Wednesday Chat!

Good morning....starting this baby up today.

lady_adnerb 06-02-2004 08:31 AM

Hi Jane

Well, one of the few pounds I've gained over the weekend are gone. TOM is here with a vengeance and so are the cramps. DANG I hate this TOM!!!!! It seems every month is worse. Time to see a doc I'm sure. At least the heating pads help relieve some of that. I'm going to have to check into that colon cleansing stuff. I think that sounds like a good idea. Sure couldn't hurt right? Well, maybe. I really don't want have to be stuck by a bathroom for a week or even a couple days.
I TRIED so hard to stay OP yesterday. I lapsed and had a LC candy bar. I couldn't help it. It was either that or bite someone's head off. Dang coming off carbs is nasty (add TOM's cravings in there and I wasn't a pretty woman!!). So I've decided that due to wanting to get this weight off I've challenged myself to do more on the June equator trek than I did in May. This ought to be interesting.
Hope you all have a great day!!

jane8760 06-02-2004 08:38 AM

Hey Brenda: I'm with you....we have to work our butts off to get this Memorial Day weight off now. I am actually up 6 FREAKIN POUNDS! How does this happen. *sigh*
Sorry about TOM. Yes maybe you should go see your doc. You seem to be having such trouble lately.

Well I slept a little bit better last night...still got up once around 3am but fell back to sleep thank God. A little slow on the uptake still today but much better. Like I mentioned above I can't believe I am up 6 pounds. How sad is that. I was thinking about it on the way into work today and thought that maybe it is SO high this time is because last week I was really low on calories and I am sure that this past weekend was NOT. Even though it wasn't bad in the carb department.
Now I will have to work hard for two freakin weeks to get this off. Just makes me mad when I have what I call 'wasted' weeks....no real weight loss just losing what I gained. *sign again*

Oh well, no exuses. Just back on the wagon.

Well, hope you all have a good day...not to busy for me so I will check in later.

lady_adnerb 06-02-2004 08:42 AM

Sorry to hear about the weight Jane. I gained Four over the weekend. And I completely understand the disgust at having to re-lose weight. I knew this was going to happen with the way I ate this weekend so I really can't blame it on anyone but myself. It just means no popcorn at the movies Friday and no potato/cole slaw on Sunday during the chicken bbq. DH already commented on it (as he's eating ice cream). ARGH!!! But he knows that I'm going to need support in getting back to where I was. He gained weight over the weekend also, but he knows it'll fly off him faster than me. ARGH!!!

Leenie 06-02-2004 08:55 AM

Good Morning Sweet Ladies SMOOOOCHIES !!!

Okay okay stop this !! no more being sad over a FEW pounds, its time to kick some ROYAL *** !!!!

Look how far you all have come, including myself. This is the part where a set back is NOT supposed to spoil all our efforts, its a MIND game girls, lets win this time huh.

Last year at this time we were all so focused and on a roll (no pun intended  ) lets get that feeling back.

Its summer !!! put on some beach boys and lets go surfin now everybody's learning how, come on a surfari with me................ ;)

Seriously, we need to get rockin here. No more pitty, its time to get PISSED!!!!

We can do it !!

Now hit the floor and give me 50! ;)

I love you all !!!

Mrs H 06-02-2004 08:59 AM

Good Morning Everyone

Brenda: Sorry that TOM has you feeling yucky again!!!! Hope that the cramps go away soon!

Jane: That 6 lbs will be off before you know it!

Well the morning (midnight) sickness is getting less and less...hope it will be gone soon and then I can enjoy this pregnancy! Also, I hope my energy picks up soon. All I wanna do is come home from work in the afternoons and take a nap  That is sooooooo unlike me. I am usually the one with all the energy! Not anymore. It was so hard going back to work yesterday after having the weekend off. The only thing keeping me going right now is knowing that vacation is only 2 1/2 weeks away! Hope everyone has a great day, and I will check back in later!!!!

Lisa

jane8760 06-02-2004 09:00 AM

Geez Leenie....glad you don't work in a psych hospital

Ok, Ok....I'll behave

Mrs H 06-02-2004 09:04 AM

Lennie:  You snuck in on me there! Great Attitude you have there girl! Hope you have a fabulous OP day!

Shimma 06-02-2004 09:21 AM

Morning All!

