:coffee: Good morning!
I hit the gym early this morning. I got there before they even opened at 5am! I don't know how that happened. I was only a couple minutes early, but usually I'm about 5 minutes late. I did my scheduled 32 minutes of treadmill hills and then got my full upper and lower body weights in. I may bike ride at lunch if it is not too windy. It is going to be a wonderful fall day. |
Okay - my October total was 1176 minutes of exercise!
I am not off to a good start for November - i have been sick the past few days and do not think I will be working out today either. So, look for a surge in exercise later this week when I am feeling better! |
Hi guys!!
This is my first post, just joined today. I would like to join in with November's challenge. I started so far with 35 min walk from 5am to 5:35am then in the evening for 80 min. On Sunday's I will only do the 80 min evening walk. |
Good going, girls, and welcome to Qirra&Djsmom!
|
Geesh! I barely squeaked out 15 minutes on my exercise video. It's only 30 minutes long and I was able to do the whole video 3 months ago. I can't believe how much endurance I've lost in 2 months with no exercise. I'll probably have to go walking later today.
|
Finally! I am posting with actual exercise!
I did 30 minutes on the elliptical at the gym today. I was going to lift weights, but, and this is such a cry-baby excuse, my arm hurts really bad where i got my flu shot yesterday! I did do 9 pushups though :) I have to lift this weekend then. It is so easy for me to put that part of exercising off forever! Hi WazzuGirl and Qirra&DJ's mom! It is good to see some new names! Not that I don't adore Ellis, and Melissa with her 2-hour runs  |
Hi everyone,
Just checking in for today: I didn't make my evening 80 minutes last night so I did 65 minutes instead of the usual 35 minutes this morning. Plan to make up the time I missed last night, tonight. This is a great thread and great site. After I am more familiar with the tools I'll add the weight tracker to my responses, but for now: SW 374 09/27/05 356.5 10/04/05 352 10/11/05 349 10/18/05 347 10/25/05 CW 338.5 11/01/05 |
Good morning! Hello to all the new people. Glad you are feeling better FishWoman.
I ran 40 minutes this morning and did my upper/lower body strength training. Tomorrow I finally get to train with my running group again, we are scheduled for 80 minutes. I can't wait, because I really prefer running outside instead of the treadmill. |
Me again, we ran 80 minutes for training today. It was good to get to go back out with my training group. I had lost my babysitter for a month or so. It did remind me though, that I am s-l-o-w! The "runners" took way off ahead of me and the "walkers" were way behind. I was in the middle by myself the whole time. But it was a nice day and a good run.
|
Good morning all! I was an exercising fiend this weekend.
Friday I did my 45 minute Crunch Pilates dvd. Saturday I ran outside. 4 miles in 55 minutes. I ended up taking a couple of walk breaks, but ran most of the way. Sunday I went mountain hiking with my sister and my niece. We hiked for 3 hours and 20 minutes. Covered about 7 or so miles of terrain. My glutes are quite sore this morning! *** 11/01 - nothing 11/02 - nothing 11/03 - 30 minutes - elliptical 11/04 - 45 minutes - Crunch Pilates dvd 11/05 - 55 minutes - running outside (4 miles) 11/06 - 200 minutes - mountain hiking (about 7 miles) |
That sounds excellent FishWoman! There is really no place to hike here, Illinois is very flat.
I did not want to get up this morning. So I just did my 45 minute run at lunchtime. Unfortunately, I missed my strength training. I will just have to do my best to catch up tomorrow. |
I really didn't want to get up again today. I did the recumbent bike for 40 minutes and my upper/lower body weights. I didn't get to the gym early enough to get into the steam room. That'll teach me.

shame, shame, shame
Hi everyone--I haven't posted for awhile or even logged on to read others' posts. I got super duper busy with various work projects and I thought I only needed a week off but it grew to 2 weeks and now it's almost 3 weeks without a workout and I feel like crap. Honestly I finished most of my extra stuff late last week but it's just taking me awhile to get my motivation back. I made lots of extra money though, which is great right before Holidays.
