Default No carb (under 20g)

Good Afternoon!
I started a no carb (under 20g) a day about three months ago, I am down 62.5. I am stalling, or slowly crawling, and its getting frustrating.

any suggestions? I have cut out diet soda and trying to drink as much water as possible.

Congrats on the weight loss! Give your body a chance to take a rest and adjst to the new low weight. Stalling is a part of the process. Don't let frustrations get to you, notice how wonderful you feel and keep it going!

I'm sorry to correct you but, under 20 carbs per day is not no carb....it is low carb. Looking at your stats, your beginning weight was 417 and in approximately 3 months you've lost 62½ lbs. While people who are heavier tend to lose quickly, particularly in the beginning....62½ lbs in 3 months time is nothing to shake a stick at! Mysleepingdragon is absolutely correct, stalling is part of the weight loss process and your body needs time to adjust. While it is indeed frustrating, it is to be expected. Focusing on changing your eating habits and making low carb a lifestyle change instead of a diet, is the key to success.
All the best to you!!

I don't see an average weight loss of 20 lbs a month as something to be frustrated at, that is a fantastic accomplishment.

It's understandable. You must be putting a ton of effort into this to lose at that rate, I can certainly see wanting to see it happen faster. I wish I had your willpower. I can only go low carb for about a month at a go, myself, before I lose willpower.

You know i never thought i would be able to do it, but once i saw how my body reacted i realized that it wasnt about what i wanted but about my body could process. After talking to my dr he said that he believes my body is just very carb sensitive, he told me to read why we get fat and follow that diet. i am not following it to a "T" but and using his food suggestions as a guide. Its been hard, there are day that i want to swim in a vat of icecream! or my Cheeto Puff and Pina Colada cravings!! I do however smell all my husbands food lol..

Hahaha! I am the same way. I'm doing low-carb right now and last night for his dinner my DH made side dishes of mash potatoes and corn and oh was I eyeballing that and wishing I could have some.

I will have to check out "Why we get fat"- maybe that will help me.

Thanks!

Its kinda drove home some good points, such as carbs drive insulin and insulin drives fat, it went throught basically during time of food struggles (great depression and such) obesity raised based on that carbs are cheaper to feed then fresh food and meat. it was interesting. Its By Gary Taubs.

a week, I feel like I am. I think on an average i am probablly getting 10g a day or so, depending on what I eat. Last week i gain .2lbs i lost a total of 8lbs last month (from my 29 the first and 22 the second) this is slow to me.

I am low carb, lower than my husband. What I do as a suggestion is prepare traditional dinners, such as meat, veggie or salad and potatoes for him. This way I always have food to eat and he has his beloved potatoes. I steer clear of combination meals. If I make a pizza or pasta dish for him, I set aside the low carb ingredients and have that for myself, baked up in an individual ramekin.

Congrats on your fantastic weight loss, but please, don't let the slow down period get to you, it truly is a part of the process and will fluctuate.

Congrats on the amazing progress - you're an inspiration!! When I stall, occasionally increasing my fat has helped "unstick" things a bit. And it kind of goes hand in hand with treating myself to something considered *very naughty* on a low fat diet and something my other non-LC dieting friends would swoon over being allowed to eat. It is a mini-motivator that helps remind me why LC is the right choice for me and how much happier and less restricted I feel than I ever felt on my many failed attempts at WW.

Another low carb book to look into is the Metabolism Miracle. It also discusses the issue with insulin and people having different metabolisms and processing carbs differently. I have only just completed day 4, but it really isn't bad. Let me know if you are interested because I can tell you more about it. You are definitely on the right track and it is frustrating, but you have lost so much already your body does in fact need time to adjust. Best of luck!

Take your measurements. When I first started I was at about 5 grams per day and lost 99 lbs in 6 months, then I didn't lose anything for almost 6 more months, but I lost over 3 sizes while I was stalled.

You are doing great!
