Default coffee question?

I have a question about coffee. Does it have any carbs in it? I miss my chocolate coffee bombs and lattes. I have found some chocolate sauce with zero carbs and was going to try to make something simular to the coffee drinks I miss. I am not looking for something everyday, due to caffine and the chocolate sauce, but maybe something as a morning treat once in awhile. Thanks for your help. Dawn

Dawn!!

To answer your question, 8 oz. brewed coffee contains 0.7 carbs. Sounds like you're already aware of the possible effects caffeine can have on weight loss (blood sugar spikes)....so, not having this everyday is a very wise choice.

As for this 0 carb chocolate sauce....is it Walden Farms? The reason I'm asking is because I'd be pretty leery of any chocolate sauce that claims to be 0 carbs. You would be much better off with something like DaVinci's sugar-free (Splenda sweetened) chocolate syrup and some heavy cream...both of which are Atkins friendly

Dawn-I'm a coffee freak so here is what I do even if it is not what I should do. I make a real latte everyday. I've tried a variety of sugar free chocolate syrups and believe it or not, I think the Walmart brand is the best one I've tried. I also have a variety of the above mentioned Davinci Gourmet syrups in the sugar free varieties. You can order them online and make your own exotic coffee drinks at home. I have been using Hood Calorie Countdown Milk (3 carbs/cup) but recently decided to try soymilk. I limit myself to 1 latte/day. espresso does have a carb or 2 depending on how much you use. Probably more info than you wanted.

Default thank you

Thank you for your replies. The sugar free choclate that I have is Walden farms. Is it ok? I plan to only have a couple a week, just as a little treat but not something that is going to get me in too much trouble with my carbs. thanks again, it is so nice to have a place to go with my questions. Dawn

Hey Petra - just an ad-lib...Walmart now carries Divinci's full line of sugar free syrups...yeah!!!! Now...I can't wait until they carry "almond milk"...I here this is really good...sounds good anyway! Damnnnn...everyone talkin bout this "latte" stuff...I'm gonna have to try one...I'm yet another coffee enthusiast...can't live without it! I heard on many health channels/news that coffee and chocolate are good for you...check it out on the net...you'll find many positive effects of coffee and cocoa...it's just the sugar that's usually associated with it that's "bad for ya"...Hope this helps. Personally, I'm very cautious of anything that claims to be 0 carbs. When I looked at the ingredients, it contains Maltodextrin...which can be derived from rice, corn or potato starch. I try to avoid such things...but...thats just me.

I use 1 tablespoon which I literally measure. I'm not going to get too freaked out about it.
