hey - i was wondering if anyone knew when and what its appropriate to eat after a workout - lets say a run/walk?

I talk to guys who train and some say i should just have a banana - others say i should eat like whole wheat toast with PB a glass of milk and an apple...
i'm not looking to "train" persay and build mass - just lose weight...

This morning I woke up late, (cuz i'm off from work), went to the park around 10:30 and stayed an hour..then waited like 1/2 hour and ate a light whole wheat english muffin with an egg (cooked in Pam non-fat cooking spray) and a slice of fat-free kraft single...
On WW that is only 4 points! and it is soo good...but is that good for after a workout?

I would ask the ladies on the Exercise board, I just know they will know this one.

When I used to power walk (5 miles in 1 hr) I would go home and eat my regular dinner which included a bucket load of veggies, no bread though. I think if your lifting weights its different than a run/walk.

Just wait until Saturday ladies. Dinner and ballgame with the hubby. I keep looking at their menu and trying to plan something that will be worthy of a splurge :hun: but still leave room for the beer sampler! Plus, there will probably be dessert at the ball park.

I'll have the Brown Ale Chicken, the Asiago Cheese Dip, the Brewery Beer & Cheese Taster, the Grilled Portobello and Fontina Melt, and the Triple Chocolate Stout Cheesecake, please. Save me a place at table, please, Melissa. :D

Ellis, it would be awesome if you could join us!

I am thinking Ball Park Pretzels for starters and the Herb Lemon Chicken with Asparagus for dinner. (And beer, lots of beer!) I think we will have dessert at the ballpark. But the Asiago Cheese Dip looks yummy too!

Hubby took our daughter to the zoo yesterday and they weren't home when I got there. I had the brand new Harry Potter and an empty house. I couldn't figure out what to eat first! :(

I actually stood in front of the pantry trying to figure out what would be the best "binge" food that wouldn't cause much damage. I couldn't find anything, so I went to the fridge. I had 1/3 of a leftover sandwich from California Pizza Kitchen which I ate. Then I saw the donut holes on the counter I had bought, I ate 6. Then I came to my senses and got out a big bag of baby carrots and ate those while I read.

I only ate 1/2 of my incredible lasagna for dinner because I ate half the loaf of bread before I started. I should have skipped all the crap and enjoyed my lasagna more. :o

I only came out around 1600 calories for the day, but it was painful entering them into Fitday. I need to figure out how to be home alone. I thought I had conquered a lot of these binging problems, but I guess I only conquered some of them. ;)

Melissa, this is so PI, but I just ROARED when I read that. :lol3: I'm sorry, sweetie... I can so relate.
Good for you for (eventually) moving on to the carrots! :hat:
Don't stress over it, hon. Put it behind you, and yes, let's figure out some ways be alone without binging. :grouphug:

Hey Girls,

Melissa, the only safe thing I noticed on that menu was the Grilled Chicken
Fresh tomato, red onions and crisp lettuce atop a perfectly grilled chicken breast. Served on a toasted multi-grain bun - of course you have to say NO FRIES. Some of the other things looked okay but they serve CHEDDAR POTATOES with it... LORDY !!!
GOOD LUCK !!! and mostly have fun ;) For some one who binged and only came out with 1600 for the day......... YOU ROCK !!!!!!! Bravo, great job !!!!!

Ellis, how are you feeling? I think this chick Melissa is keeping us on our toes, wouldn't you say?

Oh well back to work... TTYL

HUGS !!!

Leenie, I think that if you and I ate 1600 calories a day, we might turn into slender babes really quickly.
Melissa, we are SO happy for your success, and SO jealous!

Leenie 07-22-2005 03:52 PM

Very happy for her success. Its people like her that really give me hope :D

(Ellis the girl bikes 20,000 miles a day, she deserves cheddar potatoes ;) )