I'm so far having a fabulous break from work. Looking like mad for a job... gonna apply at the gas station down the street today. They put a sign up yesterday. I would have picked up an application then but I looked like CRAP and the lady there that knows me wasn't working.... so I didn't want to take the chance. At any rate. The BF and I have started induction this week and we are bound and determined to do this right! Ugh. We both got out of control the past month. I'm not stepping on the scale for a couple weeks, I don't want to know... honestly I don't.... and you ALL know what a compulsive weigher I was. Oh well, in time I'll be back down to what I was and then lose some more! Yippee! Oh yeah, I've been a beer drinking fool lately. Ugh, it's like school lets out and I become a lush. We went to see Shrek 2 on Sunday night with one of my BF's friends... after a LOT of beer. I must say, I get the giggles anyway when drunk... I laughed through the ENTIRE thing.... a good ab workout!

Brenda: re: the no cole slaw.... Star posted a recipe for broccoli slaw that is FABULOUS and I'm sure you can do it with cabbage too. YUM. I used to make it all the time. It takes mayo, apple cider vinnegar and some splenda. Fabulous stuff.

Jane: Don't worry about that weight.... it'll come off faster than you think!

Leenie:  Thanks for the pep talk!! Woo hoo!

Lisa: I hope your midnight sickness clears up quickly. I know my sister just got over all that stuff. She's still pretty tired. She was trying to take a night class too and said it was almost impossible to get her homework done since she usually only did that after her daughter was in bed and she had been beating her daughter into bed she was so tired! I know she got less tired eventually the first time around and she's looking forward to it again this time. I can't wait to have another niece or nephew! Her and her husband don't like to find out the sex of the baby before hand... I'm going nuts waiting!!!!!

Ok all, I have a bit of typing to do for my sister so I'm off.

Leenie 06-02-2004 10:08 AM

Hi Rhonda, crossing my fangers for you (job) !!

Hi Lisa, glad your feeling better :D have you picked out names? and are you going to find out if its a girl or boy? I wasn't going to but when I layed on that table during my 5 month sono, I asked :s:

Jane ;)

I have a wonderful recipe for broccoli and bacon salad, OMG is it good. I'll find it.
Brenda no coleslaw ? how come ?

Leenie 06-02-2004 10:19 AM

Theo'sgirl 06-02-2004 10:28 AM

Good morning ladies

Leenie: I love you girl!!! hahahaha Now hit the floor and give me 50!!! hahahahaha

B- I hope TOM lets up soon, you should go to the Dr. you might have fibroids, it causes heavy periods with alot of cramps that get progressively worse. Go get it checked out. The colon cleansing is good so far no extended bathroom breaks, this one says you can do it w/o changing your routine, so I guess that means no extended bathroom breaks! hahaha

Lisa- The morning sickness and triedness will lift near the 3rd month or a little after for most people. Takes alot of energy to make that bambino!

Jane: those pounds will be gone in a minute!! You go girl!

Shimma: good luck with job hunting.

Well, I did pretty good yesterday, I had alot of cravings and allowed myself 2 lc bars just so I could wean off the sweets and it appears to be working, no more cravings so no more lc bars. So today is strict induction from here out. I forgot yesterday was tuesday so I didn't hit the gym like I should have!!! Anywho one of the ds's has a cold so I wouldn't be able to go away, but I could've worked out here, Oh well today is another day!!

have a great day!!

Love TG

StarPrincess 06-02-2004 10:54 AM

Good morning, Lovies!

Brenda - was it at least a Zcarb bar? ;) I have one of those about once a month.

Jane - you're not really up 6 pounds, silly. Changing your eating like that makes you retain water. Drink up and it will be gone in no time.

Leenie - Can we drop a 0? I can give you 5!

Pregnant Lisa - keep the horror coming! ;)

Shimma - Oh, the beer! Lately people have taken to coming over to our house with a case of light beer and hanging out. DH and I recycled on Monday. And the 2 or 3 weeks worth of bottles and such we had amounted to over $10! We had 160 empty beer containers alone! :faint:

TG - When you get cravings, have you tried those little Russell Stover chocolates instead of a whole bar? Also, I tend to not chew chocolate so much as just let it melt in my mouth. Makes a little bit go a whole lot further. Just a thought.

