Default Weekly Chat......March 20-26

Well, I've gained back 1 of the 3 pounds I've lost. That's ok. It was an overnight thing and I didn't think it'd stay off to begin with. Going to wait until the next WI to see if I truly have to adjust the ticker or if I can actually claim it as gone Otherwise, I did good---if you don't count the cookie bar I ate yesterday. Ugh. I was SOO hungry and hadn't planned on being gone from home so long. Went to a benefit dance and they had NOTHING but junk (of course, you had to buy the stuff to raise more money.). Well, it went for a good cause and I was proud that of the stuff I bought for the girls (pecan/cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip cookie bars & a brownie) that I only ate the ONE CC cookie bar!! So I call it a success Didn't get my water in yesterday so my lips are all dry and icky feeling. Gotta do better today

Good Morning

Good going Brenda on just the one cookie bar.......Ive been dodging the girl guide cookie tables that are set up all over the place.

Falon~ if you have a little bit bigger wine glass, a bottle is only about 2 glasses of wine!! I have nice big wine glasses

Im ready for 100% induction! I did some cooking yesterday, and I'll do a bit more today. I hate starting this and not having what I need at my fingertips. So Im good to go

Exercise is planned for this afternoon......I was going to go this morning, but I wasnt quite awake yet

Have a great day ladies.

Brenda - at least it was just one cookie bar. Better than 3 or 4.

Robin - I hate not being prepared too. Yesterday I cooked up a bunch of stuff so I can stay on plan and avoid temptation. Its the only that works for me. with your strict induction.

Not much new here. Worked last night and am heading to bed. They are predicting snow for us tonight. YUK...I'm ready for Spring!!!!!!!!!

to you all!

Good morning ladies - I'm having a depressing day. I've stayed on plan, but today is TOM and I'm up three pounds. I know it's temporary, but Monday is my official weigh-in day at the Y and I hate gaining on a Monday. I'm so tempted to just go buy poptarts and ho-ho's and all the things I've denied myself for so long. I'm definitely in comfort food mode.

Don't do it Morgaine...then your gain might not be temporary!!!!! Drink water or eat some protein or both!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Jackie - had an Atkins shake for breakfast and I'm drinking a bottle of water right now. Trying to stay strong. Good point - it won't be a temporary gain if I give in.....

Hello - Hope you don't mind my joining you here. I lost about 30 lbs on atkins a few years ago. I went back to some carbs and gained about 10 back. I just went to Florida and realized I want to be able to wear my CUTE summer clothes when the weather gets warm. So, as of yesterday I am on induction. I did not do so hot yesterday, I had 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 string cheese, some steak and about 30 ounces of diet soda. I had NO VEGGIES and only ONE GLASS OF WATER.

So, the plan for today - get in all veggies and water. only 10 oz of diet soda. Ample protein.

Two questions if anyone knows:

1. Ketostix - It has been at least a year since I opened mine. I know you should toss them after 6 months, but I thought if they were old they wouldn't change colors. Yesterday morning, I used one and it stayed tan. From the afternoon on, however, they were purple all the way. Think this is a misfunction, or do you think I am already there?

2. Diet Soda - anyone have success without giving it up?

Thanks for being such an inspriration - it really helps.

Morgaine - Jackie is right! You can do it. Don't give in to that temptation. It is so hard, but it will be so worth it in the long run.

Robin: did you get to the gym?

Jackie: I'm ready for Spring as well. It's 34 degrees here but the sun is shining to so I'll take it. Next weeks forecast here is in the 40's and 50's. HEAT WAVE

Morgraine: Ok. Tempted to eat ho-ho's and poptarts. Time to make up some SF jello and top it with whipped cream. Or make some heavy cream, whip it and add a pinch of SF chocolate pudding (flavor). Get some LC crunchy/munchy stuff. STAY AWAY FROM THE HO-HO's!! Yup. Only a temporary thing and if you eat it you'll kick yourself! You can do this!!

Bailey: I've never used the ketostix so I can't answer that question. As for the soda. My mom drinks it and loses weight. Whereas I find if I drink soda I don't drink my quantity of water I should. Definitely get those veggies and water in But otherwise sounds like you've got things handled.

Doing ok so far. I've got to chugged the water down. Lips aren't as icky feeling as they were this morning, but a long way from feeling healthy. Some turmoil going on (again) around here. Giving it a few days and the "problem" with this person should be calmed down (as in...I won't speak with her and things should be ok). Well, off to get more of the LR cleaned. got a small start and then had to run errands. Dang, wish I could get exercise "points" for that seeing how I always seem to be doing those

Afternoon ladies:

Welcome Bailey - good to have ya.

