Good morning everyone.

Robin - WTG girl :carrot: :cp:. That is awesome! You are doing amazing...keep up the great losin'. I would actually keep the pants...for now! When I lost all my weight the 1st time, I pitched everything (well, gave it to charity actually). When I reached my goal, I actually wished I had kept a pair of my largest jeans so I could get a picture of me holding them. Corny sounding I know, but seeing that difference would have been amazing and I think a total motivator to have kept it off. I don't think I would have regained this much if I'd had that picture stuck on my fridge.

Liv - LOL about the robots. I totally agree!

Lacey - how's it goin' with those eggs? Kudos to you - I couldn't do it unless I never planned on having eggs again for the rest of my life . That is a great quote!

Tenn - 1 pound is awesome :carrot:. Next time you cook up a pound of ground beef just think you don't have that on your body anymore! WTG on those #'s :bravo:. Dr. A knew what he was talking about eh? :).

Bec - WTG on getting the exercise in. I think starting an exercise program is way more difficult than starting induction LOL. I personally couldn't do one or the other to lose weight, I need both LC & exercise.

Iwasskinnyonce - :welcome3: to the group! Looking forward to getting to know you!

Brenda - sounds like an interesting class.

As for me - I've had a chest cold myself since Friday that I've been trying to ignore & fight off (makes exercising really difficult when you can't breathe!!). Yesterday morning woke up and it was more a head cold & by last night it moved back into my chest, lost my voice (which my 6 year old finds really funny - ha ha ha NOT ;) ) & have a sore throat and bad cough. So, it won :( . Not exercising today - going to rest & take it easy and see if that helps.

Have a great day everyone!!! TTFN!

Good Morning :rain:

Tenn~ WTG on your test results!! That must be quit a load off your mind. Thankyou for the slipper pattern, it does look really easy!! Im going to give it a try. WTG on your lb lost! :bravo: Could you also resend the xmas list to me pls. I accidentaly deleted it :(

Bec~ Ive been on induction for the last 2 weeks, and Ive decided to stay on it at least anothe week. If things slow down, Im going to give what Lacey is doing a try, meat and eggs for a week. You can check out my menu's on the christmas to me thread. Thats what I eat, everything is kept under 20 carbs, and if I dont feel full enough, I eat more meat. I usually have 3-4 chicken thighs, or a large chicken breast, full can of tuna if Im not having any veggies with it...stuff like that.

I have noticed that when I eat more eggs in a week, I loose more. So there must be something to it.

Its nice to see so many new folks around...

Food was good yesterday...dhubs is amazing! I told him I never want to be here again (again) he got this funny look on his face, and I asked him what he was thinking.....I got the "what am I suppose to do when your eating something your not suppose to? I try to take it away....Im taking my life in my hands?" Poor guy  cuz he's right, he is so supportive and helpful, but when Im eating that potato chip, Im like a mother bear protecting her cub :lol3: take it, and your dead meat!! So I told him I dont know....and laughed, but I did tell him to remind me how good I look and feel when I dont eat that crap.

Not much planned for today, coffee and a walk....then I dont know :dunno: have a great day ladies!

Yup does here too! I can clear off my living room table every morning & by every afternoon it's loaded with stuff again. I don't think I've seen my kitchen table for years :D.

Ive tried this :( I even had a picture of my300lbself on the fridge. For me it didnt work. When my jeans started getting tighter, I would just think, well, its ok, I'll wear the 18's for a week until I get back down....then months would go by, and the 18's weren't fitting anymore. The photo on the fridge is easy to ignore when you need to. Im not saying it wont work for you, its worked for alot of ladies here. But I need to get rid of it all! If I dont have the bigger size, I wont go buy it....the lbs have to come off instead.

I took the 300lbself picture off the fridge, and replaced it with a note saying "I have complete control over every bit of food I eat"

Mind you I love to look at the pictures of the ladies that are in there "fat" pants, and can fit in only one leg of them!! I love it!! I wish I had something like that too....but I just cant.

Make sure you show us your picture when you get there!! I'll just post a before and after :)

Brenda: The CD class sounds extremely interesting to me, I wonder if it's something that can be done at home, like on tape or something?

Bec: Your smilies crack me up :D

I weighed this morning just to see if the scales have budged at all and I officially broke my plateau. I lost 5 pounds in two days and officially weigh less than I have in 12 years. :carrot:
Of course I would never recommend it to people as a fad diet or anything, I was plateaued for five weeks.
For those two days it was 3 scrambled eggs for breakfast, then when I'd get hungry I'd eat a boiled egg and for lunch and supper I crushed boiled eggs up and put real mayo and a little mustard on them. (do I hate eggs, YES. :barf: But I hate the plateau worse)
besides that, I didn't put anything on them or eat anything else. I'm going to stay on it just one more day since that has been the suggested time, and see if anymore weight comes off and then gradually add back meat and other induction accepted foods.

