Friday Chat - May 28th
Good Morning :coffee:
BBL ;) |
Good morning Leenie! And everyone to come, of course.
I'm at school early this a.m. frantically writing a section of my thesis that I intended to have done yesterday but of course didn't finish! *stupid procrastination* I got a phone call at midnight last night - I was wondering who was calling me that late, but it was a friend of mine, from undergrad and he's coming to Montreal this weekend and I'm very, very excited because he is so much fun! And absolutely hilarious. Plus three other guys from my undergrad class are coming up with him, so it will be great to catch up with a bunch of them! And the museums are free on Sunday - great! Oh and I totally had a bunch of cherries yesterday, which is probably not ideal considering I was trying to be on induction this week, but I went into the store and just everyone was going after the cherries, so I just had to join in. :) But I did get a lot of OP food and tonight I'm going to go on a bit of a cooking spree and prepare a bunch of stuff beforehand. That's all for now, I must get back to writing.... |
Mornin Leenie
Ok, Ok, Ok....so lowering your calories DOES work! WOOHOO I lost almost 3 pounds this week.....mostly in the last couple of days! Now I admit I am a little more hungry each day than I used to be....will have to watch that, but very excited that I am actually very close to being in the 140's :cb: Please forgive me, anyone who is struggling...I don't mean to brag. This has been a long time coming for me. I am the worlds slowest loser and have been on this woe since September and have only....and I know the word only shouldn't be used here but......lost 25 pounds. Most people lose so much quicker than that. But I will take it!!!!! I don't care how long it takes me as long as I get there. Ok, so now there is a big weekend coming up and I am probably going to be up a little on Monday. But my challenge to myself this weekend is to get some exercise and make the right choices and hope that I will not do too much damage. oh and one more thing............I AM TIRED OF WEARING BAGGY PANTS! There I'm done. |
Lekker you snuck in on me. Good luck today writing. Sounds like you are going to have fun this weekend.
|
Hey Jane, we jumped in there at the same time. 3 lbs this week! That's great! Don't worry about being excited about your weight loss, Jane...I think everyone likes to tell when it's going well. Usually when I get frustrated (i.e. if I feel that I'm not doing as well as others) I just take a couple days off from the boards and then come back feeling a bit refreshed and with a new mind-set. And besides, 3FC is the place for all the good and bad news!
|
Leenie how's it going
Lekker: sounds like you have a lot of fun planned. Enjoy the weekend :) Jane: Congrats on the 3 pounds lost and I hear you on the baggy pants. You can only throw them in the drier to shrink them so many times before THAT wears them out!! I keep waiting for the warmer weather so that I can at least get into shorts that MIGHT fit. Well, the sore throat is FINALLY going away. I'm hoping in a day or two to be declaring myself well. But I'm not going to be on strict induction until Tuesday. I KNOW what's coming my way on Monday. And of course the cake last night didn't help :( I've got zippo will power and I HATE that. Today after work I've DEFINITELY got to mow the lawn. It's (of course) supposed to rain all weekend. And if I don't get it done now it'll look crappy again. Oh, the scale is not my friend. It went up. So I'm 2 away from my end of May goal. I'm not sweating it though. I'm hoping next week to get back into tae-bo and exercising and hopefully that'll drop those pesky pounds off. Well, add TOM coming and that I swear is where the weight's coming from. Why is it I can do well for 2 weeks. Then I gain because of TOM the next 2? That sucks! |
Oops. forgot to mention....Jane you've GOT to brag and feel proud!! We're all in this during the ups and downs. It's always great hearing you all are losing!! Wish I was one of the losers but unfortunately at the moment I'm not. So BRAG ON :)
|
Good Morning Ladies
Lennie: Hope you have a great week-end! Lekker: Good luck on the writing. That sounds like a fun fun weekend you have planned! Hope you have fun at the museums! Jane:    Way to go on losing the 3 lbs. If anyone deserves to brag honey it's definately you!!!! Especially for 3 lbs in one week!!! You are doing fabulous and I am sure you are looking great!!! Have a great weekend! Brenda: I am so glad that you are feeling much better. Those sore throats kill me and glad that you are feeling better. Hope you have a great weekend! Well, I made it throught the blood tests with no problems. I took the advise here and looked the other way. And I didn't even know when she had stuck me. Didn't feel a thing! I can handle this stuff  After the dr's visit, went out with the best friend to dinner, and then we went to see my nephew's promotion ceremony form elementary to high school. That was a bit sad, as it only seems like yesterday when he was just starting school...how fast they grow! Well, got a big weekend planned here. I have to work today and tomorrow, but after work tomorrow it's off to the beach. Hubby has to work all weekend, so me, the best friend, and her 2 girls are gonna go for a girl's weekend! It's been over 10 years since me and her have gone anywhere over night! I am sure we are gonna have a blast! Hope everyone has a great weekend....and I will try to check in later this evening after work! |

MrsH., glad you had a pleasant experience at the Dr. Its really not that bad ;) glad everything is good. Brenda glad your feeling better, and it couldn't have come at a better time, right b/4 our RE-RE-Induction on Tuesday ;) - We're gonna make it after all (okay so I suck at singing and i"m old pffffft). Lekker gee wish when I cheated I would hit the fruit isle instead of the chocolate isle, I give you credit. Meet cha on tuesday (reinduction ;) ) Hugs everyone  |
Hello Chiquitas!!! Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well.
