Talking Luscious Low Carb Chat! 8/11-8/17

Hi Ho Chatters! It's the start of another August Week . . . summer has flown by, hasn't it?

The Rams officially suck . . . but did have a great visit with Bro & SIL at the Bar - saw some old friends too. Gonna be a loooong azz season if that game was any indication.

Saw that you pulled something in your knee snappie . . . have no advice other than to get checked and be careful. Good on ya with the small slice of cake - mindset is always the problem for me when I "go there" - like, oh I've had a tiny slice -so why not eat the whole cake" cycle.

Think I've got two weeks until the official w/i at work . . . kicking it up a notch this week . . . join me anyone?

Hi Aud, nice to see you. I'll probably get serious again after Labor Day when I'll make DH join me OP. Until then, I'm pretendng it's still summer. School starts a week from today so this is basically the last week of summer which is very, very depressing. Once school starts we get out of the lake mindset and start thinking about cross country meets and work stuff. I hate the end of summer!!!

Snappie, sorry to hear about your knee. I hope it's something that can be easily and quickly cured! And I think three slices of light cake a year is completely acceptable!

We had a rainy weekend which was (almost) a nice change. I got more housework done than usual and did some cooking. We actually had a family dinner on Sunday with all three kids-that's unusual lately! We went from really really hot, to kind of cool. We went down to the lake for a swim on Sunday and had to wrap up in towels when we got out. Felt strange to be cold! We also gave the A.C. a break which I always like. You can hear all kinds of strange noises when you sleep with the windows open.

I got to the gym today - first time in four days. I finally got over my mysterious upset stomach on Saturday. I don't usually stay sick that long...

Hello to everyone checking in later!

Hi Lovlies!!! Feeling virtuous like you Lynnie. I cleaned out the closets and filled 9 hefty bags with donation clothes and shoes over the weekend. Then organized my closet by color. I rock!!!!

Went to Elephant Bar for dinner last night. Had the famous iceberg wedge salad (yum...even better when you don't make it yourself). DD and DH had fun food. Wanted to grab a big spoonful of Dh's rice but I restrained myself. Did treat myself to a glass of chardonnay.

Here is to a terrific week!!!

We had some rain too lynnster and then a cool down - it's still kind of humid but the highs are like 80 & 81 in the 5 day forecast here in the usually sweltering Miss-eri and the lows are like 61 & 62! Thank you Weather Gods from the bottom of my menopausal heart!

Had a Great OP day for a change . . . I think the Rams induced alcohol poisoning I suffered Sunday Morning has changed my outlook on life?

LOVED your wedgie salad recipe a few days ago scalmster, been going plain with olive oil & salt n peppa most days . . . need to change it up on the weekends . . . a nice BudLight replacement perhaps?

Where ya at lilyB & snapster?

Aud, I'll join you on that challenge if you like. I'm at (today) 165 lbs., but my personal official weigh day is the 15th, and my last official weigh day I weighed in at 167 lbs. Tell me when you want to start and if you want me to weigh that particular day (probably should, huh?).

Lynn, have you had your AC cleaned? Usually that's all it needs is some tender luvncare. I know in the south especially those stupid cottonwood and dogwood trees shed and clog the systems up bad.

SC: fftopic: Just have to tell you those were my initials for the first 35 years of my life as my ex's last name started with C also...strange the things we all have in common.

Good on you for meeting your craving head-on and telling it who's in charge!

As for me, well my knee is better. It started hurting Sat, I wrapped it Sun, woke up Mon and it felt a lot better. By this morning (Tue) it didn't hurt at all. Still not sure what I did but glad it's gone.

Fixed my desktop computer, bought a new video card (much better one)...and it turned out to be my monitor not the card...so I got a new (bigger) monitor and new (better) vid card out of it...and DD5 got my (not so) old vid card which was an upgrade for her also. It all worked out.

Couldn't figure out what was wrong with my camera so I bought a new one today. Just took new 'update' photos of me at my current (165 lbs.) weight and am about to post them on my blog. They are only 6 days late .

It's been hot (mid 80s and humid) all week, thankfully I live off base and have AC. My exercise buddy came over for lunch today, made shrimp cocktail (homemade cocktail sauce) and salad for lunch. Tomorrow have more company coming over. Everyone wants to come visit at my place during the hottest part of summer because all those people on base have no AC. I don't mind feeding my friends, it's better than visiting them in their sweltering housing units.

Hope you are all having a wonderful week!

