January Chat!
Good morning, all!
I forgot to start the new chat yesterday. :D I'm EXTREMELY irritable this morning. I've gained back the pound I lost this week. Hopefully it's only due to TOM... How's everyone doing? Hopefully getting back on track with the food and exercise... :carrot: Come on in... anyone and everyone is welcome. :grouphug: |
Hi and happy New Year everyone... we have just come back from our family holiday which was quite a mixed bag... but it was fairly relaxing and we met some great people.
Today I started back on phase 1 of SBD and feel really good for that decision... I also got up and took my daughter for a walk and a play in the park - we had great fun! I am feel quite positive about my weight at the moment.. I did a few things while on holiday that I normally wouldn't like swimming etc and I fel like I have a better appreciation for my body how it is right now rather than having a seige mentality which is a very positive step. Hope everyone is having a great New Year :) |
Hi ladies can I join in?
I am back on track today with my WW. I have been doing it since July and had lost 20lbs but put back on 4lbs over the holidays. I WI today and have lost a tiny .2lbs but it is better than a gain. We had a great holiday season and I am glad to be back on track now. I am happy that I found this site and am looking forward to getting to know you ladies!! Oh I guess I should introduce myself....I am Wanda 35, I am married to an awesome guy. We are currently in the process of adopting a beautiful baby boy named Noah. I am an RN in L&D and am currently on leave to take care of our little guy. |
Happy New Year, ladies!
Marianna, so glad you had fun with your daughter. :) You're having nice weather, eh? Interested in some snow? ;) Wanda, welcome! I love your son's name... Congratulations on getting back on track! :hat: I've been very sluggish the last few days, but I've just put my running shoes on, and am considering getting on the treadmill... :D |
Yep.. I would love some snom - I have never seen it... plus it was 37 degrees here yesterday and the humidity is really high... at least it is cooler after our big storm last night... whew!
|
hi there! i'd like to join too. marianna nice to see someone else in metric too
i was doing really well but today i binged. no excuse it was a GOOD day. i just got overexcited and started chowing down grrr oh well look forward to chatting to you all |
Welcome, Sweet Pea!!
Yes, it's nice to see metric, isn't it? I like to complain about the weather, and I always have to convert to Imperial for my darling American friends here. ;) Congratulations on your loss to date! :hat: I DID get on the treadmill yesterday... feeling pretty good about that. :) But this morning, DH said he was on it last night, and there's something wrong with it. CURSES!! Going to check it out... Have a great day, all! :grouphug: |
HI all still a little slow getiing into the swing of things. DH finally went back to work today. I love him to death, but I can't exercise when he is around. I didn't do bad with the food, but it could have been a little better.
Marrianna~I am dying. you said it was warm, then 37. I actually had to stop and think, then I remembered you are down under and I started laughing. I though I had read it wrong. I am not good with metric, but I do know that 37 is pretty darn hot. My Mom and sister are leaving tommorrow for sydney. THey are going to visit some friends for about 3 weeks. I just did the conversoin. it is only 4 here. Boy are they going to love winter down there (I know it is summer) We are actually warm for this time of year we are usually in the teens to 20's (f) (-6 to -9c) but are enjoying this warm up for another day or two. Maybe I will go for a walk. Have a great day all! |
I wrote a long post yesterday and then the site wouldn't let me post it.:?: Happy New Year all and welcome to the newbies. I went off program again lsat week and was not as controlled as I was during Christmas weekend. I think it had to do with the binge syndrome and the fact that the party would be over after New Years. Sigh. So I weighed in at the clinic Tuesday night, expecting to have gained 2-3 lbs and low and behold I lost 1 lb!:D So I celebrated by finishing off the bottle of wine I had and washing down a turkey sand. Sigh. It's a struggle getting back on track. I have started exercising a bit though. Monday I went for the first long walk in years and it didn't bother me. And I've started walking during my lunch hours instead of staying in an reading, although I do love to read.
