Missy, I am so sorry about your cousin. My thoughts are with you. I agree with the others that dancing will help lift your spirits.
I just got back from the gym. Nothing is going on at work today, so I took a long lunch break - 15 minutes of weights and then I ran 4 miles on the treadmill in 40:30. *** 12/01 - 12/07 - 304 minutes 12/08 - 48 minutes - 15 weights; 33 treadmill (just over 3 miles) 12/09 - nothing 12/10 - 65 minutes total - 35 yoga; 30 elliptical 12/11 - 40 minutes - yoga 12/12 - 45 minutes - elliptical 12/13 - 55 minutes total - 15 weights; 41 treadmill (4 miles) 12/14 12/15 October = 1176; November = 1235 |
Happy Wednesday! It's the middle of the week, and back to the killer schedule for me. After 2 evenings off, which I really enjoyed, our pageant resumes tonight. 7 more performances between now and Sunday evening. As well as my full-time job, not to mention tending to my family! Not much time to think, only to do. However, I must say the pageant is great fun, though it is exhausting. I play a villainous character, and it's fun to act like a stinker!
This morning I decided to be brave and try my Christi Taylor Totally Hot Cardio workout. It has quite complex choreography, so I stuck with mostly the low impact moves just so I could get it. There were still some bits that I didn't quite get the feel of, but I got most of it and was able to add some of the higher impact moves. I got worked up a wonderful sweat and it was a fun and fast way to spend 48 minutes. I will definitely tackle it again soon. Have a wonderful day! |
Did 20 minutes on the treadmill today including a 10 minute straight run. :)
Keep up the great work, girls!! :cheer: :cheer: |
I went home and did Crunch's fat-burning yoga dvd with Sara Ivanhoe.
Dancing Angel - I hope your pageant is going well. I am curious, how tall are you? Ellis - keep it up with the running! Hello -- I'm tired and weary, but pumped. The pageant is going well, and my co-workers came to last night's performance. That was so sweet of them, and it meant a lot to me! 4 days and 6 performances to go -- I think I see a dim light at the end of the tunnel. I know there will be a let-down when it's over! But there will also be some sleep, and that sounds pretty good right now!! :dz:
FishWoman, I'm all of 5'1". Just a shorty!! Just remember, dynamite comes in small packages. This morning I dragged myself out of a warm bed and did Crunch Burn and Firm Pilates -- 47 minutes. Lots of stretching, which felt good, with some nice cardio as well! All right -- it's on with the day! May yours be healthy, happy and sweaty. :ginger: :candy: |
I lifted weights and then ran 2 miles on the treadmill.
Dancing Angel - 5'1" isn't *too* short;) I am only 5'4". I was curious because I was wondering what I would look like at 115 (thinking I would be way too skinny) but didn't want to say anything negative in case you were like 5'7" or something! *** 12/01 - 12/07 - 304 minutes 12/08 - 48 minutes - 15 weights; 33 treadmill (just over 3 miles) 12/09 - nothing 12/10 - 65 minutes total - 35 yoga; 30 elliptical 12/11 - 40 minutes - yoga 12/12 - 45 minutes - elliptical 12/13 - 55 minutes total - 15 weights; 41 treadmill (4 miles) 12/14 - 40 minutes - yoga 12/15 - 38 minutes total - 17 weights; 21 treadmill (2 miles) October = 1176; November = 1235 |
Just did 33 minutes on the elliptical today.
Yes, I know it's a weird number! The stupid machine pre-programs for 28 minutes with a 5-minute cooldown period. I haven't figured out how to override it, and people were on both of the only 2 ellipticals in the gym that I actually like. *** 12/01 - 12/07 - 304 minutes 12/08 - 12/14 - 293 minutes 12/15 - 38 minutes total - 17 weights; 21 treadmill (2 miles) 12/16 - 33 minutes - elliptical 12/17 12/18 12/19 12/20 12/21 12/22 12/23 12/24 12/25 12/26 12/27 12/28 12/29 12/30 12/31 October = 1176; November = 1235 |
Hello! Saturday I did a 35 minute yoga dvd (crunch pilates fun with yoga). Sunday I did my home elliptical for 40 minutes while watching "What Not to Wear" on TLC. I love that show!
