Default Alcohol and binging

So here I am, feeling guilty and stuffed. I just lose control with drinking, I've been surprisingly in control with my binging since I started this health kick but here I am.. this is my weakness. My mind and body were totally disconnected. My brain said no, you'll regret it, you're not hungry, you don't need this while my hands were buttering bread. I don't keep junk food in the house so I seriously over ate gherkins (LOL), cheese, pitta bread with butter and jam. I felt like I had no control over my body. Last week I drank a bit one night and it ended with ordering a Dominoes pizza at night which I had to eat all of because I couldn't relax until it was finished. The night after that however I completely controlled myself.. so I thought I was ok.

Seriously though..

Gherkins...

Ugh..

its okay. this is a small set back - you just can't let a couple bad days derail you. look at your ticker! you have come so far! you owe it to yourself to reach your goal weight!! just work out a little harder tomorrow and move past this. but whatever you do, don't beat yourself up over it!

oh, and also, i've started showering whenever i see myself start to lose control. you can't eat in the shower, plus its super relaxing and distracting! but, not such a good tactic if you are with people!

Thanks magsabags! I know, I just feel so crappy about it today.. but it's a new today and I'm making good choices.

Haha, that's a good point.. although I'm pretty sure I could eat in there, I used to smoke in the shower sometimes it didn't work very well! I quit smoking too.

I need to be very aware of what's going on in my head on a day that I drink, I rarely drink anyway but I need to figure this out.. it's so frustrating. I felt like I had no control over my body at all.

Yep alcohol will do it to ya! I've been in the same situation, no gherkins, but yeah LOL

Bottom line is, alcohol lowers our inhibitions.....everything is more tempting and its easier to say screw it when he have some drinks.

O.M.Gooosh!!! Me too! Whenever I go for a night out, I always come home with a pizza/kebab and chips/large fried chicken meal. I just see the late night takeaways and after a few drinks I cannot resist!! I tend not to keep too much food in the house, to try and control my bingeing, and especially before i leave to go out I try to make sure there is little I can binge on when I get home. BUT... knowing there is nothing in the house makes me more keen to get takeway in. Hmmmm....

I don't necessarily binge when I drink (though I have in the past) but I definitely do not give a crap about what I eat!

Usually it's a planned thing for me, because if I didn't plan for it I know it would happen anyway. I only drink on special occasions where I know I'll be going out for dinner or it's a holiday/celebration.

The day AFTER drinking is usually pretty bad for me though. I'm hungover, my body is all out of whack, and I'm craving awful foods. In addition to all that I'm SOBER enough to order food or drive out and get some. Bad combo!

I didn't binge last night, but I didn't think twice about eating my friends' crusts at the fancy pizza place once my plate was empty...or about helping myself to ice cream before bed (to my credit, I had probably one serving, and didn't refill my bowl). I justify this all with "at least I was dancing a lot" but you know.

Chin up LeilaJay (and everyone else). You're not alone and drunk eating won't totally ruin your efforts!

Yep, alcohol does me in every time. Last night I went to my brother's place for a dinner party. My sister-in-law always serves very good food. I had planned to have just a small portion of meat or fish and a huge salad. She started by serving us all lychee margaritas. Then I decided I deserved some wine because of my stressful week. I had two glasses. As a result, I ended up eating a beef skewer, salmon, salad, four pieces of bread, mixed berries, and gelato.

If I can limit myself to just ONE drink I'm generally able to maintain control over my eating. Anything beyond that, however, and all bets are off.

Back on the wagon today...

F.

Thanks everyone!

It's funny because I wouldn't mind over eating if I was with friends and it was a special occasion or something like that. I think I'm just afraid of just how powerless I felt. Still, eating lots of gherkins wasn't too bad as funny as it was

Hey JoseLo as krampus said: chin up!

Don't be too hard on yourself.. maybe have a plan in place for when you're drinking. So if you really need to order some fast food choose 1 meal that you can eat. Like maybe just 3 pieces of chicken and a smaller portion of chips and have a diet drink instead. I find that when I know I can have something if I want it I have it less. If I'm too restrictive then I can't stop myself.

Baby steps, it's not a race.

Gherkins are smaller vegetables in the cucumber family. Usually you see them in reference to pickles. (I've only seen sweet pickles referred to as gherkins, but I think they may make dill pickle gherkins too) Trust the freakishly-addicted Pickle chick to answer.

I've found that drinking ends in reactions that are polar opposites. I either end up drinking to the point I'm not hungry/I'm afraid to eat (because I don't want to be sick), or on the opposite end, I throw common sense out the window and eat what I crave.

Last night I had Taco Bell for the first time in 6 months, what kind of night do you think it was?

The harder part for me is that since I started losing weight, I've lost my sense of "okay I can have x number of drinks in x timeframe before it becomes too much and I become THAT GIRL".

Twice now I've drank too much and ended up sick. Recently I've taken to lowering the count by 2 drinks less than what I could drink before, and I think I've found a happy medium.

I recently had the same issue (friday night). I was actually fine friday night, but like joss said, it was yesterday that hit me. I went to cracker barrell with my bf's parents and ate biscuits and hash browns and grits.
Then the day turned into a bad carb fest. I don't even know what all I ate but it ended with for large dinner rolls. Today was not much better.
I'm trying to not eat refined sugar/starch but I fell off after only four
days. I want to be able to have a drink or two some weekends but I wonder if I should give that up completely.