Anyway, I have been guilt-tripping myself for the last few days to get a workout in. Last night I was supposed to get to the gym and left work too late to do it, so I ended up raking leaves and doing yardwork in the dark. My back is sooo sore today! I was really trying to make a workout of it and apparently it worked. I need to get some cardio in today and I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to cram it in. I'm really trying to get back on schedule though! |
Okay, y'all have me pumped up! You are an energetic bunch, and I love it!
This morning I worked out to 2 videos: Quick Fix Cardio Hip-Hop -- I did a 10 minute dance segment; and Core Secrets Accelerated Core Workout -- 45 minutes on the stability ball. I hope it's okay to join in here! |
Yay Melra!! I missed you! :D Even if you can only get 15 minutes it that will make a difference. Extra money is always good, but you have to take care of yourself too! My goal weight is 138.5 because that makes me officially "normal". I want to make that by my daughter's birthday 3/5. We can do it together!
Hi Dancing Angel! Great job. I wish I could do tapes at home, but that just doesn't happen for me. I would never do it. |
Lifted weights today and ran two miles on the treadmill!
Melra - welcome back!! Raking leaves is totally a workout! That is why we live in a townhouse and have a yard service  Hi there, Dancing Angel - it sounds as if you had a great workout this morning. Those stability balls are rough. I used to have one, but my DH and my dog played with it until they popped it. Melissa - no steamroom this morning? Bummer! I love the steamroom even more than the sauna. *** 11/01 - nothing 11/02 - nothing 11/03 - 30 minutes - elliptical 11/04 - 45 minutes - Crunch Pilates dvd 11/05 - 55 minutes - running outside (4 miles) 11/06 - 200 minutes - mountain hiking (about 7 miles) 11/07 - nothing 11/08 - 41 minutes - 20 of weights; 21 on t'mill (2 miles) |
Hello All! Not sure how this works, but jumping right in! My goal is to exercise 5-6 times a week, 45 minutes to an hour total each day (preferably at one time, but I'll take it in increments). I watched a fitness show this morning (Weighing In), and that's the regimen the trainer put the participants on. I really want to do stairs, so I'm either going to make a million trips up and down my basement or second floor stairs, or else I'm going to try and find a nice, lengthy set of stairs somewhere else. Anywhoo, enough rambling.
Since I started in this thread today, I'll just post what I've done so far today. Tuesday, November 8: 20 minutes of free weights (during commercials, lol). I know that isn't much, but I am planning to go walking this evening. And it felt good to be getting in exercise while watching tv! :D |
Hi DoingIt! Go ahead and jump right in. We just track the minutes we exercise and add them all up at the end of the month. I am trying to top last months total, but really it is just fun to see it all add up.
I did my 35 minute treadmill hill program this morning, then had 15 minutes left for the steam room. Yay! |
Good morning, all!
This morning I did Kathy Smith's workout -- "Fatburning Breakthrough". It is a step workout, with 2 cardio "waves" including light toning and abs. Total is 50 minutes with warm-up and stretch. It's a real good one for making you sweat! Have a wonderful day, and keep moving and shaking it. |
I did 30 minutes on the elliptical today.
I had wanted to run, but TOM started, and the thought of actually running with these cramps did not seem like fun at all. I also spent 5 minutes in the steam room just relaxing. *** 11/01 - nothing 11/02 - nothing 11/03 - 30 minutes - elliptical 11/04 - 45 minutes - Crunch Pilates dvd 11/05 - 55 minutes - running outside (4 miles) 11/06 - 200 minutes - mountain hiking (about 7 miles) 11/07 - nothing 11/08 - 41 minutes - 20 of weights; 21 on t'mill (2 miles) 11/09 - 30 minutes - elliptical |
Hi all,
Yesterday I walked 12 laps around the track which is 3 miles. It took me a good 45 minutes to get it done. Right now my goal is to just work out 3 days per week; Tues, Thurs, and Sunday. Soooo many times I have been gung ho about working out 5-6 days per week. It will last for about 2 months and then I get really burned out and not work out for a month. Blechhh...don't wanna be doin' that! :o |
Hello, sweaty people!
