Tuesday Chat - Sept 7th

  • Good Morning,

And Happy Birthday Brenda !! May you have MANY MANY MANY more with hugs, kisses and loads of love.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

    TTYL
  • Leenie: thanks. Hope you have a great day

Well, blew it yesterday. Had nachos and cheese dip. ARGH!! Not going to worry about today either (just in case I slip). But tomorrow? No more soda (it might be what's stalled me before and what's causing these cave-ins?) and back to chugging water. I want to prove to myself that I can (again) go 2 weeks on induction (not strict. I like my sunflower seeds too much. But I'll be cutting down on them in my salads). So that's my plan
  • Good morning everyone.

Leenie: Had a very nice LONG weekend...hope you did too.

Brenda: Happy Birthday. Are you sure that going back to induction isn't putting too much pressure on you? I know it helps sometimes to get back to basics but if you cheat then it becomes a BIG cheat. Since I have loosened up a bit I actually do better on the weekends (not this weekend ) Now don't get me wrong....I'm still not at goal but I feel better about things.

Well, I got my new bike on Friday night. I rode it all weekend. Not very far mind you. My butt is achin! Long story......I had an appt on Thursday with an allergist (had to get retested after 20 years I guess) He was very concerned about my asthma. I said I really don't have asthma...it is just allergy induced....he said "that is asthma". (I was diagnosed with a mild form of it when I was in my 20's) He asked if I have a problem exercising....I said no, unless I jog. He asked what happens then. I told him I get chest pains....he said "that is asthma". He just kept shaking his head at me. So anyway....out I go from the office with inhalers galore! He wanted me to start using them right away. I don't want to because I don't think it is that bad. I promised him at the first sign of a cold I would start using them and not stop until the cold is gone.
SOooooooooooooooo....off I go on my new bike......could only get a few miles and started having problems breathing. Rode home and used the inhalers. Took off the next day and didn't even get as far as I did the day before. Rode home and used the inhalers AGAIN!. DH and I went to the bike store and got a small pack that attaches under the seat so that I can bring the freakin inhalers with me now!

Kind of worried and freaked out that 1. I am so out of shape I can't get up any hills on the damn bike and 2. that this asthma crap is becoming such a big issue.

Well, anyway.....even with all my biking this weekend I am up almost 4 pounds On to be good as gold this week.
  • Good Morning ladies

I am back from my yard sale weekend and my love affair with Krispy Kreme donuts. I swear those suckers are like crack! Don't have a 3 family yard sale with someone who can eat whatever they want and stay 90 pounds, that is the moral of this story. So now I am back in the saddle, 3 weeks to Vegas lets see what I can do.

    B- happy Birthday!!

    Hi Leenie!!!

Jane- great about the bike...yuck about the inhalers.

    Off to work kids...talk later!
  • Good morning everyone!

Happy Birthday Brenda! Hugs! I saw your new pics on another post and you look great!

Good morning Leenie...hope you're having a wonderful morning!

Morning Jane! I can't wait to get a new bike. You are going to find all kinds of muscles you never knew you had

Morning Theo's Girl! Wow, Vegas would be a great motivator! I know what you mean about the tiny people who can eat...my best friend is about 101lbs dripping wet and lives on junk food.

Hope everyone is having a great morning, I'm off to get a replacement social security card, what a pain. I need to get organized so I don't lose the new one. I tried to get my driver's license changed from VA to LA and they won't do it with out my ss card even though I have 50 million forms of id.

    Stay safe!
    Jules
  • Theo'sgirl: I don't get the Krispy Kreme thing....I guess I am just not a doughnut person. But I can replace that with any number of other NON-LEGAL foods!

Loozingme: When I got married a couple years ago I had to get a new SS card and license. It was a riot! I couldn't get a SS card until I had a license but I couldn't get a license without a SS card Ended up having to dig out a birth certificate or something.....don't remember now. Good luck!
  • Good Morning Leenie.

Happy Birthday Brenda. I too think that you look great in your pictures. Very slim actually. Way to go.

Jane I am sorry about the asthma, hopefully you will be able to bring it under control so that you could enjoy this weather and biking. Congratulations on getting a new bike. Don’t worry about not being in shape, you will be by the end of this month.

TG, I am glad you had a fun weekend. A KK has just opened up in my area but I have stayed away. I don’t even want to try it. For me it seems it is easier to say no to begin with rather than tasting it, loving it and then have to say no.

Jules, welcome. And good luck at the SS office.

So, I hope that you all had a great long weekend and a fabulous summer. Even though I love fall and am looking forward to cool crisp morning air, I will miss long days of summer. In the past few fall/winters I have felt very isolated once the days got shorter. I am very determined not to let that happen this year. Anyhow, I had a great summer. I enjoyed it to the fullest. I did lots of outdoor activities. I have picked up my running and biking. Once my best friend comes back from her honeymoon we are going to start playing tennis again, like old times.

