Default Alternative to keep acne and facial hair at bay?

In an effort to let my period run its course naturally, I recently didn't jump back on the pill right away after the placebo week. Then I waited a little longer to see what might happen -- will I get acne and those pesky little chin hairs that PCOS so graciously has bestowed upon many of us? Unfortunately, I did, so I started taking the pill again.

But in the few weeks I wasn't on it I felt completely alive. My obsessive thoughts about food? Gone. Was I able to talk myself out of a workout? No. In fact, I couldn't get out of the door fast enough. It was heaven.

Now that I'm back on the pill, it's the exact opposite. I have slowly gone from energized to sluggish and, now, I can barely keep my eyes open. I used to think fatigue like this (well, it's never been this bad before) was work stress related, but I'm in between jobs with nothing but ample time and here it is again.

As you can imagine, I can't help but think my birth control is the culprit. Have any of you experienced this and, if so, have you tried alternative methods to curb acne and facial hair? My OB/Gyn has mentioned I'll probably have to be on it for life to keep those symptoms at bay.

Thank you, thank you for any advice or personal experience you can provide. Much love!

I don't know if it would work for you but I'm on Spironolactone for acne which has a bonus of inhibiting hair growth. I'm probably older than you at 49 but it works for me. I also have a history of roseacea and I most likely suffered from PCOS before the medical community was willing to discuss it. I have found that I still do have those pesky chin hairs but the tweezer and the mirror by the window is my friend. From what I understand, Spironolactone lowers your testosterone levels. It also makes my skin and hair dry--I usually only wash my hair about once a week now.

God, I hate those chin hairs. They started at age 35 for me, which I understand is par for the course. I've become an expert at tweezing them when they reach a nanometer's length.