This morning I did a video workout -- The Firm Crosstrainer. It is 56 minutes of mostly strength training, some quite intense. It uses various dumbell pairs; I used 3, 5 and 8 pounds. (I'm thinking I need to step SOME moves up to 10 pounds!) It also uses their "fanny lifter," which is a 2-part step. It uses the 8-inch and 14-inch heights. So, I'm feeling pretty virtuous today after using all those muscles! I hope your day is a sunny one! |
Dancing Angel, you like workout videos too? I have a collection of about 40 right now. I also noticed your weight loss ticker -- you've lost almost 200 pounds -- that is awesome! :carrot: Way to stick to it. :)
Today I did Leslie Sansone's 3 mile walk. So, I'm done with my workouts for the week until Sunday. Feels good to accomplish that. Talk to everyone later. |
Ran on the treadmill at the gym - 5km in 31:42. I am pretty happy about it because I felt really good and strong the entire time. I could have run more but I really had to use the restroom :o
Dancing Angel - I think that is the same Firm workout my sister has - she loves it and does it all the time. Wazzu - congrats on finishing your workouts for the week! Hey Melissa - did you get to run this morning? *** 11/01 - nothing 11/02 - nothing 11/03 - 30 minutes - elliptical 11/04 - 45 minutes - Crunch Pilates dvd 11/05 - 55 minutes - running outside (4 miles) 11/06 - 200 minutes - mountain hiking (about 7 miles) 11/07 - nothing 11/08 - 41 minutes - 20 of weights; 21 on t'mill (2 miles) 11/09 - 30 minutes - elliptical 11/10 - 32 minutes - treadmill (5km) |
How much is 5k in miles FishWoman?
Thursday is my rest/stretch day. I keep meaning to figure out if my gym has a pilates/yoga class on Thursday. I think that would help with the stretching. I ran 7 miles this morning. It should have been 8, but I ran out of time and had to be at work. As it is I came in without makeup and my hair wet. It took me 113:11 which are 16 minute miles. I was running at about 13 minute mile pace, but every 9 minutes I walk for 1 so it messes with my time. I burned 639 calories! That is a 1/2 day of food for me. So cool! I love when this thread gets active. Come on everybody! Get in a great workout before the weekend! :carrot: |
Hello, all!
Wazzoo, I LOVE workout videos! Living in a cold climate, I can't always get out, and I don't have time to drive back and forth to the gym. I get up around 4:30am; the house is quiet and I push back the furniture and go for it! It's my special time. This morning I did a step circuit workout -- Cathe's Body Fusion. It has 3 circuits, the first two being pretty basic but intense enough to get me to sweat. The 3rd circuit is quite intense. There is some toning to break up the cardio portions. It comes up to 50 minutes total. (there are other workouts on the DVD as well) This one is one of my new favorites. Wishing you all a sweaty day!! |
Ran 4 miles on the :tread: this afternoon in 40:25. I think my new sneakers are magic :D Actually, I think it's just that my old sneakers were so old that I was hurting my body by running in them. Whatever it is, this is two runs in a row now where I have felt really great the whole way through.
Melissa - 5k is 3.1 miles. I normally post in miles, but am running a 5k race next weekend, so figured I would give myself a time to beat. And 5 is a nice round number rather than 3.1  Way to go on 7 miles! I am going to try to get my mileage back up and run the Cherry Blossom 10-miler in April. I ran it once before (before I broke my foot) and would like to do so again. Dancing Angel - what is up with you crazy people getting up so early in the morning? That body fusion workout sounds neat! I love doing workout videos also, but my dogs like to *help* too much. Any time I do sit-ups, or pilates/yoga where I am on the floor they take that as a call to lick my armpits, or sit on my head, or just generally be adorable nuisances. Fortunately, if DH is around, he will take them downstairs with him and shut the door. *** 11/01 - nothing 11/02 - nothing 11/03 - 30 minutes - elliptical 11/04 - 45 minutes - Crunch Pilates dvd 11/05 - 55 minutes - running outside (4 miles) 11/06 - 200 minutes - mountain hiking (about 7 miles) 11/07 - nothing 11/08 - 41 minutes - 20 of weights; 21 on t'mill (2 miles) 11/09 - 30 minutes - elliptical 11/10 - 32 minutes - treadmill (5km) 11/11 - 41 minutes - treadmill (4 miles) |
Hello! I hope everybody continued to shake it through the weekend. I think it's great when you reach the point that your body craves exercise! And you actually look forward to it. I never thought that would happen to me, but it truly has, and that's a real blessing.
