Default What do you do for your Excersize?

I am curious what you all do for your exercize?? Do you switch it up all the time?? I just started exercizing back on the 2nd of Jan.. literally before that I wasn't doing anything but normal everyday things and sitting my butt in front of the computer.. bad bad girl.. so anyway I started out walking on my treadmill and now I do that everyday.. I started out just walking.. and then I incooperated jogging the first week I would do 4mins at 3.2mph(walking) and then 30secs at 5mph (jogging) -- then last week I did 2 1/2 mins at 3.2mph and 45secs at 5mph and this week I am doing 3 mins at 3.2 and 1min at 5mph.. I am just wondering is there anyone else that just does walking/jogging.. or should I be doing more?? I have been thinking of doing TaeBo does anyone do that?? I also have a great tape I did last time I lost weight (which was before I got pregnant with my last baby) and it was a Susan Powder workout tape.. anyone else ever do hers?? Okay just trying to see what you all do for exercise. Thanks for your input

Christine Work out? Usually I just sit on the couch and breathe for exercise Ok, j/K. Seriously, I AM a slug when it comes to exercise. Absolutely HATE it. When I DO work out..it's usually WATP (walking away the pounds) with Leslie Sansone. I've got different tapes of hers. I've just started to lift weights--and not doing too well with that. But it's exercise even the little bit I do!!

Tae Bo is good if u can keep up as u must watch form when doing it to really get the stated benefits. It is good either way, even when not watching form, so u just move around, but it's better to watch ur form. I like the tempo and all but I just don't think I'm fast enough to keep up with it so I ditched it.
I am using the gazelle right now (mine has resistance which I haven't needed to use for a good workout yet). I really like it and if u push it u can get a great workout. It is very much like walking and can be like jogging, in my opinion, cause I get a better workout or at times one equal to when I walk at the mall or jog outside. It is hard to notice this due to the motion in all truth. But it works.
I would try any elliptical (there just better and are more fun in my opinion) , maybe a bike (if u like it), jump rope (when u can handle it and wouldn't suggest it due to high impact), running (which I personally find boring), or bukodan (probably mispelled but it's the one were u mix yoga and martial arts- why this? - cause it seems interesting and different, but that's up to u). Play basketball which I think is fun. Run after the kids in a confined area so they won't outrun u. that is a cheap way but make sure u tell them never to do it unless u allow it at a specified time ( u don't want to be running after them at the mall when it is the wrong time to do this).

Oh now THAT is funny. I can see my kids doing that just because they could. Well, actually, I've proved to them if I HAVE to I CAN catch them I just prefer not to most of the time Great advice

weight lifting 3x a week and cardio 3x a week, walking as often as I can get it in.

I switch it up about every 6 weeks. Keeps the body guessing.

Lately all I do is ride my exercise bike for about 30 minutes while watching TV in my bedroom. Lazy way to exercise. That way I don't have to be completely bored.

I go to the gym every day. Some days I do treadmill and some days I do elliptical trainer. I can't ride a bike until May as the doctor said I had to wait a year after knee surgery.

I also do strength training and work different muscle groups every day.

I do tribal belly dance ( I am a instructor and performer, but in spring I go to drum circles and dance for hours and hours too which is where you get the amazing workout , I have dropped a whole pound suddenly from all night drum circle dancing! :")

I do walking, some Yoga, I used to be way more into Yoga, I have really slipped over the years, But most of my exercise is probabbly just dance and walking..exercise videos bug me..I dont know why, but I can not stick with them or use them, they just seriously bug me. I do better in live classes but cant always afford them.

Dance is one of them cool things that are cheap, once you learn the basic moves you can always make up your own and you can do it anywhere, any time and it does burn alot of calories if you really get your groove on! I teach belly dance, but I have taken classes in flamenco and salsa and brazillian dance and I take what I learned just from going a few times and use it around the house when I am cleaning and jamming out to my cd's

Sometimes I try to stand around and see just how long I can super ultra fast shimmy
that is always fun

I do know one thing about me, I will not exercise unless I find it somewhat amusing and fun..I just will not..

and I consider my big weekly house super cleaning housework too, because I scrub like a banshe and sing and dance and carry on while doing it

I tried belly dancing limbering up exercises when I was much younger. I LOVED the way my spine felt after doing them. I had scoliosis when I was a teenager and so have always had some back pain, but those exercises were wonderful for my back. I never really did learn how to dance it though. I guess I am just not someone with natural rythm.

If I ever get thin enough I'd like to take a class at it. I'd just feel too stupid trying to look that sexy in my fat body!

I am so sorry to hear you hurt your hip when dancing!

I know with my students its their knees and backs I am always watching out for...so far we havnt had any injuries..but yah it can happen..I hurt my own knees a few times over doing practice and tough moves before performances you know..

there is this one move..I was just utterly obbessed with..and man did I push myself and yup..I didnt seriously hurt my knee..but I landed myself in a evening of laying on the couch whinning and throwing a fit to my husband..lol

so yah I have to tell my students that story over and over again.., not to push themselves and that the moves are actually percise and small..its the costume that makes those move look so big and so bangy

Belly Dance is the one dance form that actually encourages and welcomes bigger women though. I have seen all ages and all sizes do belly dance

But I will say this, I choose to do Tribal because I didnt like the caberat costumes ( The ones most ppl think of when they think of belly dance, slit skirt, sequins, whole belly bared, ect ect..)

Tribal belly dance is a bit different and would probabbly be a good place to start, the moves are sexy but in a earthy, powerful way..and some of the moves are just more africian/india folkloric dance moves that more tell a story of harvest, of fertility, of birth and death, its not a dance of *seduction*

(although you can take some of the moves and take them home and if you wanna dance a dance of seduction with 7 veils..**** I aint gonna stop my students you know? )
what they do at home is their own business

but in class..lol the moves are meant to tell a story of life for women in ancient times and modern times and we dont dress all sexy to class..we come in with thrift store broomstick skirts and tshirts..hair up in pony tails, no make up, and like I said..my students are of all ages and sizes, the particular class I have right now, there is only one thin student, the other 7 are actually my size or bigger..
and the age ranges are from like early 30's to late 50's..

and from what I know most belly dance classes are like that..alot of belly dance teachers I know are not skinny young things by any means..
its a pretty laid back usually..

now my daughter takes ballet..

dear god..lmao I couldnt survive that..her teacher is so dam picky and strict and her students are all lil bitty over achievers..lmao

I would love to learn ballet..but there is no way in **** I am walking into a class like that for adults..
I am wayyy to much of a rebel

but belly dance..shoooot..were totally laid back
