those abs!! keep it up chaos you are doing great!! how long ago was your surgery if you don't mind me asking?? lala- try switching things up a little bit maybe a new exciting addition to your program will grab your interest. keep up the great work though!! even half an attempt is much better than no attempt at all!!! ellis?? hello ellis?? oh she must be on her treadmill and can't hear me saying "get it moving chick!!!" |
oh my goodness i just played tennis.:carrot: it was fun!! we played about 1 1/2 hour. i worked up a good sweat and i am so tired now! DH beat me we played 2 matches ?? sets?? not sure of the lingo yet lol. DH and i made it a standing date, sunday am tennis match through the summer. DH and i are both pretty competitive so i'll be sneaking the kids out to the court during the week to practice with me :lol3: hope you are all enjoying your sunday!!
|
Hi girls! You all are my :kickbutt: when it comes to getting out and moving it! I'm going to my gym today but I think I'll do the elliptical for 30 minutes, swim for 30 minutes, then relax in the spa, and sauna.
It sounds as if you all will have a great week this week - I know I'm going to be very busy with my workouts. I can't wait to read how all of you have done! Oh jodi - I had my surgery on 8/3/04 so I'm coming up on end of my 2 year window. With this surgery, you lose your greatest amount of weight the first year, and during the second it slows down. After the 2nd year, the honeymoon is over, and then I'll really have to buckle down and lose the rest of my weight pretty much on my own. Good luck to everyone - go get 'em! :encore: |
chaos- good for you getting to the gym today, sounds like a great sunday plan with the sauna! hope you enjoy. thanks for explaining about your surgery. my neighbor had the gastric bp a year ago, i didn't see much of her all winter and when she came out of the house last weekend i didn't recognize her lol. she has lost a lot of weight in a year!! she says she is at 71% of her goal. so i was just curious about yours. great job so far!! keep up the wonderful work!
|
I got in my ab workout on fri like I said but sat I was a little sore so I skiped it but today I'm going to do abs again and also go to the gym for elliptical and weights...
Jodi-Glad you enjoyed the tennis and now you have a weekly event to look forward to..now get that practice and kick your dh and show him how it's done.. chaos-have you started working with the weights yet? get thoses muscles moving..:strong: |
Hi all! I'm back from our little weekend road trip, so no exercise for me this weekend, other than stretching out at rest stops, of course! I'm running late this morning as I overslept and I've been sitting here for far too long catching up on posts, but I want to at least get some stretching in this morning before I head out for the day.
Happy Monday! -Lala |
Ack!! I'm so behind!!
Let's see... I got in a 2 1/2 hour walk last Thursday. And I just got back from a 1 1/2 hour walk. Must get on the treadmill again soon... :running: You are all doing fabulously, dah'lings. :cheer: |
I guess no posting means that we've all been a bit lax, eh? Yeah, me too. I seem to have reacquired my boogie as of this morning, though. The depression fog seems to have finally blown away!
I didn't exercise yesterday (Tuesday) morning, but I did do my evening stretches and rode the elliptical for a full 30 minutes. Then, I got up and did my AM stretches, crunches, and squats. I tried to whine myself out of the full 200 crunches, but was too stubborn to listen to myself... I have a good bit of work to do if I'm still going to make it to 4000 crunches this month. Hmmm... let's see, I'm at 3215 as of this morning so... oooh... I can just do it with four days left, I need to do at least 196.25 crunches per day for the next four days. I can do that! I hope everyone is doing okay! -Lala |
hmmm let's see, water class was monday 1hr, yesterday was nothing, i pulled a muscle in my back (i think i over did it a bit sat-mon.) and i was flat on my back all evening!! felling better today but still not going to push it. if i am up to it tomorrow i'll go to the water class.
lala- glad to hear you are out of the rut. good luck meeting your goal for the month!! 4000 crunches is awesome! everyone is doing great!! only a few days left of april heck where did the time go?? sheesh!! get those muscles moving girls, we all need a strong finish!! |
Wow ..why can't I remember to do my crunches...I did them on friday and sunday...today my trainer had me do some wierd kind of stomach workout..maybe I'll do more tonight...My trainer worked out my arms good today...they feel like they are going to fall off..lol...I also did 45 mins on stationary bike and then came home and cut grass and edged yard...I'm ready for a nap..
yesteray I did 30 mins bike and 60 mins weights jodi-hope your back is ok and it feels better soon.. lala-your doing a great job...keep it up...sometimes your body just needs that break..glad to hear your motivated again.. |
I think we are all doing really good! We definitely do need a strong finish to the month.
