hi! i am not on a strictly low carb diet, however oveer the past few days i realized that i have eaten very few carbs, mostly egg whites and lean meats. also in the past few days i have started to feel really dazed and confused, it kind of feels like my brain is running on slow motion and i have no energy (it doesn't feel like i need to sleep just that i am really out of it). just to let you know, i usually eat a heaping bowl of oatmeal and pasta each day at least on my normal diet. i thought about my diet and thought that the reduction in carbs could be the problem. has anyone experienced anything like this/
I have heard of this issue with Low Carb Diets, however I didn't experience it myself.
Low Carb is really effective at dropping pounds, it might not be right for you since you have been consuming quite a few carbs... Maybe try easing into it? and reduce your carb intake gradually? I know Atkins doesn't say to do that.
Absolutely can happen. I agree with skullarix- don't go straight to induction- ease your carbs down and then move to induction or never go to induction depending on how you feel. I can tell when my body really needs a dose of carbs vs just me wanting carbs (which I never crave now). When that happens I respond to my body and eat carbs- but good carbs ie 1/2 fiber 1 bar and i wait and see how I feel. I always feel better. This does not happen very often - ie once every 4-6 weeks.
Umm, actually...if she's not eating carbs at all other than egg whites, that there is the problem.
In every low carb diet I've read about, they all have similar Induction phases to Atkins, and Atkins Induction is NOT no carb.
I cannot stress this enough....
Please read the book completely for the low carb diet you are attempting before you begin the plan. If it is like Atkins your Induction phase should limit you to 20 carbs per day, with 12-15 of those from leafy green vegetables.
And stay away from 'low carb' shakes, bars, etc. They are not good for induction -at all-.