Yesterday I did good and was OP even though I wanted to cheat....still coming off the previous sugar is always rough for a couple days. Had a meditation class last night with our monk and I actually am comfortable siting on the floor now!!! I used to hate to meditate sitting on the floor because I was so uncomfortable, so that was a plus!!! Jane!!! EXCELLENT JOB!!!!:) B- you go girl on the lawn then come over to my house it is about a foot tall right now!! LOL Leenie Heelloooooo!!!! Mrs H - have a great weekend!!! Lekker: Sounds like so much fun, give us all the funny details after!! :) Have a great day!!! :) :) :) |
Good Morning Leenie.
Lekker, I know what you mean about cherries. Fruits are so tempting this time of the year and I too haven’t been able to say no, LOL. I got strawberries and peaches last night and they are so delicious. Now that I am limiting my fruits, I think I am enjoying them a lot more. You know what I do now, LOL, before eating my fruits these days I first smell them, LOL, it is like if I use all my senses I feel like I had more than what I actually had, LOL. And have fun with your undergrad bodies. Friends from high school and undergrad are the best. Jane, congratulations on losing more weight. That is so great. Go on, brag, please, you earned it. I haven’t lost any weight in the past four days, but when I read that you have lost, I am hopeful that my lost will come around one of these days too. And I should just hang in there, like you did. That is the best thing about sharing your success, giving hope that it will work for the rest of us as well. Also I think if you continue like this, you will get used to eating this many calories, and wouldn’t feel hungry. But I think if you continue to feel hungry after a few days, maybe you should consider increasing your calories a bit. Just like Leenie said, increase your calories, while keeping your carb still low. I think we really shouldn’t be hungry in this WOE. Brenda, I hope that you completely get yourself rid of your cold/sore throat by tomorrow, so you can enjoy your weekend. I am crossing my fingers for the both of us to get some good weather. I want so much to sit in the sun and enjoy my looooooooong weekend. Lisa, I am glad the blood test went well. I was thinking about you last night, LOL. I was reading Dana Carpenter’s, “I gave up my low-fat diet and lost 40 pounds” (I think that is close enough to the actual title, LOL.) Anyhow, she claims that one of the side effect of high carbohydrate/low fat diet is difficulty conceiving. I remembered reading that you and your husband hadn’t planned this pregnancy and that your family was very surprised by it. So if her claim is actually true, then you ladies, who are involved in a relationship and are not planning to add little new family members, be careful, very careful actually, since this WOE has made your bodies clean and ready for some big adventures, LOL. Have great weekend everyone. |
Rachel, it is true I did atkins prior to both of my pregnancies for like a month cause I was pregnant within a month each time. I would loose like 15-20 pounds and then BOOOM pregnant! My doctor said it is because fat stores estrogen, if the estrogen level is to high you have trouble getting pregnant, but if you lose weight the estrogen gets released and cleared out you have no problem. So if you are loosing weight be careful you might get more than you bargained for!! :) LOL!!!

Good Morning Ladies!