(btw, I read that if you don't eat ENOUGH of the eggs and if the egg fast is not warranted, that it will throw your body into starvation mode, slow the metabolism down and have the opposite effect)

I don't know if the link is accepted or not but if anyone wants to read the site where I got the egg info just pm me and I'll send it to ya :)

Iwasskinnyonce: welcome aboard!! It's awesome to have you here!!

Yahhhhhhhh Lacey!!
:bravo: :cp: :hat: :cb: :flow1:  :high:  :cheer:

Its good to know its working!! Keep us posted how the loss goes once you start to add back. This is way cool!!

Mindy5936 11-29-2005 06:39 PM

Lacey congrats on busting through your plateau!:cheer:

I'm wondering how others handle getting back on plan after being off for a short while. I was off plan for two days at Thanksgiving, I've been doing induction since then. Do you usually go back to induction or pick up where you left off carb wise?

RobinW 11-29-2005 07:19 PM

um....usually :D Getting right back on induction is ideal!!! I have such a hard time getting back on the wagon once Ive fallen off. You're doing great! Keep it up...then work your way back to your carb level.

Mindy5936 11-29-2005 07:49 PM

:thanks: Robin, I went back to where I was carb wise before Thanksgiving and its been like a roller coaster ride. I dropped two pounds then went back up one. I had a headache again ( I always have a killer headache the first couple days I do low carb) I'm going to think twice before going off plan for the rest of the Holidays. Maybe a couple more weeks of induction will fix me up.

Liv4rok 11-29-2005 08:41 PM

So, I just had an interesting visit. My friend, who used to live next to me, and who started Atkins with me in August, came over. She stopped doing Atkins when she had to move in early September so she actually gained weight over what she started at in August. She knew how I was doing on it, but we hadn't been together since she moved. She was the first non-family member who has said anything about it and she just kept pointing out things she noticed about me and I have to share how good I feel after hearing these things. It feels so good to be getting healthy and seeing results motivates me to keep going strong.

I have these folding camp chairs and for a very long time, I have always exceeded the max weight limit on the chairs and had the edges of the seat canvas digging into my thighs. Guess what?! I don't exceed the weight limit anymore and I don't overhang the edges of the seat! She's so funny...she said, "you have boobs and a stomach now. Before the boobs and the rolls were pretty even and blended together." Obviously, she was too nice to tell me all of these things when I was 60+lbs heavier, but hearing more of the things people notice but never wanted to tell you when you were fat keeps drilling in my head that I won't ever go back to that point!

Have you guys felt this way...when you lose weight and you notice your clothes getting looser it's ok, but it doesn't feel real until someone else actually points it out and notices the change?

I'm so proud of everyone's accomplishments! You all look awesome! Thanks for the support!

Trazzie 11-29-2005 11:36 PM

Hi Everyone,
I used to be a frequent flyer on these boards, but I haven't been around in quite some time. Shamefully I have been gone way WAY to long. I still see a couple of the old faces in here  I'm back!
Anyways let me fill you in a bit of what has been happening in my life. My husband and I split up. We agreed our marriage was more of a close friendship and decided that's the way it should stay before we lost that too. So I ventured out on my own as a single mother of 3 YIKES.. yup but I managed and in the process I have met the most wonderful man. I met him when I was at my all time low (weight wise) and he still loves me even tho I'm probably back up, if not over my all time high :( We want to have a baby and even tho I have 3 girls he doesn't have any children, and at my ripe young age of 34 some work needs to be done.
Yuppers..its time for some changes and I'm going to tackle them all at once.. God help me!
Starting tomorrow (Wednesday) I am going to begin my journey in quitting smoking, I'm not going cold "high carb" turkey, I'm going to ween myself.
I am going start eating healthier, I'm not going completely low carb at first, I figure I'm just going to save that until after Christmas, but salads are going to be included in the menu as well as my long lost water. And I am going to start moving this big old butt again. Time to break out the Gazelle and dust 'er off.
So the weigh in starts tomorrow and I'll post all the gory details then.
Have a good night all, I'm so excited to be back!

Liv4rok 11-30-2005 12:20 AM

I don't know about you guys, but I have been crying for almost 2 hours!! Don't worry it's not bad...I just watched the Biggest Loser Finale... OMG I was just amazed by the amazing transformations! I'm so happy that Matt won. I liked them all, but I really wanted him to win.
They all did so good and I wish their results for all of us!

