Default All the way in May!

I'm surprised nobody has made a May goals thread yet, so I'll get one started!

April was a hard month for me, and for the first time in as long as I can remember, I gained weight this month. I am out of town for work and my fiance came to visit me at the beginning of April. During the time he was here I definitely overate, and then binged the day he left to go home. I was back on track for a few weeks and then had a death in the family last week. I didn't immediately lose it, but suddenly all the stress of work, my upcoming wedding, and then the sudden death of a family member was a bit much for me, and I turned to food for comfort. After 2 days of eating I got back on track and have been for the last 5 days.

Normally I don't have those issues, but for all of those reasons April was difficult for me. My goals for this month are to stick to my workout plan, stick to my clean meal plan, and finish out this last month of work on a high note.

I have been having issues justifying my out of control eating because I was at such a low weight I felt I "deserved it". For this month I am breaking that habit by NOT weighing myself until 1 June. If I don't know what my scale weight is, I can focus on the mirror and how I feel, and will likely stay on track a lot easier.

I know the goal is usually 10 pounds, but I just want to lose 5 and get off what I gained in April.

So, who's with me?!

My goals for May are:

* No binges aside from allowing myself treats on my birthday (May 14) but that will be a planned day of treats, not an out of control binge

* Weight lifting 3 times per week

* Keeping hydrated throughout the day. It's becoming more difficult with my new job but I have to be mindful of it! I keep feeling "hungry" and binging when I'm really just thirsty (or tired)

* Keeping added sweeteners to a minimum since they seem to trigger binges

* No eating past 8 PM!! EVER! Nighttime snacking triggers binges!

Thanks for starting up the May thread JossFit!!
I can COMPLETELY relate to the notion of 'deserving' to have food that i would not normally allow myself, if i weigh in and have lost weight! It is like the sweet reward for working so hard, but yet completely negates all the hard work you put in in the first place!! It is so blindingly obvious, but yet i still do it. I am in total agreeance with you re not weighing in for a while.

So my goals for May are as follows:
***NO BINGES!!!****
1) No sugar (breaking the ban - haven't had any for 4 days not, only sweeteners)
2) Minimal carbs
3) No weighing in until the 1st of June
4) No stress eating when things get rough at uni

I dont have a problem with exercise as i really do love it (and have been out for almost 2 weeks with injury, so cant wait to get back into it starting tomorrow!). But it is the food that is getting the better of me.

Well, that will be enough to keep me busy. Good luck to everyone!!

I'm soo sorry to hear about your month JossFit! You're starting off the month right and I'm sure you'll do great!

My goals for May:
1. I'm on Weight Watchers and always do very well when I stick to my alloted points so I will only allow myself consume 15 weekly points as needed! (This will be huge for me as I've been spending nearly all of them every week!)

2. I have become a gym rat over the last few weeks and I'm feeling better than I have in a long time.

With that being said goal two is to make it to the gym at least 22 times in May.

3. I have a Wii fit and I really enjoy doing the walking with the step however with how much time I've been spending at the gym lately, I really have been lacking on spending time with the Wii.

Goal three is to use the Wii at least 15 times in May.

This will be quite a bit for me to stick with so I think I should end it there and save a few other items for June!

Best of luck everyone! It will be a great month!

I NEED to board this train!!
May:
***NO BINGING!!*** These last 2 days have been my worst binge ever, and I feel like several loads of cr@p. I don't ever want to feel like this again. Ever.
No skipping cardio days. Even if it's not a full hour, it keeps my hands (and mouth) occupied and out of the kitchen!
Up the weight training from 3 to 4 days/week, and start including more lower-body training.

I have been doing well with not binging and keeping my eating under control. If I keep this up I will break below 130, which serves as a big mental block. I have NEVER successfully stayed under 130 for more than a month at a time (I don't count getting down to 126 on Friday and then eating my way back up to 132-133 over the weekend and spending the next week shedding bloat).

My May goal is to keep my sanity and not let my scale dictate my behavior!

@ Clownfish - Glad you're here... it's going to be a good month!

@ Riesz - Those sound like good goals, and are very specific! I think that will help.

@ Cconn - You're welcome, and thanks for joining it with me! I think having you and the other ladies (and fellas if we get any joiners) will really help me to stay on track.

@ bt2155 - Glad to have you! It sounds like you already have a great support system with your diet through WW, but kicking things up in the gym always helps.

@ Luceia - Don't beat yourself up over it too much... just pick yourself up RIGHT NOW and move on from it! What was it that caused you to have your worst binge ever? What did you learn from it? How can we help?

@ Krampus - I'm with ya girl; no letting the scale dictate my behavior! Thats why I'm hiding the scale for the month and not giving myself the chance to make excuses or justify why I "need" or "deserve" to eat way too much.

Jossfit- I'm so sorry to hear about your bad month I hope this month gets better for you and wish you the best of luck for getting back on track.

Clownfish- good luck with those 5 lbs and not overeating!

Reisz- staying hydrated help me a lot too! Let us know how your goals are coming!

Cconn- we sound similar in loving exercise and doing too much stress eating! I'm glad your injury is healing up!

bt2155- I'm glad ww is working so well for you! And isn't the gym fun?? I'm a totally gym rat too!

Luceia- no binges for me either! Let's do it together!! I love all of your smiley faces ;-)

Krampus- I hear you on the scale! It's such a love/hate... Depending on the day. I hope you can reach your goal!

My goal is to get through the month with only one binge. Im "allowing" myself one... That way if I do slip, my "all-or-nothing" won't kick in. But it would be even better to be totally binge free. My record is two in a month, so I'm just looking to improve

I'm also hoping to allow myself one treat each week. I'm SO strict normally and it leads to binges, if I had 1 M&M I might as well have 5,000,000 (right? :P ) So if I'm "allowed" to have 1 cookie or whatever each week- hopefully that all or nothing mentality will be kept at bay! We'll see though.

Good luck in May everyone!!

Thanks for this reminder - I tend to go grazing when really I need water - the tiredness is something I have to get to grips with !

Day 2 for me, I did pretty good yesterday - wishing everyone a good day

Well, so far so good. My motivation is definitely high, but it's because I feel so frumpy! I know it might be easy to judge based on my height and weight, but regardless of our sizes I think we've all had our frumpy times where seeing a gain is all you can focus on. It doesn't matter that for all intents and purposes I'm still in good shape, the fact is that I've been in BETTER shape until just this past month, and now I'm disgusted with what I did to myself. I just want to cry today!

My clothes fit too tightly and I just feel squishy all over. All I can do is keep putting one foot in front of the other and power through, but I am a little scared I won't lose those few pounds of fat this month. I fractured my foot, so while I can still lift weights and do some cardio, my 2 weekly HIIT runs are definitely not happening.

*sigh* I hate feeling like this, but at least it will keep me on track. My problem has definitely been that I was getting too comfortable and over confident in my progress.

I weighed in at 128.5 - haven't been this light since 2011!

Today is a "red alert" day as far as controlling myself goes. New lows always psych me out.

Yesterday I ate ice cream straight out of the pint and stopped at less than a serving. I think it really helps that my boyfriend is working on healthy habits and getting in shape.

I can totally relate girl! Each time I hit a new low weight, that day or the following day usually end up being a night I go out and eat/drink a lot. Usually that's okay for me, but if eating a lot and staying on plan is your goal it can be hard to do!

Congratulations, and good luck!