Rachel - TG - Sugar is my down fall too. Gotten better at just staying away from it, it's so hard since I grew up on icecream and home baked pastries. Jane - 3 Lbs! :cb: :cb: :cb: Brag all you want, you deserve it. Lennie - I try to do alternate between calories and carbs when I need variety also. Brenda - Glad to hear you're feeling beter for the weekend. Lisa - See, we told you so! Enjoy your weekend. Lekker - Have fun! Yeah! TGIF! I'm ready. Having friends over this weekend and going to a concert for Grubstakes Days. It's a local celebration for our area just to honor the folks who found the town. Will stay away from the carnival though, everything crawls out from under the rocks for that. Going to be a shopping weekend also, gotta love that! |
Hello, wonderful ladies!
Leenie: Good luck with your re-induction! Lekker: What about the Lightning?!?! WOO-HOO! I decided that it is a good thing that you're always cheering against them -- it seems to work in their favor! :D Have a great time with your friends this weekend, and cheer for the Flames on Saturday! Jane: CONGRATS!! You SO deserve to be happy and excited about your loss! I'm not the fastest loser, either, and you really inspire me. No matter how slow the weight comes off or if you go off plan, you're still sticking it out! That is such an inspiration! WAY TO GO, JANE!! :cb: :cb: :cb: Brenda: Glad you are feeling better. I'm with you -- sometimes it seems like losing-gaining weight is a never-ending cycle. I'll lose a few pounds, then here comes TOM, and they're back. Then they're off once TOM is over, and then the cycle starts again. MrsH: Have fun on your girls' weekend! That sounds like such a good time. I'm glad your tests went well. TG: Great job on staying OP yesterday. It's such a big accomplishment when you really want to cheat, but stay OP. Way to go! Rachel: I love it that you fully enjoy your fruits now! I can picture you feeling them, smelling them, tasting them, savoring them! Yesterday afternoon was another baseball game for me. It was a lot of fun! Yesterday evening, I went out with some friends to Starbucks. That was my first time in a Starbucks, and I could handle not going back. I'm not really into the whole coffehouse scene. I just don't think I'm a Starbucks-caliber person. Eating and exercising has still be going surprisingly well (except for a few too many Michelob Ultras last night :o ). I won't weigh-in until June 7, so I hope to have a good loss by then. This weekend it's more baseball games -- go figure! -- and a trip to the beach for sure on Monday, and maybe Sunday, too. I'm not sure my fair skin can handle two days at the beach, though. A group of us are going on Monday for the day. I'm sure everyone will be going on Monday! I hope everyone has a great weekend!! Take care, Jina |
Morti: Have a great weekend! Have fun at the concert! LOL @ everything crawling out from under the rocks for the carnival.
|
Morti: I love local celebrations. We have one in the town I grew up in every September. It is so much fun to walk around and see everyone and check out the businesses in town. My mom runs a booth for her woman's club.
Rachel: You will lose too. I am proof that it can be done! "Hanging in there" on this WOE has been the easiest thing to do. I flop sometimes but I just get back on it and lose eventually. I may be slow but I am slow and skinny now! TG: I wish I could meditate.....I just can't ever quiet my head down. Can't be done. I am such a type A it isn't funny. I'm sure it would do me good to meditate. Congrats on being able to sit on the floor :) Mrs H: See we knew you could do it! Have fun on your "girls" weekend. Brenda: Pants are headed to the dryer this weekend as a matter of fact! One pair I am going to try and take in....another pair I will have to do again. My jeans though are baggy and don't feel like buying new ones yet....especially with the warmer weather and all. Glad you are feeling better. Don't do too much. Sorry about the scale not behaving. You will lose it next week I know. |
Jina: Sounds like a great weekend plan for you. I wish I was going to the beach. I am fair too so I can appreciate your worry.....my husband tells everyone I am the whitest girl he has ever seen. I use a self tanner in the summer to give me a "beige" color
I'm with you on the Starbucks thing......always picture gus in beret's and dark glasses spouting poetry when I think of coffee houses. |
Wa-hooooooooooo! It's Friday! :cb:
Leenie - Good morning! :coffee: Lekker - I love cherries! Actually, most fruit is relatively low in carbs once you get out of induction. Sounds like you're going to have a good weekend! Have fun! Jane - Yeah, baby, yeah, baby, yeah! That's awesome! I didn't lose any weight this week, but my waist is magically down to 26 inches as of today. :D Brenda - I'm glad you're feeling better! Mrs H - See? You did just fine! ;) Have a fun girl's weekend! TG - Isn't it funny the things that we notice changing? I still love that I can cross my legs now. It just tickles me to no end :D Rachel and Morti - Jina - I wish I was less of a Starbucks-type girl! I've got a little addiction to SF Vanilla Breve's. BUT I'm fully aware of the carb count! ;) Ok, you guys, I'm totally weak. My friend Jeannie called me yesterday and just said "I need a drink. Meet me at the bar." So being the good friend I am, I went and just ordered a water. She told me no way in **** was I getting away with that crap and made me get a drink. Which turned into 4. Plus a beer. Argh! I suck! On the plus side, the girl that was starting all the rumors and crap about me was working at the bar last night. She sat down with me when I was alone and totally apologized for - and I'm quoting here - 'being a complete dumb ***'. I was floored! Turns out that my shooting buddy came in during the week and gave her a serious talking-to. She happens to adore and respect him as much as I do, so when he came in and told her to pull her head out of her butt and knock it off, she listened. Funny how things work out! :D :D :D |
Quote:
Brenda - I've been feeling funny in the back of my throat too ... glad your's is going away though. MrsH - have a great time at the beach with the girls! Leenie - yeah, I never feel *too* guilty about cheating in the produce section Theo - ooh...meditation...do you do that regularly? Rachel - thanks, I will have fun...my friends from undergrad are *completely* different from my friends from high school, so it's a nice mix to have. morti - have fun at the concert Quote:
|
Star: ooooohhhh a 26" waist. One can onlyl dream :^:
Glad to hear that that girl apologized. Maybe you will turn out to be friends? |
I doubt we'll ever be friends, but at least we can all play nice now. ;)
Where'd everyone go? I hate it when everyone goes away as soon as I post. :( |
I know! It is quiet......maybe everyone is leaving early today...wish I was.
Fairy tails can come true, it can happen to you........... |
When you're young at hearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt!
It's only 10:30 here and I'm so ready to just cut out. I've got plenty of work to do. Just don't want to do it. :p |
Quote:
Lekker: I try to do it everyday if at least for 10 minutes at home, it gets hard with 2 little kids, but when our monk is here from India we practice it and we have regular teachings so it is way easier to do since the kids are at the sitter. Jane: I am so type A too it took alot for me to learn to meditate, I have a real hard time settling down!! I am usually a crazy woman! hahahaha  |
I have stuff to do also but REALLY want to go home! I am even thinking of staying in tonight and letting hubby go out by himself. I have some projects that I want to get done so that I am not stuck inside tomorrow doing them.
|
I'm seriously considering bailing out at noon and working on the kiddie armoir that I'm refinishing.
Jane - you're the only one talking to me today! |
Hey Star - It's 10:45, you still at work? LOL!!
It's 10:45 here, too, and I have so much to get done before my vacation next week but I don't feel like doing ANYTHING!!! I am such a slacker sometimes. Glad to hear the gal at the bar confessed to being a dumbass!! Hey, today I have to brag. Today is my grandparents' 66th wedding anniversary!! :goodvibes We are all taking them out to dinner tonight - I doubt they will make it to 67, though, because my grandpa has been in rapidly failing health the past few months. He will be 90 in two weeks. Amazing. :sunny: :cheer: I will probably leave early today myself. My boss always lets us go at 3:00 the Friday before a holiday. :D I plan to get a LOT of work done this week at home. If I get my computer hooked up, I will let you know from home. |
I don't have time for personals. The lawnmower is calling my name. Challenging me to stay in the seat  Add to that it's supposed to rain ALL weekend and I want to enjoy the sunshine while I can. We're going to be down one DD tonight so that should be interesting. I want to go the computer store. I need to take the Ethernet Hub back and get a router. What's that you say? Good question. I'm just repeating what the cable dude told me to do. He's the one that's going to be nice enough to network our two (one for the girls and one is mine) computers to the internet. So in saying that I best dash to see if there's other threads I need to read and then go answer the challenge. :) You all have a great weekend.
|
Lisa's talking to me, too! :goodvibes
I normally leave at 3:00, so noon would be good for me. That's awesome about your grandparents! I can't remember how long mine were married when the respective husbands died. Hee hee - just called my mommy. One set was married for 67 years and the other was married 57. |
Star: Glad the girl apologized. At least it didn't go on any longer than it did. I guess she's somewhat mature if she apologized?!?