TLC was running a "What Not to Wear" marathon yesterday. I watched 5 or 6 episodes. Then I hated all my clothes this morning while trying to pick something for work. I wish I could have $5000 of someone elses money to buy clothing. I would even let them make fun of what I already own:D Dancing Angel - how did the last days of your pageant go? I am sure you were wonderful! *** Hi again! I just got back from the gym. Fishwoman, you're doing great, girl!! :hat:
Decided "the heck with my cough", and got on the treadmill for 20 minutes today... I hope it wasn't a mistake... I feel like I'm going to cough up a lung now. |
Hello! Well, it's time for me to catch up on my posting. It's back to reality for me! No more marathon days of working 8-5, followed by pageant performances. Fishwoman, thanks for asking -- it went great and was more fun than anybody should have in church! Although I noticed my ego took just a bit of a bruising! I played a mean person, and a lot of people expressed dislike for my character. I got a lot of "I'm sure you are a nice lady in real life" type comments. My cast-mates said I obviously did my job well. In a particular scene, my character had water thrown in her face, which always got laughs and some applause as well, and a small part of me was always just the least bit hurt at being laughed at! Although it was great fun and I'd do it another 2 weeks if I could hold out. Sure wore me out!!
So, exercise. Here's what I've done since last I posted: Fri -- Crunch Cardio Salsa -- 38 minutes Sat -- Crunch Time (from the Kick Butt series) -- 43 minutes Sun -- Prevention 3-2-1 (Circuit workout) -- 48 minutes Mon -- Kathy Smith's Power Step workout -- 55 minutes Tues -- ABCD workout (Giselle) -- Abs/Glutes (17 min) + Body Toning (26 min) for a total of 43 minutes Today -- Kathy Smith's Kickboxing workout -- 50 minutes So the exercise has been kept fairly consistant in the midst of the chaos! If only I could say the same about sleep! But I have a few days off starting Friday, so perhaps I'll get caught up on some of that. I look forward to reading what everybody else is up to! :clause: :rudolph: |
Hello to all! All I have to do is get through this workday and then I get to be off for almost a week! I'm ready. I'm getting back into a somewhat normal sleep pattern and am feeling a little more like myself!
This morning I did a QuickFix Cardio Hip-Hop routine (10 minutes) and The Firm's Time Crunch workout (43 minutes). Total 53 minutes. This was only the second time I did the Time Crunch; the first time through I HATED it, but this morning I really enjoyed it! It combines cardio with strength training so both your muscles and your heart get a good going over. I'm sure I'll be doing it more often. I hope everybody is making wise food choices (it's not always easy!!) and is remembering to keep up the exercise habit! We need it now more than ever. Have a wonderful, productive and heart-pumping day.:dancer:  |
I finally worked out again! Did 30 minutes on the elliptical last night. I have been so crazy at work and haven't been eating really, so have had neither time nor energy to exercise:( I will have to make up for it over this weekend:D

Hello! Well, I'm off work until next Thursday. I sure needed a nice break! It was great sleeping in today. But then, I still have tons of stuff to wrap, but at least I don't have to juggle it around work.
So this morning, knowing I had extra time, I had decided to do The Firm Super Cardio, which is a longer high impact workout. I kind of was dreading it... well, I did it all and really enjoyed it! I paced myself on the higher impact stuff, and I really got the heartrate up and did some good sweating. I really enjoyed it this morning! So that was 63 minutes of good fun for me, and it really flew by. Can't beat those old Firm workouts! If I don't see you, have a Merry Christmas and/or Happy Chanukah! And keep on sweating. :gift2: :stardav: |
Hey, and how was your Christmas? I had a quiet day with the family, and I cooked a full-blown meal, but ate sensibly. I'm concerned about my 18 year old daughter, who recently returned from college. She had a miserable semester and has dropped down to under 100 pounds! I talked to her about it; she doesn't think she is too skinny, but I know she is. Of course, she remembers as a little kid having a "fat mom" that other kids made fun of. She's a little taller than I am, and she doesn't eat much, one or 2 small meals a day and no snacking. Furthermore, I think she MAY have purged after dinner yesterday, though I don't know that for a fact. She was withdrawn and kind of rude to all of us yesterday. She's the light of my life, so I'm praying hard for guidance right now!
I KNOW y'all have not abandoned your exercise, but have been too busy to post. But me, I'm waiting for hubby right now, and then it will be off to the furniture store! So I thought I may as well post while I'm waiting. Saturday I did TamiLee Webb's Defy Gravity; Cardio 1 (20 minutes), Toning (33 minutes) and the 5 minute stretch at the end. Total 58 minutes. Sunday -- Kari Anderson's Push (HiLow segment) -- 35 minutes. Today -- Cathe's Low Max, 5 of 7 segments for 55 minutes. My body wasn't really "with it" today, but I forced myself. That's kind of unusual for me, because my body generally gets into it. I'm sure I'm just a little worn down the the season! (hopefully) I'm looking forward to reading everybody's posts, when they have a chance to do them! Have a great day. |
DancingAngel, I'll say prayers for your daughter. Keep on top of that, hon... I have a friend who lost her 20 year old to anorexia.