On Saturday I did one of my long-time favorite DVD's -- Donna Richardson's 3-Day Rotation. I chose the advanced version of all 3 workouts, 20 minutes strength training (I used 8 lb dumbbells), 20 minutes kick/jab and 20 minutes cardio dance (my favorite part) for a total of 60 minutes. Sunday I took a planned 'rest' day. This is a new thing for me as I have not taken days off for the past several years, but my Sundays are so busy now that I thought my body may need the extra hour of sleep even more than the exercise! So we'll see how that works out. This morning I did a 50 minute DVD from the producers of the original The Firm; it's from their "Kick Butt" series, called Steamin Cardio. It's mostly cardio with some core work. It crosstrains with another workout, which I plan to do tomorrow. So what did you do this weekend and so far today? |
Happy Tuesday! We are having our first snow today! The roads are warm, so it's not causing too much trouble. I guess winter will not be skipping us this year!
This morning I did a workout from the Kick Butt series called Push Pull. It crosstrains with Steamin' Cardio, which I did yesterday. It is 50 minutes; mostly weights with some cardio as well as Pilates and even a bit of Yoga. A little sweat is a healthy thing! So keep on shaking it and have a wonderful day! |
Hi! I am a little behind in posting :o
I didn't work out Saturday, but Sunday I did 20 minutes of yoga and an hour of ballet, and yesterday I did 50 minutes on the elliptical. We don't have any snow yet, but the temperature is supposed to drop over night to a high of 50 for tomorrow. Brrr!! |
November Exercise Challenge
I have been in Atlanta for business at my corporate office the last two days. Luckily, they have a fantastic in house gym. I would love to have something like that at my office, but we are much smaller.
On Monday I did 45 minutes on the treadmill and today I did 60 minutes, 30 on the bike and 30 on the eliptical. Back to my boring old gym tomorrow. :carrot: |
Just did an eight minute straight run!! :cheer:
Good going, girls... :hat: |
Last night I went home and did 30 minutes of yoga. Very relaxing, which I really needed!
I went to the gym today and ran on the treadmill. I managed to run 5k (3.1 miles) in 30:52. That is just under a 10 minute mile :carrot: My legs are a little sore now! *** 11/01 - 11/07 - 330 minutes 11/08 - 11/14 - 274 minutes 11/15 - 30 minutes - yoga 11/16 - 31 minutes - 3.1 miles on treadmill 11/17 11/18 11/19 11/20 11/21 |
Hello! Glad to see everybody posting!
This morning I warmed up with a 5-minute "Dance-off" from Dancing off the Inches; then I did Kathy Smith's Latin Rhythms Workout. I finished with a 10 minute core workout from Quick Fix Total Abs. Total 55 minutes. Cardio dance is not always the most intense workout, but it sure is fun! |
i'm new here, and even though it's the middle of the month, i'd like to jump in!
today, i jogged 3 miles. (and listened to rascal flatts the whole way.) |
Greetings! And welcome, Chknlitl! I wish I could do more jogging, but my 56 year old knees don't appreciate it after carrying so much weight for so long! Good job today.
This morning I did a new DVD I just got -- Fat to Firm Stability Ball Workout for Dummies. It's a great workout and I learned some moves I haven't done before. I really enjoy the ball; I wasn't thrilled with the format of this workout, but I know it's a good one, and easy to follow. Tomorrow I'll do something fun and cardio! It's acting like winter around here! Everybody stay snug and warm today! :flame: |
