Whats for Dinner tonight?

Ahh we have having yummy steak.. I can't wait is a Delmonico which is my favorite.. I am so hungry for it.. I am kind of bummed though because my kids and hubby want 2x baked potatoes so I have to make them.. lol but I am bummed I LOVE them.. so that will be hard to watch them eating them. I have heard (my girlfriend makes this anyone tried it) that you can make mashed cauliflower ?? I wish I had some now.. so I will be having my steak and a small salad while they eat steak, chicken wings, 2x baked potatoe and corn... :( So what all are you making/having for dinner??

RobinW 01-24-2006 07:16 PM

we got really busy putting up some signage, and ended up just having 2 eggs :( Oh well....Im off to the grocery store.

Tennessee 01-24-2006 09:08 PM

I scrambled some hamburger with cumin, garlic and chili powder. Topped it with cheddar cheese, a little lettuce, taco sauce, sour cream and chopped green onions. It was pretty tasty. I also cooked up some chicken for future meals, specifically Greek salads for lunch this week. I'm trying to stick to meat, eggs, cheese and veggies only while I'm on induction *sigh*

lady_adnerb 01-25-2006 08:53 AM

We had venison chops fried in butter and onions. YUMMY. Side salad for me and tator tots for the girls. DH doesn't usually eat what I make. He had a couple eggs (he was on an egg kick. Usually it's just a sandwich) and a couple pieces of venison. WAHOO I've got enough left over for lunch today :)

DEFINITELY wish we had cauliflower & broccoli. I've tried the mashed cauliflower but to me it tastes just like it sounds. Still yummy though, but I figure (for myself) why bother smashing them when I can eat them whole :)

catcookie 01-25-2006 09:44 AM

It's going to be Buffalo wings w/ blue cheese dressing and spinach w/ butter.

I have classes tonight and won't be home until around 7:00 so this is quick
and very very yummy! :D

hockeyfan7 01-25-2006 11:15 PM

I had steak -- london broil. I skipped the veggies because I had a salad at lunch with grilled chicken, egg and bacon.

lady_adnerb 01-26-2006 08:15 AM

The girls had pizza. DH had a sandwich and salad. I had leftover chicken strips and a salad.
Nope, I'm not a very adventurous eater (and also, we're running low on groceries  ).

Idealperson 05-12-2006 03:31 PM

I thought I'd bring this current again because I'm always searching for meal ideas...

Tonight I'm having baked fish with fresh asparagus and morel mushrooms.

PS- Is Chili low carb?????

lilybelle 05-12-2006 08:53 PM

I was totally off program tonite. Only second time in almost 11 months, so I'm not gonna beat myself up over it. It's my daughter's 14th birthday and we are having a slumber party. So, back on program tomorrow.

nanaimo 05-12-2006 08:57 PM

I'm having multigrain breaded haddock and garlic sauteed brocolli...mmm, now I'm hungry. But I have to head off to flexibility class first.

:yoga:

needtolose4me2 05-12-2006 09:13 PM

Wow!, you guys come up with some good ideas! I need to be a bit more adventerous. For me tonight it was 2 turkey cheeseburgers wraped in lettuce leaves. (a bit dry) I guess I could have used a little mayo though huh?
how do you make the buffalo wings? I mean what kind of seasoning?
That sounded good. It's a bit hard for me because I only eat chicken, turkey and fish. So it tends to be the same things over and over again.:dizzy:

rebeleagle1965 05-12-2006 11:44 PM

I had a salad, topped with chopped ham and some chopped bbq chicken breast, and a little shredded cheese. We had leftover bbq chicken from last night-I skip the sauce on mine and use seasoning and chipotle tabasco mixed with mayo to baste it. Lunch was one of those chicken breasts whole, breakfast was a sugar free "chocolate" pudding cup (I know, it's junk, but I was on the road and it's better than the drive-thru mcd's everyone else had).....not bad at all for watching what you eat.....

catcookie 05-15-2006 04:09 PM

Buffalo wings are really easy to make. I just bake the wings in the oven
at around 400 for about 25-30 minutes then make the coating using 1/4 cup
hot sauce and 1/4 cup melted butter. mix in a bowl, pour over wings bake for 15 more (I do some just have them like that)and serve with either blue cheese ( my favorite) or ranch dressing.:smug:

Falon 05-16-2006 11:45 AM

This thread gives some really great ideas!

Cat cookie - chicken wings are my absolute favorite Friday night food while watching Carnivale on HBO. I make a homemade ranch dressing with chipotle peppers diced in it, poor it over the wings after they come out of the oven. Ooo la la!

Tonight is chicken strogenoff with portobello mushrooms, salad, and something else... not sure yet.

Oh, and mashed cauliflower is awesome. Put the steamed cauli in a food processor, butter, salt, pepper, and whip it on high. Add a little cream before creamy and it's like potatoes. My kids love when I make fotato salad. Make potato salad as you normally would but add steamed cauliflower instead. My son could eat that only for dinner!! :)

hockeyfan7 05-16-2006 01:45 PM

Next time you go through McDonald's for breakfast with everyone else, get the sausage McMuffin with egg and cheese and throw away the muffin. Or the bacon, egg and cheese anything and throw away the anything. I used to do that all the time before I was diagnosed with Celiac and had to avoid fast food places - cross contamination issues.

needtolose4me2 05-16-2006 08:26 PM

Thanks for the wing recipe. I'll do that this week! Sounds good. I thinkI'll also try the mashed cauliflower I've been putting it off thinking - no way - but you're making it sound pretty tempting!
thanks:)

