Default not a binge right?

I was trying to make a good choice. I wanted something sweet. So I chose yogurt with splenda added. I eat dannon plain fat free yogurt. It was either than or I was going to make some sugar free pudding. So I chose the yogurt.

It did get my calories where it needed to for the rest of the day so it wasn't overeating in a true sense..just a lot of yogurt. One serving is 1 cup and I ate 3.5 cups. My cals for the day were: 1423

Not a binge..right? It wasn't good. If that had been ice cream I would have been fighting mad at myself for eating nearly the entire container. So Im confused. Does what I chose to eat matter? Quantity? What we do want to count here.

Maybe I was just hungry...but then after that I was popping full. So that wasn't that good. I should have stopped and had a snack later instead of getting to the popping point. moderation and regulation. I can't understand the feeling of Im full that's enought let's put the plate away. I am either hungry or Im popping full...or constantly desiring.

Definitely not a binge. We all go a little off-plan or eat in a way we shouldn't some time, but those times dont' qualify as binges.

Way to stick to your calorie plan! Keep up the good work!

Isn't it funny how we worry now? Before I used to go to 7/11 and buy chips and brownies and a sandwich and eat it ALL (after dinner I might add) and NOW if I do something like eat an extra banana I feel like I over-ate. Like my husband said the other day when I ate some watermelon "babe people don't get fat eating fruit- CHILL OUT."

At 190 lbs eating 1423 calories is NOT a binge.

Thank you both!

I was having a hard day yesterday a couple of times and cut it off somehow. I was here a lot and posting to others' trying to keep myself up as well. I wanted to eat everything. I scanned the cabinets. I fought through it twice. So the second time I drank a lot of fluids and ate the extra yogurt. I decided to eat dinner early...I was doing all sorts of things. Then I made my husband get me out of the house. We took the kids to the mall. The mall people are going to think I live there. I bought some winter shoes so my toes dont freeze in the snow. Next time I'll probably save money by going to a friend's house.

It's not a binge. I think however it is a good thing to be aware of the behavior that went along with the episode. You're right, had it been ice cream you would have been overeating it and the calories would have soared.

I do limit serving portions of the different foods that I eat. For me, a better solution is not to eat more of the same food, but to eat something else if I am still hungry. It's a mindset, a way I keep aware that variety is always healthier than more of the same food and helps me practice never eating more than a serving of anything at any given time. I know it sounds arbitrary, but I would rather have higher calories by choosing yogurt and then nuts if still hungry.

Have you considered too that since the yogurt was sweet tasting it might have encouraged you to have more? I prefer plain full fat yogurt and always feel satisfied when I am done with one serving.

Consider this also- you were hungry- genuinely hungry- your body might be telling you that the current calorie count you have is too low.

Looking at your current weight 1425 calories is a perfect amount for you to eat. What are you shooting for now? Do you workout?

elisaannh - I started with non sweet yogurt and when I finished my dinner my sweet tooth ... erupted unfortunately. I guess I got off on the wrong foot yesterday morning.

beerab - I'm shooting for 1500 calories per day and yes I am exercising. Maybe I burn about 200 calories per workout and I am going to push for more this week with the videos I got, 30 day shred and a dancing one. I tried to do a few push ups today and well I did 3 in the assisted posture. Those videos will be more than a challenge so I doubt I'll burn too many cals in them for a while.

It's been a very very long time since I've done any kind of physical anything due to pregnancy related issues and recovery. It's been 11 months since my youngest one was born so Im now trying to start, but it'll take a while I think to burn anything signficant. I had a cracked tailbone and uterine/pelvic prolapse.