I'm still sick, but I'm anxious to get going again on the treadmill... hopefully by the weekend or early next week. :hat: Keep it up exercising gals! :cheer: |
Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good weekend and a happy holiday. I am back at work today. Friday I walked to and from my hair salon (35 minutes total) and then did a yoga dvd when I got home. Saturday and yesterday I did 45 minutes on my elliptical each day. I did not work out Sunday. I said I was going to, but by the time I got home I just laid on the couch.
I know this is the exercise part of chicks in control, but yesterday really hit home to me that I have a huge problem with overeating. On sunday I promised myself I wouldn't snack all day, and I did anyhow.:( Then on Monday I just kept eating. I wasn't really bored, and I was definitely not hungry, but I had all this food in the house and I just kept eating it. I finally laid down in bed around 8:30 p.m. just to stop going into the kitchen and eating something else. I am back on track today, but i am so angry at myself for doing this. I undid months of work over a 2 day period. I yelled at the dogs and at my husband all because I am mad at myself. I know I have to just start over again, but i wish I could control myself to start with all the time. *** 12/01 - 12/07 - 304 minutes 12/08 - 12/14 - 293 minutes 12/15 - 38 minutes total - 17 weights; 21 treadmill (2 miles) 12/16 - 33 minutes - elliptical 12/17 - 35 minutes - yoga 12/18 - 40 minutes - elliptical 12/19 - 40 minutes - elliptical 12/20 - nothin 12/21 - nothing 12/22 - 30 minutes - elliptical 12/23 - 75 minutes total - 35 walking; 40 yoga 12/24 - 45 minutes - elliptical 12/25 - nothing 12/26 - 45 minutes - elliptical 12/27 12/28 12/29 12/30 12/31 October = 1176; November = 1235 |
Hi, y'all! Ellis, thanks for your prayers for my daughter. I'll be watching her closely! She seemed to eat a little better yesterday, and hopefully being away from the stress of school will help her get back to a normal routine. She has decided, with our blessing, to take this next semester off. She was so unhappy there, and obviously neither her physical nor emotional health were getting any benefits. I'm awfully glad now we didn't insist on her returning for the spring.
This morning I pulled out The Firm Complete Aerobics with Weight Training. 58 minutes goes into the books for me. Fishwoman, we've all been there, and I find myself reaching for "just a bite" of something when I'm bored. It's a danger signal for sure! :nono: I try to recognize it and STOMP it out. We've worked too hard to get where we are, right? Y'all have a great day!  |
I did 50 minutes on the elliptical this afternoon.

I did a 40 minute yoga dvd when I got home last night. I am still not very flexible, but I can tell that I am holding the poses better.:D Of course, the dogs don't help. They want to play on my yoga mat while I am on it, and everytime I go into downward facing dog, they feel it is their duty to get under me and lie down.

Okay, I'm back at work. The break was all too short! However, I'd say I'm pretty well up-to-date with my sleeping (though I'd love to have some more), and I nipped my snacking habit I was kind of getting into. And I worked out every day! So the break was successful. :bravo:
I mentioned my concern over my 18 year old daughter, who returned from college skinny and hasn't been eating much. Well, I think she is doing some better... and she seems a bit more relaxed. She's looking for a job to keep her until the local community college starts the spring quarter. A mom always has good reason to pray! Yesterday I didn't post; well, I did Prevention's new dance DVD. I think it's called Dance It Off. Has 4 different segments -- hip-hop, Latin, jazz and ballet. It was fun, and 51 minutes. This morning I did Minna Lessig's Emergency Workout DVD. 30 minutes cardio, 30 minutes strength. Total = 60 minutes. Yay! Saturday the tree can come down and I can reclaim the rest of my exercise space! And forward to the new year. :newyear: Have a wonderful day. |
I just returned from the gym and 45 minutes on the elliptical.

Okay, here we are ending 2005! Congratulations to all who have made a commitment to exercise. I KNOW it is THE magic bullet for getting and keeping weight off. I am, at age 56, way more fit than I have a right to be, considering I spent 45 years abusing my body with food and inactivity. All I have to show for those years is a bit of loose skin and a mildly arthritic knee.
A wise man once said "I am fearfully and wonderfully made." And we all are! No matter our physical condition, we can all start where we are and do what we can. If we will do this faithfully, miracles will follow! Well, I'm preaching to the choir, aren't I? This morning I did Cathe's Low Impact Step (39 minutes) and a QuickFix Stability Ball workout (10) for a total of 49 minutes. My total for December 1 - 30 is 1490 minutes!! So, assuming I work out as planned tomorrow, I will break 1500 for the month. Yay! Have a wonderful day. :newyear: |