Well, my spring fever may be dying down. I'm feeling much more back to normal. Yesterday, I worked and then spent the evening stripping a kiddie armoir that used to belong to me and my siblings when we were little. OMG - I don't know how old this thing is but there is a crap-load of paint on it! I've gone through 5 layers of paint and am still barely able to see the wood. I think I've given up on chemical stripping and now I'm heading for the power sander! No more messing around!

If the wood is good enough (crossing my fingers here!) I'll be staining it bright red, I think. I did an old stereo cabinent last year and stained it red with blue and yellow accents. It looks awesome!

Anyway, I'm all happy and content now with a project. I love working with my hands. Maybe I'll give up the desk job and go work for a survey crew or a landscaper or something. Doesn't pay as well but I'd be in much better shape! ;)

morti 06-02-2004 10:58 AM

Good Morning Ladies!

Brenda - Definately go see your doc. Really apinful cycles aren't always normal. Might get worse as I get older too. I vote they should just take it out when we don't want anymore kids! Don't need it, why go through it every month? I'll take estrogen every month if I have to.

Lennie - Sir, yes sir!

TG - Hershey LC cahocolate! Love that stuff!

Shimma - Good luck with the job hunting

Lisa - It gets better

Well, actually have thjings to do again today at work, for a while any ways! Not sure if this is good or bad in my business ;) have a good day everyone!

morti 06-02-2004 11:00 AM

Star - You snick in. Don't you just love refinishing furniture? Sence of accomplishment when it's done is so wonderful!

ellisdeekat 06-02-2004 11:01 AM

I just found out I am a fabulous cook. My mom gave me a bunch of low-carb recepies and I tried a few of them yesterday. None of my family is on Atkins... but they loved the food I made! Mom especially loved it because she didn't have to cook or mess up her kitchen- I cooked it all at my place. I have never roasted a chicken before, but it was pretty good, if I do say so myself. Course, I basted it with butter... something my mom would never dream of doing, the health nut she is. I didn't tell her.

I had a horrible carb craving, though. I could barely stand it. I called my friend Andrea in NC, and without even knowing, she talked me out of it by telling me about how well she was doing with her diet (not Atkins) and going to the gym. She doesn't even need to lose weight.

StarPrincess 06-02-2004 11:09 AM

Ellis - try my clam chowder recipe. You'll die a million deaths of happiness, I swear :D

Morti - That's exactly what it is. I love being able to look at something and go 'I did that.' It's actually a very sore point with DH right now because as wonderful as he is, he's also quite possibly the most unmotivated person on the planet. :p

StarPrincess 06-02-2004 11:17 AM

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Mr. Mucus is back in the office! Kill me! Kill me! Kill me! I've got me headphones up all the way and can still hear him. Ack!

jdoggmartin 06-02-2004 11:23 AM

Brenda: Hope you get to feeling better -- that sounds miserable!

Jane: The scale can be very scary! Like Star said, drink lots of water. I had 4 liters yesterday and my scale says I'm back to where I started before the weekend.

Leenie: Love that attitude! Let's go get those pounds! Also, thanks for the broccoli-bacon salad recipe -- that sounds fabulous.

MrsH: Hope you get some more energy soon.

Shimma: Hope you get a job you're after!

TG: I forgot yesterday was Tuesday, too. It sounds like you're doing great so far!

Star: Enjoy your wood project! I'd love to see the finished product!

Morti: I really admire you for your job. (I'll keep saying that over and over and over again because it's something I could never do.)

Ellisdeekat: I was a closet cook, too. Once I started making low-carb dishes, I found out I'm a regular chef, and I love it!

Well, my first induction day went really, really well! I was so happy to make it through one day. When it came time for snacks, though, I couldn't figure out what to eat. I had become seriously addicted to peanuts and almonds, and I couldn't remember any good induction snacks. I finally settled on BBQ pork rinds. This re-induction will be good to remind of all the low-carb foods I'd forgotten.

Oh, and this is a major accomplishment for me! I went to McDonald's yesterday with a friend. I ordered a chicken Cesear salad! This may sound silly, but walking into a McDonald's and seeing and smelling the fries and burgers and not ordering them is huge for me! I didn't even snitch any of my friend's fries. Amazing! I was seriously strong yesterday!

