Default Eating too fast

I'm doing well on my own workout and eating plans. The thing I can't seem to get under control is eating too quickly. I honestly feel bad for the people I share office space with. It may be my perception, but I feel like they can hear me scarfing down my lunch from my office.
The only time I can mildly control it is when I'm out to dinner, which rarely happens these days.

Any tips, advice, or similar feelings?

Same here. Some days are better, some days are bad.
I do try to slow down but if I can't I can't. I still lose weight and I think it isn't healthy to worry while I eat. I rather relax and enjoy the food even if I am faster than others.
How slow is slow anyways?? Some people are so slow I fall asleep watching them eat.
I walk fast, I talk fast and I eat fast.

Try eating with your opposite hand. That slows me down, a lot!

I only eat too fast when I am extremely hungry but that is a result of my poor planning. I love the idea of eating with the opposite hand. What a great idea. As for restaurants, I immediately ask for a to-go box when I order so when the food comes, I put half of it in it and set it aside. Now the rest of the food has to be eaten more slowly to keep up the timing with your dinner guest. You don't want to be sitting there and staring at them while they finish their meal, so you eat slower. Restaurant food is notoriously over proportioned so I take the other half home for later or the next day. Good luck.

I am on Josey's side; eating with my opposite hand would drive me crazy; I need to control what i eat, when i eat, the quantity i eat... controlling how fast i eat would be too much!

Hahah, I think it's fun to try and eat with my other hand. I always feel like a caveman how I have to hold the fork/spoon/spork. hahaha It is just another form of entertainment for me

Hi I'm new tonight. I eat so fast...I was thinking of buying chop sticks. That would slow me down for sure.

I like the other hand idea. I never thought of that! When I am home or eating where I can't be seen I use children utencils. I carry a set around with me and have a stock at home. I also cut my meat/chicken up in teeny tiny pieces.

I also eat while I'm on the internet doing something. I'll take a bite, respond to a post on 3FC and then take another bite.

OK, yes, the food eventually gets cold but I feel so much better consuming it slower than I do when I eat fast. And I find eating slower gets me fuller faster -- and keeps me fuller longer.
