Thumbs up My Life decision

I have been teetering back and forth between Atkins and the Mediterranean diet; but I ALWAYS FAIL at the Med diet. I that is because the SAD junk has been such a part of my life that I CRAVE it day and night, so now I decided to do Atkins to get my PCOS and insulin resistance under control and once I deal with the sugar issue and flour issue. (maybe a year or more)I will change my diet back to the Med; when my body tells me too.
When I do Adkins I dont crave as much and that is where I tend to fail.
So HERE I AM......

Hey, I took your advice and followed you over here. There is a lot of stuff.

This is not my first time on Atkins. I used Atkins to help me get pregnant and carry my baby since I have PCOS and type II diabetes. I feel I owe my sons life to low carbing. Since having my son, Jamie, money has just been so tight. We couldn't figure out how to fit the diet into our budget. We've been eating super cheap junk food like pot pies, totinos pizzas, etc. My husband and I have both ballooned. I weigh quite a bit more now than when I was pregnant. How sad is that. I can't even try to blame it on the baby, lol!

Well, as you know, this is day 3 for me on induction. It's been a rough couple of days, but already I'm being rewarded. NO MORE INSULIN!! I'm in moderate ketosis already. I was yesterday afternoon. That's pretty fast. I ate too many sugar alcohols yesterday and payed the price last night. I forgot you have to build up a tolerance for the stuff.

Good luck Kathy! Thanks for inviting me.

LaurAnnHere,

I know what you mean... I've used "Atkins is expensive" as an excuse for a long time as to why I couldn't go back on it. But in reality, I'm not sure it is any more expensive than anything else if you do it right. Hamburger isn't too expensive, nor are eggs, nor is tuna. We've had some really broke days this month, and I've managed to stay on it even so.

It takes planning and carefully looking at the situation. Sometimes my "Atkins" for the day is some small amount of meat and quite a bit of salad and veggys. The lower carb type. You can do it!

We just have to find a way to do it, no matter what. If that means eating mostly lettuce, so be it.

Looking back over the past month of sales papers I noticed that my grocer has a rhythm of sales. Usually the 2nd week of the month the meat is cheaper than the rest of the month. I guess we all just need to start keeping our eyes open to these sales.

ps. I noticed walmart does not really have meat sales.?

Please tell me about your pregnancy.
You said that after going low carb you got pregnant?
I know you have pcos like me; did low carb help your period?

They don't like links here, but my website is mypcosbaby.com. You can go there and read my birthstory.

Low-carbing caused me to ovulate. I had better follicle checks. I would have more potentially viable follicles. I did use meds when I got pregnant, but I think I may not have needed to.

Lowcarbing has straightened out my hormones(until the hot flashes started up last year) but I have pcos, and I was never regular until I started lowcarbing.

Good Luck ladies and welcome!!