I attended her wedding last weekend and had a blast. She was absolutely gorgeous. I mean she is gorgeous to begin with but in her wedding gown she was just so beautiful. I also got to see lots of old friends whom I hadn’t seen for 5, 6, even 7 years. I was about 11 pounds heavier than when I had last seen them, LOL, but I don’t think it was noticeable. So that was actually my summer goal, to attend this wedding and not look too different from before.

Anyhow, I also got to see my xBF and her new fiancé. I thought it might be awkward since she is a mutual friend. You know when we were dating I sometimes thought that she was, well lets just say not like our other friends. But as soon as the thought came to my head I pushed it away and told myself that I don’t want to be a jealous type. But now I know better, from now on I will always trust my instincts, it seems that they weren’t too wrong, LOL. Anyway, it was great seeing my X. It wasn’t awkward at all. I think he was happy. I hope that he is.

Anyhow, I did my measurements a few weeks ago and it bothers me that I am not losing much in my waist. My measurements before I gained weight were 34/26/33. Now I am 36/33/35. So basically I have been losing in my bust and hip and I am only 2” away from my before measurements, which I think is consistent with being 11 pounds over my before weight. But my waist is still 7” away. Basically I have only lost about 2” in my waist since I have started losing weight. Do you think I have to leave with big waist from now on? That would suck big time. Since everywhere I am going to be about size 4-6 and my waist is going to be size 16. I have been checking some charts and basically waist of 33” is size 16, I kid you not, LOL. My mom used to have my measurements, almost, until she had me. I remember her complaining that her waist stayed at around 30” and even though she was lighter than before her pregnancy but her waist and hips never went back to her pre-pregnancy size. I have been doing lots of yoga and some weight training but nothing has helped so far.

Anyway, here is to a great week and beginning of a great season.
  • Motto for the day: DON'T eat Krispy Kreme they are the crack of the donut world, addiction is bad!!! ahahahahahaha
  • Jane: Congrats about the bike but I'm sorry to hear about the asthma. My docs have told me that both oldest DD and I have it....but I refuse to listen due to the fact that we don't get the attacks all the time. And if I don't do induction I don't know WHAT to do......I haven't lost weight in MONTHS! Partly due to the "slip-ups" but I hadn't been losing even before those. So I'm stumped as to what to do. Thought 2 weeks of induction would help. Don't ya think?

TG: Can you believe I've never had a Krispie Kreme?? I've heard from plenty of people that they're good. Glad you enjoyed them...and your rummage sale

Jules: I've never had to deal with replacing social security cards. Hope all goes well!

Rachel: Not sure what to tell you about your measurements. I would think they'd start going down.

Well, so far so good. I've made it 1/2 way through the day w/out cheating. Of course, all my problems usually start after supper. But like I said, not going to worry about it today. Doing a big-time start over tomorrow. To see if I can actually make it 2 weeks and to see if once I add certain things (soda?) if that triggers me to cheat. I also want to see if, after 2 weeks of being good if the weight drops off (at least a pound every other week or so would be nice to see!!!!). So that's the plan. Now it's off to do some push mow the lawn (my riding lawn mower is broke and I decided to help DH out with the push mowing) and then later doing Girl Scout stuff. Our first meeting with youngest DD's troop is tomorrow!! OH!! I'm also using my BD money and getting myself a perm. That wild hair in the pictures needs to be tamed down
  • Brenda: I haven't lost anything either in months....I keep gaining on the weekend then losing during the week. But I guess if being on induction keeps you in check than it is a good thing. I know I need the flexability otherwise I get bored.

rachelearth: I hope so!!!! I sure don't feel in shape now I can tell you that! It just blows me away that all the walking I did basically was nothing! I don't know what good it did me to be honest with you because if I can't even ride a silly old bike!!!!! I want to try and get in another 4 miles tonight. I know it doesn't sound like much but at least it is something.
  • Brenda: I had read in so many articles that when the craving hits we should try to get ourselves busy and try to get the craving out of our minds. Let 10, 15 minutes passes and if the craving didn’t go away then give in and have a small portion what we are craving. I always read these articles and dismissed them. One night without even noticing, when the craving hit I decided to cook tomorrow’s lunch and dinner. By the time I was done I didn’t want what I had craved for before. So now if I feel like it, when the craving hits at night, I get myself busy. One thing that I have been doing lately is reorganizing my parents stuff. It has been almost five years that they passed away and I have not touched their things nor have I let anyone else touch it. But now that I am in a better state of mind I have been able to little by little clean up.

Jane: It is not that you are out of shape and the walking that you have done did nothing for you. Walking certainly conditioned your calf muscles and biking will do the same thing for your quad and hamstrings muscles. And four miles is plenty. The key is to start small and build slow. If you try to be ambitious from the beginning you are going to wear yourself out. Have fun riding tonight.
  • Jane: 4 miles is 4 miles! Every "little" bit helps!! Keep your chin up!

Rachel: I'll have to start trying to get my mind off what I'm craving. Plus maybe I need to have more healthier snacks on hand. NOT pork rinds though (not crazy about those)