Morgaine: I so identify, but after TOM starts, and the first 2 days pass (for me at least) those major craving subside. My favorite sweet treat that I developed is (for one serving) 1/2 C of heavy cream; 1 T cocoa powder (or less depending on how chocolatey you want it), 1 packet of splenda, and beat together until real thick. If you let it sit for a few hours to fully develope flavors, I swear it's just almost like pudding!

I am fully out of ketosis now, so I figure after tomorrow I am back on full induction. I have not had any baked good or deserts. The only baked is a few sliced of sandwich bread. The only other is rice, and this morning I had some fresh honeydew. I know this may not sound like the right thing to do, to get out of this stall, but I really think it's worth a shot. For me at least. So Wednesday, i'll begin again.. and try like Sherry was saying - do it as it is layed out.

We didn't get the Blizzard of 2006 like they predicted. I swear they even looked embarrassed on the news this morning. As they should! I cancelled going to a celebration because of it. *sigh* I only got 3 inches out at my place. A friend of mine said that weather people are the highest paid fortune tellers in the world. I am beginning to agree..

Hope everyone else has a great day.

Afternoon Everyone!

Bailey, I didn't give up diet soda, but I went from drinking 8-10 a day to drinking one and sometimes two. I won't give it up completely. I like it and sometimes it keeps me from having something else I shouldn't. Also, I have to confess that when I lost my first 100 lbs, there were MANY days where I only ate protein and fat and no veggies -- not good, but I did it too.

Falon, the only right weatherpersons are the ones in Phoenix, AZ. They can be guaranteed to be right at least 98% of the time -- they just predict hot and sunny. We didn't get much on the ground down here, but I-25 was not clear this morning and the stuff is blowing around.

Morgaine, one thing that I found that helped me was buying filet mignon instead of carbs. It was a very expensive steak and I grilled it and had garlic butter on it and made it yummy.

DH is having hernia surgery on Thursday. I'm thinking I may have to duct tape him to the sofa to keep him from ignoring doctors orders. I did tell him that the Oreck sweeper and the broom would be light enough for him to lift while he's on his two week restriction

Hi guys. I'm feeling frustrated with myself. I can't seem to recommit and get back on plan in a lasting perfectionist type way. I'm like half way there. Eating "mostly low carb". Deviations don't work with this kind of diet and I'm having trouble bringing my mind back where it needs to be for this diet to work for me.

I'm starting to wonder if I should pick a different plan for awhile. Maybe the Sonoma diet for awhile? Problem with that is that I think the foods I really want aren't allowed on that plan either.

I'm wondering what it would be like if I did low carb AND low cal? That way maybe any day that I wasn't strictly low carb, I could still count on being low calorie for the day? What do you think?

I guess the problem with that is that I've never really intentionally done low calorie and I'm not sure what would be considered low calorie for me. I'm thinking maybe 1700 calories a day might be low cal, but I'm not sure. And I'm not sure I normally go that high on a regular day anyway. I guess I need to start crunching some numbers and find out.

Hi all

I am fighting to not cheat. I think I am doing good. staying OP and holding those carb monsters at bay. But it sure is a struggle. I wonder what I am eating that should trigger that?? It may be those shakes I drink every morning for breakfast, but I am starving in the evening (even after eationg good for lunch.)

Bailey i have done one diet soda daily with no problem but the key is to drink drink drink and that is water!! welcome aboard!!! Listen to your body with the ketosticks i never used them so I do not know.

Falon ... Garlic butter MMMMMMM sounds just yummy!!!

Ok so I am still doing good and I made it to the gym today after work. I think I drank too much water today, cause I have such a headache. Ever happen to anyone else? I am so sleepy too. I am probably going to crash out early, but not before I have me some J-E-L-L-O. Oh yeah and I made my own whipped cream and it is oh so yummy and oh so carb freeeeeee. I am loving it. Nothing really new around here to report. Good night ladies. Talk to you in the morning. -Sandra

Sherry, lowcarb and low calorie works. For example when I did ww, I made low carb choices, and I was successful with it. For me tho, eating some of the "legal" choices trigged my sugar cravings, and sent me out of control.

What are the things you are wanting that you cant have?

I don't know. I just keep "tasting" things. Not a lot of anything, but little deviations. Like a few segments of orange today. Or a spoonful of normal ice cream. Or a glass of wine, or a Black Russian, or a bit of chocolate. Just little nibbles here and there, nothing major. But enough to ruin ketosis, or prevent it from coming.
