Default Turkey Carb Warning!!!

Go check yer turkey labels girls...

I'm am SO MAD I could spit!!! I bought three Jeanie-O breast only turkeys because they were on sale, I love turkey, and I assumed they were on plan! HA!!! Checked the label - 5 CARBS in 4 oz. of turkey. I looked at the ingredients, and it's because they took a perfectly good turkey and soaked it in salt and SUGAR water, I'm outraged. You know how much turkey I could have eaten assuming it was 0? What if I were a diabetic? O my - Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! I'll be returning it tomorrow and sending a nasty-gram to the company!

oh my ****.

I'm not making the turkey this year and I was honestly planning on filling up on it. What do I do, ask my aunt to dig the package out of the trash?

thanks for pointing this out, of course I didn't even consider that any turkey had carbs in it

Well, isn't it just that Jeanie-O kind that has the high carbs cuz they took turkey breast and messed with it? And isn't your regular, run-of-the-mill turkey that you have to get up at the buttcrack of dawn to start cooking ok? Hmmmm, I'm going to have check into this......

Nope, it's an actual run of the mill cook it all day turkey, but the breasts, wings and drumsticks aren't attached. I have the same concern about going anywhere for dinner now, because I figured I'd fill up on turkey, but... now what??? Who'dathunk you'd have to read the package on a turkey?

I never would have thought turkey would have carbs in it, unless of course you cooked it with stuffing or some kind of glaze. Even Atkins carb counter has turkey as 0 carbs - now I'm really wondering how accurate that is?!?! Hmmmmmmm

It's the manufacturers packaging, so I'm guessing it's accurate. An unadulterated turkey should be 0 carbs, it's when they load it with sugar that it's more

I did some checking around yesterday and Jennie-O 'processes' their turkey so that is where the carbs crop up. Fresh/frozen, unprocessed, looks-like-a-turkey-with-legs-n-wings turkey has no carbs for a serving portion. So we all should be safe consuming the bird the will be on most tables come Thursday.
