Hi all, I'm wanting to get some protein powder for smoothies and shakes. I have only tried a couple brands but so far the taste is aweful! Any ones out there that actually taste good??

I'm not vegan, but I hated all the chemical rubbish in most protein powders. A friend introduced me to one which I love. Nuzest clean lean protein. The vanilla and chocolate are great, as are the greens. I haven't tried the coffee one as I don't like coffee.

Not sure if it's sold in the US but I'm sure if you googled it you could find out.

I LOVE unflavored, unsweetened, undenatured whey protein isolate. I buy mine from a local cheesemaker, but there are commercial brands as well. Syntrax Nectar medical is one such brand, but there are many others as well.

Undenatured simply means that the whey protein was not processed under high heat (which denatures or breaks down the proteins). It can be a little confusing to identify these prodducts because it's not always clear in the product names or descriptions. Micro-filtered, cold-filtered, or cold-processed, are some of the terms that might be used.

Unflavored, undenatured whey protein powders tend to be a bit more expensive (unless you can get them from a local dairy), but are so much more versatile. The flavor is mild and the powder dissolves easily and completely, leaving no lumps or chalky texture. You can even dissolve it in warm liquids such as broth or sugar free hot cocoa. If the liquid is too hot, the proteins will begin to clump.

I usually make a smoothie by adding the powder to almond milk or coconut milk and frozen berries in my personal blender (a Magic Bullet knockoff), but in a pinch I'll just stir it into a glass of water or almond milk and add a powdered sugarfree drink mix or a splash of DaVinci flavored syrup.