Lala - the work you are doing on your abs is just awe-inspiring!! I'm starting to do a bit, but boy it would be almost next to impossible to beat your total! You are on FIRE :flame: - FANTASTIC work! Too bad they don't have a small icon for bowing - I'd use it here! dgpebbles - how can you possibly work an HOUR on weights - and after 30 minutes on a bike?? I think after about 20 minutes of lifting, my arms are about to fall off!! You are HOT HOT! :hot: And then afterwards mowed grass? (I mowed mine for the first time this year and couldn't believe how tired I was afterwards). Do you have a large "S" on your chest? LOL ellis - you sound on the road to better health - great news! I have to admit I've not been walking - and no treadmill either :kickbutt: I think I need to switch to another form of exercise (not that spinning is getting easier) but I am getting used to it. Stay well... jodi - At my 2 year check up with the surgeon, I would love to show that I've lost 100 percent of my weight (which would be 104 lbs). Right now I'm about 73 percent lost, if I'm calculating that right. Not too many people make it to the 100 percent. I sure hope your back is doing better - I sure know how painful it can be. Take it easy... You all are doing so terrifically - I know we will have a super strong finish at the end of April. So lets get out there and :kickbutt: (I just love these little guys...) For good health's sake... kitty :) |
Wednesday recap
g'morning everyone!
Chaoskitty - i can't take credit for the 4000 crunches, I was inspired by plb. She set the goal for herself first and I told her I'd do it with her. I started out in January only doing 20 or 30, 10 at a time. In Feb I got up to 100 and by March was doing 150. I got up to 180 in April until I took up plb's challenge, and have pushed to doing 200 every morning, 25 at a time. Holy cow, does it hurt, though! I feel really good afterward, however. dgp - You work out like a fiend! And mowing the lawn on top of that. Good grief! I hope I can get to that level of commitment someday... jodi - Oooh, sorry 'bout your back! I so know how that feels, I put my back out relatively frequently. Take good care of it and don't overdo it, you don't want to end up with permanent back problems... ellis - We're still here with ya, luv! I've got enough boogie back to lend if you'd like to borrow a little! as for me: Weds: AM stretches, crunches, squats; lots of walking, but nothing intense; PM stretches, 20 minute elliptical. Good luck and have fun everybody... Happy Thursday! -Lala |
i just got back from the Y, i soaked in the hot tub and then did the water class. feeing real good right now. i also had to stop and get a new pedometer i bandged into something at work and smashed my old one to bits. this one talks, very odd!! i'm trying to program it to say "get off yer arse chubby":lol3:
nothing planned for exercise tomorrow but i'll go back for the class on saturday, more spring cleaning this weekend and then there is the tennis game on sunday. trying to think of a new little goal to add for May??? hmm maybe some weights? we'll see. donna- my back is much better thanks! sheesh what a workout!! who needs to remember the crunches after all that. keep up the great work!! chaos- keep working hard you'll get to your goal! i think the amount you have lost so far is just inspiring! kudos to you!! lala- i know all about back problems been dealing with it since i was 16, i'm feeling much better now just one of those angry muscle things. your crunches are just amazing to me!! i have to ask are you noticing a big difference?? i really need to tone up my tummy maybe i'll make that my goal for may 10 crunches a day to start and work up from there. keep up the great work everyone!!! have a great evening! |
Thursday recap
Good Morning!
Jodi - I can't say that I notice a "big" difference, no... :( I'm just too darn big to be able to see the muscles building there, unfortunately - I have a 47" waist and 53" hips, so the abdomen is pretty fatty still. The changes are more subtle. When I exercise I feel like I can kinda-sorta "see" shadows of indentations of the upper abs where before was just a roll. When I lay down my belly is a good bit flatter and... ummm... well, my husband and I can get much closer now, let's just say that. I have also lost 3 inches in the waist, 3.5 in the hip/lower abdomen area, and 1 inch at the chest (under the boobs), but I can't attribute all of that to the crunches. So anyway, it's more things that I feel than things that I see, I guess. But I know it's building muscle under there, and that's gotta be a good thing! Thursday: I did all of my usual scheduled stuff, AM/PM, squats, crunches, etc. Well, I could only manage 150 crunches - I was feeling fuzzy headed so I had a spoonful of peanut butter before I went back to exercise, then I wanted to throw up whilst doing crunches and had to stop. Blech... Then when hubby got home from school we went for two laps around the neighborhood, about 3 miles. He and I were talking last night and I'm a bit frustrated... I have seen a lot of improvement in all of my exercises except for the elliptical. I have been doing between 20 and 30 minutes at the lowest level for... two months, now, and I can't seem to get any better. Level 2 kicks my butt too much and I can't seem to make myself do any longer than 30 minutes... heck, sometimes I really force myself to stay on a whole 30 minutes. Maybe it's just not the right exercise for me, but it's the only cardio I have available right now... hmmm... I'll have to think on it a bit... Happy Friday! -Lala |
crap i slept in and missed my class, needed the sleep though so i'll find a way today to make up for the exercise. supposed to be a beautiful day here and i have a kitchen and laundry room calling out for a good spring cleaning. i'm still on for the tennis match tomorrow with DH. i know i'll beat him this time! hope all of you chicks are doing well!!