How is everyone doing? |
Welcome back, Ellen and Rosetta! :grouphug:
Ellen, I am so with you re: exercising when DH is around. I love mine dearly, too, but as well as being a secret eater, I am a secret exerciser. I don't want ANY comments on my progress. (or lack, thereof) Rosetta, I'm sorry about your lost post. :( The site has been overloaded of late with new people making resolutions. ;) Congratulations on losing! :hat: AND on walking! It's hard to do, but you feel so good afterwards, don't you? I'm feeling terribly sluggish... I don't know what's wrong with me. I think it may be the weather. I'd give anything to sit outside on the verandah for some fresh air with a book and a coffee. :( I HATE winter. I just went outside and did some shoveling, so I'm feeling a little energized... Hope everyone is well! |
Rosetta~Congats on your loss. I wish I could say the same. I have gained 3# since christmas. Keep up the good work.
Ellis~I can exercise when DH is around, but we had so many things planned I never got around to it. Next Week will be better. So, I actually stayed OP today!!! Yay! At least I have one thing going for me! Things went pretty well. I got DS up and dressed for school and the other 5 all got up about 30-45 mins after that. My siblings all got down to their woork after DS got on the bus. (they are home-schooled) Lucky for me, my mom only left a modified day for them to do while they are here with me. Dh came home around 1pm and we left two with the oldest and took the other three and went food shopping. (The oldest had it easy, the two we left with him were napping) THen we had a nice dinner and MY dad stopped by (the kids forgot their toothbrushes) He stayed for dinner and we had a nice visit. Although, I did fold laudry while he was here, but now it is all done. I still have to put it away tomorrow because some of the lkittle ones already were in bed. But I should beable to knock it out while they are eating breackfast in the morning. So far the routine is working well. still some kinks to work out, but only one more day until the weekend! What a crazy month this will be! :dizzy: Sorry for the rambling. Have a great Friday Everyone!! :dancer: |
Howdy.. yep our weather is pretty hot at the moment - about 100 degrees farenheit (according to the conversin table I just looked at). We have some cooler weather coming and I am really looking forward to it :D On the plus side of the heat is the desire to eat salad and light food - which is wonderful for my south beach  but not so good for exercise... so I am happy just to focus on the food for a bit...
upswife.. great to read that you had an OP day - congrats to you :) I hope that your family like Sydney.. I haven't been myself. I am going later in the year though to visit a friend. I am told that it is very beautiful. ellis.. hope you are fighting off the winter blues soon. I can imagine that such cold weather would be hard to manage as well  rosettastone.. going for walks at lunch is great. I have a uni buddy that we have lunch and then a walk with and it always makes me feel much more focused for afternon lectures :smug: sweet_pea.. I think metric is so much more simple. I find the pounds system a little too complicated. BUT of course, it is all what you are used to  I hope that you are feeling better after the binge day.. it can be so hard to stop.. water or going for a walk can be my only saviour lately. Well this week I am doing really well so far. I think coming to this forum and staring my eating disorder in the face has given me a measure of peace.. before I just kept lying to myself.. hey I have pcos and insulin resistance, my nanna is big - I must just take after her etc etc. My husband bought me a beautiful journey called the sacred journey and it is to begin journalling every day and to specifically to feel grounded and to remember the bigger picture and your goals.. it seems to keep me focused every day. I like to end the day reading or writing in it.. very helpful. I wish you all much positive vibes for a great weekend. |
Good morning ladies. I am relatively new here to 3FC and am enjoying reading about each of you. I started WW at home just before Christmas and was able to keep in control (well, except for 3 days of holiday eating) and am proud to say that as of 4 days ago, I have dropped 4 pounds. I am motivated to make this journey AGAIN and am happy to be here to do it. I need all of the support I can get as I live alone and temptation is always there. My next goal is to start getting some activity in my life. Maybe I'll dust off that treadmill in the basement. I haven't used it in years.
|
:welcome3: Gypsyladie. Great job on the loss so far!
|
Welcome, Gypsyladie!
