I think one of the good suggestions here -- if you can't afford therapy, like I can't! -- is to find that low-calorie alternative that just seems like a good substitute. I really like the flavored zero-calorie carbonated waters. My trainer hates them, yes, but they seem like a good reward ... Okay, it's not as good as a big slice of carrot cake, but it's a good reward.
Seriously recommend checking out the book Neris & India's Idiot-proof Diet (see if it is in your library) and reading the first few chapters. The entire beginning of their book talks about stuff like this and helped me see exactly why I got fat, why I stayed fat, why I binged, etc...and to get over it.
I use their diet plan myself but the diet plan is NOT why I'm recommending this. Low carb is a personal preference. I'm recommending the book specifically to you because of the first few chapters. It really helped me see myself and get over those nasty long-term habits.
