Everyones gotta get on the bandwagon I guess, even if they don't research before they do it, I wonder do they even know that is as many carbs as we get to eat in 1 whole day!!!

I don't think that should be considered "low carb". To me, reduced carb is a better term for it but than again I think low carb should be 15 grams max or under.

They are banking on the idiots that never read the book or really follow the plan to buy that crap. The poopy thing is that those people ultimately fail on this WOE and then they blame Atkins and that gives it a bad name. THey say OH well I was eating LC the whole time, Yeah so called LC at Sonic!

Soooooooo true! Irritating isn't it! But what are you going to do. All we can do is keep making our informed choices, knowing it works for us and prove the naysayers wrong. I just wish the FDA would hurry up and regulate the LC industry. It will make things so much easier!

You know, there was an article on low carb a while back....maybe on WebMD? Anyway, there was a study done of what people doing "low carb" eat and they found that something like 90% of people who claim to be eating low carb consume between 150 and 250 grams of carbs per day!

Woah, Star, you're kidding me, that's insane.

I think one thing that we need to remember is that the wrap could be considered low carb because it's under 20. People on lifetime maintenance would be able to eat it no problem. The Atkins book says you can start adding carbs in 5 per week right after induction. So, if I figure 60 carbs as my lifetime maintenance then that would be about 20 per meal. That wrap would be perfect. And we all also have to realize that there are a LOT of people out there who have already lost their weight on Atkins and are on maintenance... I bet they're overjoyed.

Just looking at the opposite side of the coin is all.

I agree, Rhonda, and Atkins is only one of many "Controlled Carb" diets and WOE out there.

18 carbs, for a diabetic, would be 1 unit (plus 3) and would be well within their limits for a meal or snack, even.

So, looking at this with an Atkins bias doesn't really show the whole picture. The fact that they list the carbs AT ALL is still progess.

THat is why we were saying that something that is 20 carbs for 1 item should be called something like "reduced carb" when naming these products they need to make the difference between something you can eat in the beginning and something on maintenance. THe difference needs to be made so that the people maybe not as educated as us have a fighting chance at figuring it out instead of just failing.

I agree TG. I just wish there were some categories to define exactly what is what. I know not everyone does it the Atkins way, or that everyone is on a lower carb allowance, but don't scream all over the tv how low the carbs are and how great it is (w/o showing the actual carb count mind you) just for me to get there and find out I can't have it!