Congratulations on the four pounds! :hat: Yes, dust off that treadmill and join us in the exercise thread. :) Ellen, good going staying OP!! I can't wait until the kids go back to school this coming week. I'm so looking forward to getting back into my own routines. Marianna, what a lovely gift from your DH. Some men know just what to get. :) I'm glad you're feeling some peace, hon. And thank you for the hug... it's much appreciated. :) I'm feeling pretty good today. 100F, eh? My gosh. Is it humid, or dry? Sounds like DEATH! Funny about the metric system... we started learning it when I was in... maybe around grade 8. So I was already deeply "committed" to the old Imperial system. Now, I know my height in feet and my weight in pounds, but I only "know" temperatures, cooking measurements, speeds and lengths (other than my height!) in metric. It's like learning another language. Some things I just have to keep converting in my head. Having said that, it is -22C (-7F) right now with the wind chill. :D Darned cold, although nothing like we sometimes get. Last year we got a number of days in the -40C. Yesterday I went to Ikea with my mom and sister. Mom bought me a new duvet (early b-day gift), and I bought a duvet cover. (green with funky dots) We were lovely and warm last night. Our old down duvet was driving me NUTS! All the down had shifted tightly to the edges. I'm babbling... Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! Eat well, and get some exercise! :grouphug: |
Hi gypsyladie and welcome to the forum :welcome: congrats on your weight loss so far
Ellis... we are very humid... very :^: My week is going well. I have a social policy paper due soon, so I am researching that. But I find it rather interesting so that is fine... I watched an interesting movie called "what the bleep do we know" last night.. which was quirky but thought provoking. It talked about how the entire amount of matter in the universe is simply thoughts.. it talked about impermanence and interconnectedness and how we have the ability to alter our reality through our thoughts... that we aren't tied into the same patterns of behaviour and how we can become addicted to some behaviours... it was recommended by a buddhist chat group that I visit.. but it doesn't specifically talk about buddhism.. it was very good. I was left feeling very refreshed and hopeful about the path I am on to changing my own behaviours and patterns. |
Weigh in was yesterday and I am back down to pre christmas yay! I finally got thpose three pounds to drop!!
Ellis~Wow is it cold there. and I complain when we get to the teens(F) Sorry I have to run to church I don't have the conversion table infront of me. Marrianna~I hate the humidity. It makes me look like a french poodle. :D ((hugs )) chicas I have to run!! |
Oh yeah.. I feel your pain about the fuzz in the humidity.. shocking stuff :o
|
Oops hit post too early
I had my weekly weighin and I am down 1.2 kilos for the week.. which is great. I had pasta last night which I just wasn't able to stop with. I had even set up to have zucchini ribbons with the sauce instead of the pasta.. but I thought I would have just a few bits of pasta.. which ended up being 2 bowls full :^: bugger it.. I have been very good with avoiding my trigger foods.. so I am not beating myself up for one slip... I ended up sleeping very badly last night as well.. but back on track today! I hope everyone else is well. |
Good morning, all!
Ellen, so glad you got those pounds back off! :hat: Marianna, you, too! On Saturday, I gained six pounds. Count 'em. Six. I've dropped four this morning, but I'm not pleased with myself. I know why I gained. DH told me about a medically supervised weight-loss program here, and offered to pay for it. Some of the costs will be covered by health care and insurance. I can't wait to start! I have my first appointment near the end of the month. I'll have appointments with a doctor, a nutritionist, and a personal trainer. Anyhow, naturally I thought, "May as well eat hearty now! No point in losing weight before I start!" duh  So, I'm back on track today. I sent the rest of the biscotti to work with DH (one of my many indiscretions), dumped the remainder of the chips in the garbage, and I'm OFF TO THE RACES!! :D I hope everyone has a good day! :grouphug: |
Hi Ladies!