I need to do some shopping. My size 12s are getting big! When I went to a beach cookout on Monday, I finally decided it was time to pull out the shorts. All I had left were two pairs from college. One, I'm not sure what size they were... no tag, but they fit. Another, was a size 10 from American Eagle, and they fit great! I can't believe it. I'm the same size I was in college, but 30 pounds heavier?!?! Does this mean my sizes will keep dropping? That would be exciting!

Well, I hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

Take care,
Jina

jane8760 06-02-2004 11:31 AM

Star: Have you tried using 5F5? That is the stripper that I have always used and it seems to work the best for me. I love refinishing furniture. I hope you are right about the water Star......I am guzzling as I type.

Morti: Good for you but bad for them whoever the poor person is ;)

ellisdeekat: Congrats on becoming such a good cook. Isn't it fun!

TG: Good luck with the cleansing :fr:

Leenie: Could I blanch the broccoli for a second instead of using it raw? Probably but wanted to check.

Rhonda: Hope you get a job soon. Find something fun to do over the summer.

Mrs. H: Glad to hear the sickness is lessening. Take your naps...they are good for you :)

jane8760 06-02-2004 11:34 AM

Jina: ooooooohhhhh new clothes to buy. I loves buying new clothes, really I do. (if no one else is old enough to remember that stupid cartoon character then that just made no sense)

StarPrincess 06-02-2004 11:48 AM

Jane - are you talking about 'I love him raaaaaaaaaally I do'? I love her!

Jina - happy shopping! I'm becoming a serious shopping addict again. I love hanging out in the juniors section without feeling like a total fool :D

rachelearth 06-02-2004 11:51 AM

Good morning.

Brenda, you got the right idea. I was watching GMA this morning and they had a segment to weigh loss. They were talking to, I think, 14 people who had lost weight and kept it off. They said their success was their physical activity. They made sure that they had some kind of activity for at least one hour every day. One said that she breaks it down into two half an hour when she is pressed for time. They also said that the majority of them consider just plain walking as the bulk of their physical activity. So I think by challenging yourself to beat your May equator trek you are going to be very successful this month.

Jane, sorry that you gained 6 pounds, but I think most could be just water gain and hopefully you would be able to get back to your last week’s weight before your next weigh in. Maybe try and drink more water for the next few days. Hopefully with warmer weather we want to drink more water anyway.

Leenie, I like your idea of oldies music. I am going to tune in an oldies radio station and go for a nice one hour long walk at lunch time. The weather is cooperating nicely too, it is sunny.

Lisa, I hope that you feel energized by your vacation.

Rhonda, I too am going to cross my finger for a good fun summer job for you.

TG, I think easing to induction is the way to go. I too tried to ease into it, LOL! I eliminated my nightly Jello dessert in favor of one can of diet lime coke. Now if I can eliminate that today too I will be a happy inductor, LOL!

Star, it is so much fun to give a new life to something old. I have three flower pots that are crying, LOL, to be cleaned and painted. I meant to do it this past weekend, but I was too lazy. I just sit in the sun and read mindless fictions, it was great.

Laura, having things to do at work is a good thing. The feeling of accomplishment at the end of day always makes you feel good, doesn’t it?

Ellis, I too have discovered my passion for cooking since I switched to low carbing. Before this I loved to bake and hated to cook. Now it seems that I love to cook. I’ve got two low carb cookbook a few weeks ago and have been trying two to three new recipes a week. Also good for you on talking to your friend and staying away from carbs. I have read in so many places that when the craving hits we have to try to do something to get our mind off of it. It seems that it is only in our head and if our mind is busy with other things it wouldn’t want to be bothered with a sly thing like carb, LOL.

Jina, way to go for staying away from those fries. I totally agree that this feeling of being in control is priceless. Also congratulations on fitting into your size 10 shorts. You are obviously more tuned and fit now than when you were in college. Being heavier and fitting into the same size is the indication that your body is more muscle now. That is great. Congratulations.

dude, that's awesome.. congrats! I'm not sure if I wuld be able to do that. I would at least have to sneak a fry.

Bunnababy 06-02-2004 12:10 PM

Here is your 50 sarge! Sorry that's how I ended up when I hit the floor.

Sounds like everybody is having a pretty good day.

Lisa, sorry you are still sickly but it will pass.

Karen, are you still sick today.

Rhonda, good luck with the gas station job. That will keep you moving unless the gas prices continue to climb  then no one will be going anywhere. HAHA!!