M&Gmom 05-17-2006 06:21 PM

Tonight I'm making steak, mashed cauliflower and salad. I love the mashed cauliflower. so does my DS who is 5

lilybelle 05-17-2006 08:55 PM

I had a low-carb quesadilla with steak, cheese, sour cream and guacamole. Home-made food and it was delicious and so easy to fix. The rest of my family had mexican casserole with mexican rice. My husband gets whiney if he don't get his carbs.

rebeleagle1965 05-17-2006 09:11 PM

Breakfast-Low carb vanilla shake & 2 slices bacon
Lunch-Deli sliced ham over salad
But dinner was the best-
I made a pot roast in the crock pot, with a powder based gravy that only had 4 carbs per 1/4 cup (which I watered down a little anyway), and of course garlic and other seasonings.
I shredded it on a plate with just a little of the gravy, and melted some mozzerella cheese over it. SOOOOO good.

I didn't even feel deprived watching everyone else eat their roast with rice, mashed potatos, and corn, which I would NEVER have been able to do without before.

hockeyfan7 05-17-2006 09:26 PM

Grilled chicken breast and asparagus for dinner.

Lunch was slices of ham, turkey and roast beef with cheddar on a lettuce leaf with 2 slices of tomato and about a tsp of mayo.

Breakfast was this low carb cereal I bought from Netrition.

lilybelle 05-20-2006 12:17 AM

I had a sausage and cheese omelet for breakfast. No lunch, just a piece of string cheese. Had baked chicken, brocolli, salad and cottage cheese for dinner.

rebeleagle1965 05-20-2006 12:54 AM

Lunch - Grilled rainbow trout; salad with ranch; grilled veggies

Dinner - Grilled elk medallions; grilled asparagus

I have a hot dog for a snack (it has 1 gram of carbs) with cheese -- I've been craving hot dogs lately.

lilybelle 05-22-2006 02:18 PM

I had scrambled eggs with cheese and 3 slices of bacon for breakfast. Lunch will be 2 slices of ham rolled up with cream cheese, green onions and black olives, dinner will be low carb steak quesadilla. Snack will be raspberries with cream topping.

rebeleagle1965 05-22-2006 11:11 PM

Dinner was SO good-
Tyson pre-cooked chicken strips, southwest flavor
Topped with shredded colby and monterey jack cheese
and 2 Tbs salsa

6 grams carbs altogether

Born2run2 05-23-2006 12:17 AM

King Salmon, salad and broccoli and cauliflower mixed. Yesterday I had a low carb beef fajita at a restaurant. Judy:^:

hockeyfan7 05-24-2006 02:31 PM

It's 12:30 here and I haven't eaten yet today -- just a diet Coke. I'm not really hungry, but I'm going to have to go have something.

Born2run2 05-25-2006 12:20 AM

Yesterday I had steak, and a salad, tonight I had chicken, broccoli, and a salad. I just haven't been that hungry, which is unlike me, this WOE is great. Judy:woo: :balloons: :encore:

JudyChat 05-25-2006 10:11 AM

We had tacos last night. I usually just eat the meat, cheese, sour cream, salsa, black olives, and tomatoes on a big bed of romaine lettuce. Also, hubby made low carb jalepeno poppers, and they were HOT! But, they were very good!

hockeyfan7 05-25-2006 03:34 PM

I ended up taking chicken breasts and dipping them in a mix of egg and mustard, rolling them in coconut flour and cooking them on the George Foreman. I bought some coconut flour from Netrition -- it only has 1 gram of carbs per serving and it tastes great. Steamed some green beens too.

This morning I had lettuce leaves with mayo, tomato and bacon - my gluten-free, low-carb BLT.

I'm still not feeling very hungry though.

Falon 05-25-2006 08:26 PM

I'll have to find coconut flour! I love eating it shredded for desert. :)

Tonight is roasted chicken, broccoli in cream sauce, and salad.

hockeyfan7 05-27-2006 01:02 PM

Last night's dinner was wonderful!

We had grilled filet mignon that we got on sale at the grocery that was fantastic along with grilled zucchini. Yum!

Born2run2 05-29-2006 08:57 PM

Soup and a Salad, last night it was Fish and Salad.:?: :?: :?: :?:

needtolose4me2 05-29-2006 09:08 PM

Susan - does the coconut flour have a strong coconut flavor? just wondering. It sounds good. Boy you have some great meals. IF I lived in Denver I'd be "stopping by " alot around dinner
!

lilybelle 05-30-2006 12:04 PM

We are having grilled chicken, grilled squash and salad for dinner tonite. I made enchiladas last night with LC tortillas and a salad, everyone else had beans and mexican rice with theirs.

MsChris 05-30-2006 12:26 PM

I cooked baked chicken, boiled broccoli, and boiled squash and onions for Memorial day dinner. I am having leftovers for dinner tonight. The squash and onions was SO good. I have never really liked squash before, but these came off the farm this weekend and were really young and sweet tasting.

hockeyfan7 05-30-2006 01:25 PM

Needtolose - the coconut flour was sweet and did have a decent coconut flavor -- not too strong. It was very good with the chicken.

I had fajitas (combo beef and chicken) with the cheese, onions/peppers and a little guacamole with tomatoes and lettuce at a Mexican restaurant last night.

Breakfast today was bacon and sausage with a small portion of blackberries and raspberries. Lunch today is cheeseburger with salad.

needtolose4me2 05-30-2006 03:37 PM

Hockey - before I place an order for that coconut flour, is there anything else from there that you would really recommend?

maggie