Great job Marianna and Ellis!!:bravo: I had no incentives and I still ate horribly this weekend. Saturday was not bad at all I think I had 1250 cal but yesterday I really just pigged out. But I am back on track today!! I even got up early and exercised. So all I have to is stay op today. keep your fingers crossed. Feeling good today so I know I can do it!! |
Upswife... You can do it - I am keeping all of my apendages crossed for you :D
Ellis.. biscotti hey??? I can see the temptation but great that you were able to pull it back and throw out the crappy stuff.. I hope that the new program is great. I came here to confess :^: I had a massive binge last night.. but on fruit! I know that sounds odd - but I just ate way too much and even though it wasn't *bad* food as such - it was all I had in the house.... grrrrr. The thing that made me the most angry was that it was over my daughter (3.5y) and her eating dinner - or not. For some reason I became totally irrational because she wouldn't eat her vegies - despite the fact that she eats loads of fruit... I swore I wouldn't make meals a battleground and force my child into eating - but there I was last night.. going mental about a forkfull of peas  I have no idea what possessed me - she eats well, a balanced array of food, but I just couldn't help myself... blech. |
Marianna~don't beat yourself up. I think that as a parent we sometimes go overboard. Also, it is what we are used to. I alwasy had to claer my plate, so now my kids do too. Although I hardly ever have to tell them to finish. but they do go in phases, for a long time my son would leave the meat, but eat the veggies, and now he eats the meat and tries to leave the veggies. And then there are some days when he eats it all and I don't have to worry about it.
My point (since I started rambling) don't worry about it as long as you are stressing good eating. Which you said you are. ((hugs)) don't get stressed, she will turn around and surprise you. |
Marianna, big hugs from me, too.
I can so relate to the kids thing. :( I remember having days when I'd yell at them and bang on the table. Or cry. I don't know what the solution is, although my 16 year old daughter is now VERY polite about my meals, and my 9 year old son is getting better. Hang in there, hon... :grouphug: Ellen, are you OP today, girl? ;) |
Thanks for the support - I feel all teary
I hope you both have great positive days today :D |
I didn't do too badly today~but I did hit the higher calorie amount, but I am ok with that. I figure with the extra kids (and stress) as long as I don't completely pig out and keep up withthe exercise. I will at least stay the same. I know my siggy has a v-day goal, but I was not sure how I was going to handle the extra kids. I did get in 64oz of water, and I am thirsty, so I am shooting to get in another 16-32oz b4 bed. That should keep me ahead of the game.
I got to go to work this afternoon, but there were no patients, so I filed for an hour then left. DH has been so very supportive with all the extra stress, so he said I sould go shopping. I went to the mall and just cruised around for about an hour and a half. I only really found one shirt that lookd good so, I bought it. DH really likes it! Well, I have to run to bed Gotta get up early tomorrow to exercise. |
Glad to hear you had a good shopping experience.. I dread shopping....
Today was fairly good, I got a sleep in and my husband took my daughter out to the uni kindy... I went out to uni and had lunch with a friend and then saw a student adviser about the direction I am taking with my studies.. I found it incredibly helpful.. which was great - I was expecting to get a bit of a wrap on the knuckles for doing so little and changing direction lately. But she was incredibly complimentary about being a mamma and studying. Made me feel good. It also reminded me of the reason why I am there and also what a privilege it is to be able to go to university. |
Hope you don't mind if I re-join this group. I have not been diagnosed as a compulsive eater but do have all the symptoms and need to get a grip on things.
|
Ceejay, of course you can join us again! Welcome back, hon.
Marianna, so glad you got some positive reenforcement. :) It's so important, isn't it? Ellen, glad you had a good time shopping! I'm terribly thirsty lately... I think it must be a result of the cold weather and being inside with the furnace running. I'm really dry. :p |
Ceejay.. welcome back to the forum :)
|
Hi all. I've been busy at work and haven't had time to post. I'm still cheating on my diet, but judiciously: turkey and tuna sandwiches, healthy salads and no desserts. Well...there's popcorn (how can you say no to a freebie?) and wine to wash down the sandwiches. Sigh. Despite this I lost another 2 lbs. last week. Go figure. I did however, manage to walk up two medium steep hills last weekend without stopping in the middle of them. Haven't done that in a long while. Still walking on my lunch hour. Will have to get a regular exercise practice going.
