You know, even though the people at my gym could not be nicer and focus on people who are not yet fit (and yes we have a freakish number of old folks) something stops me from going to the trainers for strength training. I don't even have to pay as that is part of the cost of our membership (it is also a tennis and swim club as well as having a group exercise, weights, sauna blah, blah, blah.

I tried looking online for some basic stuff and there is a lot there. Since you have a system I would google it with the words "suggested routine", or something like that. You will probably be shocked to find how many youtube things may be posted with exactly what you are looking for. I think the only danger may be using equipment with improper form and not realizing it but if you are observant and careful I don't think that will really be an issue.

Hiya LC'ers!

Didn't make it to church - dd10Tess woke up with fever & an earache.:( Getting ready to try out my new insurance effective 1/1 - hope I don't get racked with an astronomical bill but she is just suffering. Motrin has helped some but know it won't go away w/o anti-biotics. I also just put a drop of sweet oil in the offending ear & that has helped some too.

I had a weights work out plan made by a trainer for years bambi - recently changed it up when a gym bud told me that higher weights but less reps would maximize my w/o time - feel great on this plan - but guessing it depends on the equipment?

Just saw OK on the news lilyb - cars spinning around on ice was on the national news!:o Be Careful out there! We're gonna have a 55 degree high but the wind is gusting & the cold will move back in tonight.

I'm headed out to either Urgent Care or the Emergency Room - not sure which will take this new insurance better . . . Grrrrrrrrrr  - guess I'm lucky to have insurance at all but not feeling very lucky right now!

ttyal!

Aud - Thanks for the W/O tip...sorry to hear your DD is sick. My DD was starting to complain of throat soreness and fever. I found a great way to sneak Vitamin C on her (natural, that is)...She loves sliced apples (peeled...little premadonna)...so I slice and peel them and squeeze 1/2 fresh lemon on it. It's absorbed by the apple and she loves it! kinda sweet and sour which most kids love:hug:.

Out here in VA...Walmart has what is called "Redi-Clinic"...it costs about $35 visit, but if you don't want to sit in hospital/ER all day, maybe you want to check this out (that, of course, if they have one in your local walmart). The people who work there are nurse practitioners (sometimes better than doctors as they are more detailed). My daughter took my grandson there and was out in 15 min. with prescription for antibiotics. They also give flu shots too.

Well, hoping she feels better soon...I know how that can be...:(. Joyce

Hi everyone,

I've got caught up now on yesterday's posts. You ladies crack me up. ROFL.

Aud, sorry your DD is sick.

I made it to the gym yesterday and did 30 min's stairstepper and 30 mins treadmill. I decided to up my cardio to burn more cal's until I can get off this couple extra stubborn lbs. I really pressed myself with the harder levels and higher incline on the treadmill. I'm not sore today, but yesterday leaving the gym I felt like my legs were wobbly.

Joyce, LOL, yes men should stick to what they are good at.

We went to Karaoke again last night. They had door prizes and I won an Arkansas Razorback Baseball cap. Which I promptly gave to DH. We closed the club down and then came home (and ummm, didnt go to sleep for a long time). DH must be taking lessons from Joyce's BF this week. LOL. I think I did the splits last night by accident. LOL.

Aud, we haven't gotten the ice yet in this little corner of OK. But, it's rained like a monsoon. Plus, cold and windy. I'm perturbed that the insurance company that said they will pay for my new roof hasn't sent a check yet. I keep expecting for my ceiling to start leaking.

I plan to go to the gym again today at 3PM when my SD gets off work. She's actually mad at me cause yesterday she told me she wants to go to prom at the first of April and plans to lose 4 dress sizes by then. I wasn't very encouraging cause she drinks 2 of those 2 liter bottles of regular Dr. Pepper a day and eats nothing but crap. I've tried a zillion times to help her with a sensible wt. loss routine but she won't listen.

Wanna do something fun?

Go to www.mvm.com. It is a virtual model where you can plug in your height, weight and body type and get an idea of what you will look like when your reach your goal and how you will look along the journey. It really is kinda fun.

