This is something I've been thinking about in the last few weeks.
I have a lot of holidays coming up in the next few months - I'm out of town for at least a few days every month from now until July. Most of these trips will be to see my (long distance) boyfriend, and that presents an issue because he insists on eating out EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Sometimes multiple times in one day. He's not overweight, and comes from a family where they consider it normal to eat out this much (no one in his family cooks). Some of the places they choose to go simply have zero healthy options, and most are locally owned and have no nutrition information available.
I'm really afraid of going and coming back to find I've gained 15 lbs worth of water weight and fat from all the salty restaurant/fast food, but I'm not sure how to avoid it besides ordering a garden salad everywhere we go. And I'm on vacation, it's hard to limit myself to bowls of lettuce for two meals a day because that's all I can count on being less than 1000 calories per meal.
Sorry I didn't have any suggestions to add on how to deal with it, but this is something I have struggled with and will likely continue to struggle with
