Default 4pm dip

Hi

Can anyone help with this, I know that the 4 pm sugar low is very common, but at the moment I seem to be getting extra tired around that time , the need for a boost is sending me into some pretty awful binges - anybody got any suggestions about how I can avert these?

i feel the slump often at that time too. I find that avoiding sitting seems to help. sometimes that's not possible when at work and you are stuck in front of the computer. If that's the case maybe you could just do a quick walk around every now and again. If you are at home, you could go with it and have a nap or something. When this happens while i'm at home I often take my dog for a walk. it can be hard to get out the door but I always find it really enjoyable and refreshing. What I wouldn't suggest is doing anything you don't enjoy.

that's great jalsa. I've heard protein is helpful with alertness. In my current situation I can't think in terms of protein, carbs though becuase I tend to get obsessive with these things. Exercise helps me alot too with everything. good luck!

I always pack an afternoon snack of baby carrots and/or grape tomatoes with hummus, or nuts with dried fruit, or jerky, or a low cal cracker with cheese.

I eat my afternoon snack right around 4 at work. I usually head to the gym around 5, so I get that little boost from the food, plus exercise helps to get an extra boost for the evening.