Morning, all!

Have to say, reading your posts has been cracking me up - especially all the stuff about people's shagfests! I'm living my lovelife vicariously through you folks at present, so keep up the good work. (And by 'up' I mean ....)

On the subject of good work, though, I'm suitably chastened by how impressive everyone's exercise routines are - for some reason I did NO EXERCISE AT ALL THIS WEEK! :(

Well, other than walking to and from work (15 mins each way). But - no gym, no swimming, nothing. Bad Fay.

However, I'm happy to report that I've lost 2lb. Must see how much I can lose THIS week, with actual exercise factored in too!

(Incidentally - I was teaching my 6 year olds about weights and measures the other week, and they were weighing things using scales. I was kind of pole-axed by how damned heavy the kilo weight actually IS. And then pretty damned proud of myself for successfully burning around that much weight off my fat *** on a weekly basis.)

bambifox 02-17-2008 09:06 PM

Wooo frikken hooo Faye!!!! That's great!!! I good thing to keep in mind though...we've been doing this for a while so it's no longer water weight baby...it's FAT!!! Don't worry, you'll pick up with the W/O next week...congrats!

Well, I've just got done with a personal trainer (who comes to my house...get your minds out of the gutter!). He worked the **** out of me...in a way that I just couldn't bring myself to do to myself! I've also decided to try this "Ripped System" by NxCare. It's a hard core 21 day system...supposed to get you ripped. So...I'm gonna try it with the personal trainer..and who knows...maybe I'll look like Flo Jo next month... I've googled it and found no bad side effects. I bought it from GNC...so, if it s*cks...then I'll return it and get my $75 bucks back!!!

Had SO MUCH FUN tonight at the Virtual Me site, scalm! Kind of freaked at how much my model looks like me - wish I was techno enuf to Post it here! dd & I made one for her - one of dh and then made a naughty of someone none of us like - LOL!:p

Glad you didn't get the ice lily . . . it stayed windy here and now the temp is dropping off . . . your dsd could prolly drop at least 2 sizes if she just gave up the soda alone!

How AWESOME to have a trainer come to your house bambi!! Hope you get really RIPPED so I can go to GNC the next day! LOL!

WTG on your loss faye!! I've lost on lc b4 with very little exercise for periods of time - just extra walking. (After my back surgery) . . . you're welcome to join us up in the February exercising Thread for the last two weeks here - every little bit of accountability always helps me, I know.

Hey it's 2:30am . . . think I should start us up on a new week?

ok . . . brb

Hey again..all!

SIC - Oh yeah....I checked out that site too...it was sooo cool! I actually made the girl's face & body look like mine. Another cool feature is that you can try on clothes from levis, sears, etc. This is a great feature cuz I hate trying on clothes. It's like having a personal shopper! Love it...thanks.

Well guys...just got finished reading the entire "Ripped" book. The workout program is outrageously intense...but...****...I'm gonna do it! It will consist of 4 days weight training (2 upper body, 2 lower body), 7 days cardio, but here's the kicker...on weight training days you are expected to do 30 min cardio at 65% level before your weights and 30 min. cardio at 65% level after your weights...on off-weight training days...you just do 1 session of 30 min cardio at what is called "sprinting". Sprinting is when you go high intensity (all out) for 30 seconds and slowly come down for 1 min...and repeat for 30 min. Actually, I did the sprint with my new trainer last night and i'll tell ya...I sweat more than ever before...sprinting just simply gives you more bang for your buck. The only thing that will be a real challenge for me (being on Atkins), is the dietary requirements of getting "ripped". The book has you eating 6 full fledged meals per day!!!...6! I don't know if I can eat that much food...believe me...I love to eat...but the amount of food required is ridiculous! I think though..that the program was really designed for men, but I'm going to give it a whirl!

If all goes well, I should substantially enhance my muscularity and drop a sh*tload of fat by next weigh-in. I'll keep you all apprised! Wish me luck...and strong lungs! Joyce