I am off to do some shopping for the restaurant so will check in later. Oh yeah, I eat the Russell Stover small candies when I cannot take it anymore and they are so good they will curb the craving really well. If you have not tried them I would highly recommend them.

marie. 06-02-2004 12:39 PM

A quick Hi to all the great ladies here!....Star- Mucus? * covers ears* LALALALALALALALALALALALA!!!

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY

jane8760 06-02-2004 01:37 PM

Star: that's her!!!! Raaaaaaally I do!

lady_adnerb 06-02-2004 02:20 PM

OH crud. I can never catch up on days that it's more than 1 page. And if I do I won't have time to do the exercising I want to or go through any other posts. The curse of being online early in the morning and not being able to check here throughout the day.
I'm determined that despite the stupid :censored: cramps I'm going to exercise. I've got to today because tomorrow I have to go and mow lawn (again) and Friday I've got a thingy at the youngest DD's school. So no time on those days (unless I commandeer the tv at night...and THAT'S hard to do). So it's off to read a few more posts and then get to exercising. :)

StarPrincess 06-02-2004 02:24 PM

Brenda - aerobic exercise will help relieve cramps. Get to it, girl!

lady_adnerb 06-02-2004 02:29 PM

I'm going to update my picture first. Keeping the pic of DH and me from Christmas but now showing the one taken on Memorial Day. Wish it showed me as thinner. But someday (and standing that way didn't help. )!!!

This is the exact reason that we have 9 cars and only 2 run, but we won't talk about that. It just makes me so angry since if have something I need to do, I do it and get it over with.

lady_adnerb 06-02-2004 03:56 PM

I don't know what I'd do w/out the WATP tape!! Between that and taebo!! Then again, I'd love to check into doing pilates. But I'm afraid it'd be too hard for me. Time to fly again. Gotta pick up oldest DD.
Only 1 1/2 days of school left :dizzy:

Leenie 06-02-2004 04:25 PM

Hi Girlies

Jane, yes you could blanch the broccoli, don't see why you couldn't.

jane8760 06-02-2004 04:40 PM

Geez, I have been putting out fires all day at work. None of the issues resolved unfortunately.....*humph*

Thanks Leenie: I will give that one a try. My dh keeps laughing at me now that I like broccoli. He keeps asking what veggies we have for dinner and I say "broccoli". He is getting sick of it

Morti: My dh is not a procrastinator about stuff that he needs to do around the house or work etc....but when it comes to emotional or family stuff! Watch out! It could take him forever to make a move.

Brenda: Tell you what...you do your exercises and I will do mine! Shake?

Bunna: I can't bring myself to buy the candy.....I don't have a big sweet tooth so it's not like I would sit and eat the whole bag....it's just that I don't want to start a habit. I have had them though and they are good!

ellisdeekat: I forgot to say welcome this morning. You must have joined in yesterday when I wasn't around. Welcome!

Rachel: The people at work must think I have the smallest bladder because all they do is see me walking down the hallway to the ladies room.....ALL DAY!
I drink so much water lately. It feels good to be this hydrated though I have to admit.

Star: Staying home tonight?

Well it is almost over thank goodness......need to get the heck out of here (work that is :D )

lady_adnerb 06-02-2004 04:41 PM

*shakes hands and makes deal with Jane*
My exercise is done for the day.....how about yours

jane8760 06-02-2004 04:46 PM

Damn! Ok, Ok, I will go home and do my WATP

lady_adnerb 06-02-2004 04:48 PM

hehehehe....that's what I did. The 3 mile one. I did the weights up to the part she said you could put them down unless you were "advanced".

StarPrincess 06-02-2004 06:38 PM

Jane - I've been planning on it. Really, I have. BUT my friend Jeannie called and her kids are going to the movies and she really wants me to go down for a drink with her and I'm such a weak-willed person in these instances SO I might go.

lady_adnerb 06-02-2004 07:03 PM

lol. noooo..not you. You're just such a good friend you can't just let her go by herself!!

jane8760 06-02-2004 07:07 PM

Guilt, guilt, guilt! Works everytime with me... I came home and did my 3 miles. ARE YOU HAPPY BRENDA!

Star: You just give and give and give. "I've been planning on it. Raaaaaally, I have."