Good morning!
Isn't it strange the things that sabotage you? I went home yesterday with my OP dinner all planned and ready to stir fry and I found a Kringle (pastry) on the counter. DH's friend brings them from a Danish bakery up north every once in a while. Strangely, I've never been a sweets person, but the kringles have this flaky crust and a soft, sweet filling. So I thought I'd try one bite. Unfortunately it turned into one bite every time I walked through the kitchen! What is my problem????
Oh well, we'll try try again today.
Snappie, air conditioning and shrimp cocktail - no wonder you have company. If only you were a little closer - I'd stop by.
Calmie, Wish I had gotten to my closets! I'm actually supposed to be collecting for a fundraiser garage sale for DD's cross country team. I made it through the garage, but never got to the closets! I don't know what I'd donate though. I'm wearing the fat clothes and still hoping to get into the slightly less fat clothes!
Aud, we must live in the same weather pattern. We're looking forward to unusually cool weather too. We're still sleeping without the AC, but the humidity gets bad. Today the smoke alarm went off when we took showers because of the humidity. I think the AC will go back on today.
Hi to Lily and Fay because I know they'll stop by to visit soon!

Ok if I sneak in here? I haven't bothered to post an "Atkins Angels" chat thread because it seems to slowly be fading by the wayside.

Hope all is going well with everyone. Weather here is improving...it sure has been a hot, humid Summer. I'm looking forward to Fall

Hope you all have a great day!

Hi Kim, I've wondered why we needed two chat threads. Why not just be the LC Lolita-angels? The more the merrier!

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it

The separate thread was started when we were having difficulties with a particular person here who has since been banned from 3FC. But, if I'm welcomed here, there no longer seems to be a need for it

Hiya All! and a Big Boy-Howdy-Doo Welcome to Our jg!

Hadn't seen the Angels in awhile and thought it was a summer vacay hiatus type thing - haven't even had the type to surf around Atkins-Land at all, altho' I hope to this weekend - I am so in agreement on the more the merrier here in LC Chat-Land tho'!

Way to not beat your kringle self up lynnie!

I know that the 1st w/i was at 5 weeks snappie - I'll find out for sure when that is tonight - seemed to have slipped whats left of my mind!

Is the Elephant Bar only on the West Coast scalmie? Haven't heard of here in MO. I'm in lettuce mode again today - taking tuna with it - no time to hard boil the egss tho' dangit.

Work is NUTS and I am late yet again . . . cya in the WEE gals!

Another OP day under my expansive belt and already feeling the energy surge . . . worked 11 hours and prolly walked 11 miles (note to self: get a new pedometer that you can work the controls/measure stride) . . . did so good when I made sure I walked at least 10,000 steps - usually between there and 30,000 on OT hours.

Haven't even had the urge to splurge - keeping myself full has helped any notion of being deprived . . . delicious mushroomy omelette with cheese for breaky . . . . and ate the other half of it for a hot snack then two turkey burgers with broccoli & cheese for lunch and supper. Ate about a cup of salad just now - still plain with olive oil with s&p.

See a lot of new folks on the forum - hope they know they can jump right in here and chat?

I've been hoping to see some newbies here in LC chat too. Maybe we should post an invite somewhere?..?

Aud, when you talk about energy from being OP it makes me totally regret things like Monday's kringle tasting. I really need to get more serious just so I feel better. But summer keeps side tracking me.

Went out to dinner last night with oldest DD. I still get to see her once or twice a week, but we have to work at it. She'll have two jobs when the school year gets underway, so it'll be even harder to fit in family time. And it always seems to include food and I hate that! I tried really hard to get her to join a Yoga class with me, but she joined a different gym with one of her 20-something friends and they go to spinning classes. Yoga with mom at the city gym or spinning with a friend at an (expensive) private gym? I guess I understand...

I missed the gym yesterday for work, but got there today. 20 mins on the eliptical, a small circuit of the arm machines (very light weights) and a bunch of crunches and stretches. It feels pretty good! I'm supposed to be working my way up to 30 mins cardio, heavier weights on the machines and even more crunches, but I keep back sliding! But at least I get there most of the time.

I'm rolling out & rolling onto the floor for some crunches - could only do 20 Monday - and barely made 10 pu's - tryingto make it a habit again - just not making it to the gym at all.

My DD & i did yoga together while she was in high school -both loved but alas she is also now involved in work/new friends etc too lynnie. So healthy & well adjusted - but I'm still sad. We laughed a lot in the classes together - especially me trying to hold some of the poses - great memory here over coffee - glad you brought it up.

I have no time to do ANYTHING right now - yoga or otherwise (plus she'sworking most weekends) . . . so just trying to stay OP best I can and do some purposeful walking.

My teammates aren't sure when our w/i is snappie . . . don't think that's a good sign for our team? We think its two weeks away - I went ahead and weighed last nite on the Medical Dept scale - so far haven't lost (OR gained!)

Long nite ahead and then have to be at work tomorrow for a MORNING meeting (ACK) so should be total toast and may not cya LC'ers til late Thrs nite.

Have A Great Hump Day AND Thrs All!
