Spirit, good for you!!! I was in a similar boat until a few weeks ago. I was having a lot of stress over some major life changes so I got back into frequent binges. I also started reading Beck but stopped, mainly because I knew I wanted to concentrate on eating healthy and getting away from binging rather than losing weight (which seems to be her emphasis). Also, I got a bit annoyed at her tone sometimes which seems to be that people who are thin are the norm and people who tend to gain weight have some kind of defect. That said, I do incorporate some of her suggestions (such as writing down what I eat and checking it off or crossing off what I don't eat).
I've been doing well on my own, though, almost 2 weeks binge free, which is more than I've had in the past year and a half.
Ray: The Beck Diet Solution isn't a diet in the sense that you don't get an eating plan. It works more on the psychological issues of dieting, using cognitive behavioral techniques to help you succeed with dieting.