Ellis - that's terrific about the medically supervised weight loss program. I'm eager to hear the details when you know them. I know all about "last meals." I think i gained 5-6 lbs. before my fast. Thank goodness I only had a few days between the time I signed up and the start date. I did lose 12 lbs the first week though. You're smart in not trying to binge for a whole month just because you're starting a program. Keep up your strenghth. Many of the women in our program have lost the same amount of weight as I have but some had less to lose. One woman my age showed up at the group last week in a sexy outfit, looking totally different from the way she's been all along. Guess there's hope for me. Better get back on track. |
Thanks for the welcome back. It has been awhile.
Ellis--I've tried Metabolic Weight loss for awhile but I hated to take all those supplements although I have to admit it did curb the binges. I don't know if if it was the combination of things or the chromium. I'm taking a multivitamin with chromium in it. We'll see how that works. Rosettastone--A two pound loss is great. Did you used to be with ediets.com? I remember this name for some reason. Hello to the rest:wave: I'm looking forward to meeting all of you. |
Ellis~Great news about the program!! Good luck, I hope you learn a tone of new and imprtant things!(like how to get rid of all this fat overhight ;) )
Rosetta ~great job on the loss I wish I have lost that!! I am just getting my exercise back in, so I have lost the holiday weight, but I am stable so far. Hoping next wekk goes better. Things with the kiddies are getting better, but i still cant wait for my mom to get back. I e-mailed her today, so hopefully she will return!! But knowing that she gets all the kiddies for a week after she gets back might motivate her to stay down under. Well chick, I have to work in hte morning, so I will bid you all good night. |
Quote:
Darling, I KNOW all the answers, I just need someone to tell me to DO IT!! :lol3: That's the problem, isn't it? Most of us know everything there is to know about weight loss/exercise. We just have to get off our behinds and do it! :dizzy: Rosetta, we've missed you! Thanks for the encouragement... I can't WAIT to start! I'm glad you're still losing... AND cheating sensibly! ;) Ceejay, I'm not keen on the idea of suppliments, either. But right now, I'll do almost anything. How is everyone today? Having a good weekend? I can't believe it... it's actually snowing! We've been having unusually warm weather lately, and it's been raining for the past two days or so. (love it!) The temperature is dropping again... darn! That means the canal might reopen, and I'll have to go skating! |
Hello ladies!! I am off to a slow start this week, but I am recommitted after today. I just lost it and now I am goignto pay for it. I will post again tomorrow, I have to get some sleep. Have to get up and get ds off to school.
Later chicas |
hey all would love to join in this thread.
I can't seem to get control of my night time binging and the more I try the more I seem to fail. I'm so sick of "dieting" and being really good during the day and then absolutely losing all control at night. Would appreciate your support |
Chaarli, welcome! We're all here for each other, hon... :grouphug: ... hang in there.
|
Howdy everyone.. we have just come back from a beach mini holiday - it was very lovely.. did loads more activity than normal which was also a bonus.
Hi and welcome Chaarli.. night time is my worst as well. I have no advice - just support |
Hi Chaarli, and fellow dieters,
Nighttime is the worst for me also. I am trying cad, and try not to overeat at night. It is hard though, but we are here to support each other. Shirl |
Yeah it doesn't matter how good I am during the day...and I am good I can't seem to get the night under control.
I'm trying to make myself only have 1 OP treat at night but sometimes I end up having 2 or 3 and then just lose it. I'll have to see what I can do to make it better...maybe if I ate my dinner later then I wouldn't cheat..or would I be so starving that I would eat everything in sight. Who knows, I guess I'll have to lay around with my meals for a while to see what works best. |