Lekker: "Too artsy" is a good way to put it. That's definitely not me. Plus, the choices are overwhelming! I just went with water. Jane: I am SO white, too. I use sunless tanners occassionally, too, so I don't blind anyone! I wear SPF 50 out, and I'll still burn. :( Lisa: Hope you're able to make some progress on your house this weekend. Have fun with your grandparents -- that's incredible!! |
Jina - I don't think it's maturity. I think it's more about someone she really cares about jumping on her over it. Either way - I'm glad it's over with (hopefully) ;)
|
Drats! And here I was going to say something funny about no one talking to Star and then you all jump in!!!!!!!!
Sometimes when I think about how long people are married for I get sad. My husband is 15 years older than me so I know we won't get to a 50 wedding anniversary. He is 59 now................ok before you try to do the math.......I am 43 soon to be 44. |
Ooo, I would love to be able to leave at 3 every day. On my timecard it says I work 7-5, but in reality it is usually 8-5 with no lunch break - I just can't get here by 7am... at least not yet. So, I leave at 5 but get every other Friday off. THAT is nice.
Yeah, I'm pretty proud of them. I hope they can make it to 67 next year, but I am doubtful, unfortunately. My grandpa has been the patriarch for so long that it won't be the same without him around. I'm fortunate to have had him in my life for 33 years as it is. My Grandma, his wife, will be 88 in the fall. She is in good health, still has brown hair and all her teeth. Ornery Swedish Genes, I guess. I don't know what she'd look like with grey hair!! She will outlive us all, I'm sure of it. Her grandmother lived to 103 - but my genes have been diluted with the not so stubborn scottish/english genes that have a tendency towards cancer, strokes and obesity - so I probably won't make it to 100 unless I do something drastic like Atkins. LOL!! |
Jane, don't be sad. Really.
I doubt my dh and I will make it to 50 years, too, only because we married later when I was 27, he was 26. Odds are not in our favor that either of us will live that long - but then consider this, the odds to making it 50 years are not in ANYONE'S favor. So you might be surprised. As much as I complain about my dh lately, I won't divorce him unless he cheats or beats. Being a dumbass at times is just part of the package and not a divorceable offense. There was a couple on the news a couple of years ago here in Washington I think that had just celebrated their 75th anniversary. They had married young and both were extremely old... but they did it. I wonder if being married to that person that long becomes a "habit." ;) |
Jane: Me, too! When DH and I first got married, we we thinking about how many anniversaries we would have together since we were so young (20 and 21). Now, who knows what will happen? I love hearing about people that have been married for so many years, but at the same time, I'm jealous. I hope that isn't a terrible thing to feel...
|
HA HA HA Jane!
I knew that if I whined enough somebody was bound to take pity on me! :D |
My parents have been married for 37 years and let me tell you, it's cool and it's weird.
I can't imagine what it's like to have spent more of your life with someone than without them. I hope I get to find out, though. I like this husband! |
That's how I feel about mine, too, Star.
I was thinking about this myself recently. I was with my psycho ex-bf for 8 years (off and on) and Sunday is my dh's and my 6th anniversary and 7th being together. One more year and I'll have the ex's time beat. What an odd thought. I have to admit to wondering more often than not what ex-bf is doing and how he is doing. I remember the good times and not the psycho stalker he became when I broke it off and married Joey. But, then I have to let it go and know that I am better off with my wonderful PTSD dh than the psycho control-freak stalker I could be with. LOL!! |
You see! There is always a silver lining!
|
That's so funny you'd say that, Lisa. I have an ex-boyfriend that I still wonder about from time to time. He was a wonderful guy, but I broke things off when I went to college and when I came back a year later, he'd gotten a girl pregnant and married her. By the time they got divorced (she didn't want anything to do with her own kid), I was married to my ex-husband. The timing just didn't work out otherwise I would have married him.
Anyway, I had a dream about him last night! Nothing naughty. Just that I saw him again - big happy reunion and all that. It was strange. |
