It's so hard to be good!

  • Hi chicks! I was just thinking about it and I know my toughest time to stay on program is at night after dinner. I'm not sure why exactly, it's not like I couldn't do other stuff to keep from eating. It's the time right after dinner for about an hour. If I can muddle through that hour, then I'm usually fine.

It's almost like my body has been programmed to eat excessively and then shovel down dessert. Which now I try not to do both of, so maybe it's just a reprogramming thing.

So how about you guys? Is there a certain time of day?
  • Mine's a boredom thing. DH works swing shift, so right now, the evenings can be a little hairy. If I'm at home and alone and there's not a thing to do, I want to start eating. The result is that I go out a lot! See? I'm a party girl for a purpose!
  • Too funny! I find though that if I go out after work and have a couple drinks, my food decision-making is so much worse. I haven't figured out how to drink and stay away from carbs.
  • I definitely want to eat more after dinner. But I tend to also want to eat more if I allow myself a LC snack. Or during TOM.....hmm...at the moment the list could go on
  • My main problem is right after lunch until supper. I want something sweet so bad. I usually don't have the same problem after supper, unless I'm home alone. Being alone in the house can lead me to do very bad things!

And I have the same problem with drinks, Kerri. They just impair my judgment, and I make terrible food choices!
  • I just don't eat when I'm drinking. There is good potential for being ravenous when I get home, though, so I keep stuff in the fridge that is easy to nuke. If I'm out and desperate, I ask the bartender for a slice of cheese. It does the trick.

It may help that this is my 'home bar' that I'm talking about so no one even thinks twice when I ask for something like that. OR keep string cheese in your purse when you go out. It's portable!
  • After dinner is a big problem for me. I try to go to bed early..sad huh

Theres just something about putting the kiddies to bed, sitting down watching some tv, down time, and relaxing with a bowl of something, its soothing and it feels rewarding/relaxing. Thats my problem !!!! End of the day, I deserve this feeling.
  • I would have to say after dinner or late night. But I just keep fruit and yogurt on hand. Fruit may not be exactly OP, but its better than other stuff. I usually make a smoothie or something out of berries and lc yogurt.

My hardest time is PMS. I get really emotional and that leads to emotional eating type binges. Especially if I am angry or hurt.