EarthyMama 11-30-2005 12:51 AM

I read all of these posts, and feel like I know each of you already!
I introduced myself in the Jaded Ladies weekly thread.
I just want to say that you ALL are a HUGE inspiration! HUGE!
I'm 5'5 and a half and 270 pounds. I am doing Atkins. Fell off of it for a whole month and just started again yesterday. The scale says I've lost 2 pounds already, but not sure if I buy that! I'm in a small level of ketosis now.
What excercises do you ladies do to keep the pounds off?
Anyone figured out how to do Atkins on a budget of some kind?
Well, Take care everyone. You all are wonderful!!

EM

Mindy5936 11-30-2005 07:07 AM

:welcome: EarthyMama. I often lose two pounds during the first day or two of induction, a lot of that is water weight but it still feels great to see the scale move!

:welcome2: Trazzie.

Liv4rok, I'm so excited for you! It always feels great when someone notices your hard work. I love when someone points out something I haven't even noticed myself.:woo: I saw your pics on one of the other threads. Your friend is right you look great!

beckamundo 11-30-2005 07:47 AM

Morning :) chickies!!!
Hope everyone had a OP day yesterday and a wonderful evening. I worked out :carrot: for 30 minutes yesterday and then did a mile on the bike :ebike: last night. Woo Hoo to me. Yes, I am tooting my own horn, but I am so proud of myself. I got on the scale this morning....even though I said I wouldn't and knowing what I 'weighed' after the holidays, I'm already down 6lbs:goodscale . Go Bec, Go Bec, keep it going, Go Bec. I'm on Day 3 of induction again. I'm still not to where I was before the holiday, but getting closer, I'll let you all know when I'm back to that weight!! I did 'cheat' a little last night, I needed some 'veggies' and we have no lettuce in the house and won't be getting any until the weekend so I had some leftover green bean casserole. Not the best decision, but better than the homemade mashed potatoes that the rest of the family was eating. I'll post my food over in the Merry Christmas to me thread, and today's exercise will be 30 minutes :carrot: exercise and 1 mile on the bike:ebike: . Maybe more, but no less.

Stacey~Hope you get to feeling better soon!! Being sick :barf: and trying to 'workout' :tread: and eat healthy isn't easy. Drink plenty of water and get yourself to feeling better. ;)

Robin~Glad that you have that supportive dh. Mine is also  , but I'm like you when I get into my 'need carbs' mode he better watch out and stay out of my way :nono: . LOL Sometimes what he says gets to me and I am good, but there are times that it doesn't matter and I just need the 'junk'. I'm hoping that as I continue on the weight loss journey that I will 'need' the junk less and less.

Lacey~KUDOS on the 5lbs lost:goodscale in 2 days!!! You go girl!!! WOW eating eggs :chicken: does help you lose weight. I don't know if I could eat them w/out anything 'extra' w/them. You know, like ham:ink: , cheese:moo: , onions, green peppers, or sausage:ink: . Keep us up to date on your progress and what happens when you stop eating eggs 24/7.:bravo:

Mindy~I always try and start back w/induction. It seems to throw my body back into the 'swing' of things. I may not stay on it for the 2 weeks, but at least a couple days to help rid my body of the carbs. :)

Liv4rok~What an awesome feeling!! :cloud9: I would love  to have someone who hasn't seen me for awhile tell me how good I'm looking w/the weight I've lost. My sister-in-law that I haven't seen since July, well actually I saw her a couple weekends ago at a college football game but I was loaded up on clothes, so that doesn't count, right?? LOL will see me @ Christmas :gift2: and hopefully she will notice something. I am feeling so good but I want others to notice it and mention it. It gives me more motivation. I couldn't believe their results, I did feel bad :( for the one girl who didn't lose or gain any more since she left and what about Nick??? Why didn't he come back?? That was weird. I loved the show and am just glad that all those people are doing so good. I want to be them some day. And you know what, I will!!

EM~Welcome!! :wel3fc: :welcome2: :welcome: :welcome3: You are so right this a wonderful support system and there are lots of great people here. Can't wait to learn more about you!!:balloons:

Trazzie~:welcome3: Welcome Back!!! :welcome: I am so glad that you found love  again and that you are your man are wanting to add more to your family:bb: . That is awesome. You can do this girl and you are still young to have a healthy pregnancy:bb: . Good luck w/quitting smoking and going 'low carb'. You can do this and if there is anything I can do to help you along, just let me know. :)

Have a great & OP day chickies!!
