  • I eat eggs 2 or 3 times a week, I also eat a a lot of leftovers for breakfast. but I eat around 10 or 11 so its more like brunch anyway.
  • Hello all, new to the board! Just wanted to add my 2 cents. I buy my eggs at the Farmer's Market, so I usually pay 2.50-4.50 for a dozen, but for me it's worth it. Personally, I find them to be tastier and fluffier in omlettes, fritatas, etc. I also get tired of eggs and bacon/sausage/turkeybacon/turkeysausage. When that happens, I usually eat a leftover grilled porkchop or other such leftovers. Thank goodness tho that I like and can eat eggs.
  • hi all
crabby I get eggs at Walmart, they are I think 2 a dozen!
I am in week 4, I think of Atkins and am desperately looking for the Powder shake mixes, I like them better than the canned, any ideas???

I won't pretend to be an expert on Atkin's, so I'm not sure if this is "Atkin's friendly" or not, but I use Aria brand all natural women's protein mix in vanilla. It is "certified low glycemic by the Glycemic Research Institute" in DC. It has 3 total carbs per serving, 1 of which is fiber, 1 sugar (so I guess 2 net carbs?). It is a 50:50 combination of whey and soy protein (14g protein per serving). It is sweetened with a little fructose and stevia. I think I found mine at Trader Joe's, but it's not specifically a TJ brand, so I'd think you could find it other places as well.
  • thanks
for the ideas, i dont havea trader joes around here, but i will look for the brand.

  • usually I eat a 1/2 slice of whole grain bread with low fat cottage cheese on top and ALWAYS a cup of unsweetened grapefruit juice. I am a big believer in the benefits of grapefruit.
  • Pudge - Do share your experience with grapefruits with us. I, for one, have always wondered if that whole grapefruit thing worked to speed up fat loss. I remember (way back in the day) my Mom going on the "grapefruit diet"..ha...remember when that was big??? Probably about the same time when that rope on the door knob ab/body sculpting mechanism came out!!! Okay..okay..now I'm really giving away my age.

I see you've lost alot...anything to do with the grapefruit and why? Thanks. Joyce
  • hey
lets not forget the cabbage soup and banana diet!!!!

  • I used to make tortilla's with egg, cheese, sausage, veggies inside...boy was it good. You don't need alot of cheese or sausage, just a smidgen for flavor. I remember buying these tortillas by the case when DH and I were both doing atkins. I'm thinking of buying them again and get the bread out of my house.... 9 gms of fiber girls whooot http://www.latortillafactory.com/jad...tilla_Talk**mb We would buy the green onion flavor mmmmmmmm !

Also I would make deviled eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast...not alot just enuf for flavor.

  • Thanks for that post Leenie...wow..sounds delish! Damn...I wish I could eat eggs!!! I guess it would taste great without the egg too. I'm just afraid to start with the low-carb bread/pita, cuz last time I did atkins, and lost the weight..when I added low-carb pita, I started craving carbs!! I think for now...I've gotta stay away from low carb breads.

Any suggestions for us people who can't tolerate bread??? Right now, I have 1/2 Atkins Advantage choco/peanut bar and coffee/water for breakfast. I need something that I can eat on the go in the morn. Busy, busy busy...so before ATkins, I used to skip breakfast. Thanks. Joyce
  • Egg muffins is another thing I used to make and you can even freeze them.

Spray w/Pam a 12 hole muffin pan, put crumbled cooked sausage or cut up ham or bacon or whatever you like in the cups. Some broccoli or spinach or asparagus would be good too. Add grated cheese, cheddar or montery jack or swiss. Don't over fill it w/the meat & cheese, like about 1/2 way or 3/4 at most. Beat 8 eggs with lt cream or half and half, just a splash and spoon egg mixture into the cups. Bake 350 degrees, maybe 15 minutes or so, you'll see them start to brown.

The possibilities are endless, you can add any kind of cheese, meat or veggies, they are wonderful to freeze. In the mornings I like to grab one or two out of the freezer and by the time I get to work they are defrosted and ready to heat.

Bambi...maybe use less eggs and more meats and/or veggies ??? I'd experiment... can you tollerate egg beaters or egg whites??

  • Ugh, those egg muffin cup things sound so good, I was going to make some, but I just went to gether ingredients only to find I have no frozen chopped spinach like I thought. I need to get more veggies into my days, so I don't want to make them with just meat and cheese. I'm thinking spinach, onion, maybe a little tomato, crumbled bacon, and cheese. Now I have to go to the store!
  • My favorite low carb breakfast is unsweetened almond milk, chopped walnuts and pecans, ground flax and a sprinkle of blueberries with few sliced strawberries.
  • Today's breakfast was salad with tuna: 2 cups raw spinach, 2 cups romaine lettuce, 1 lg tomato, a can of tuna & 3 Tbl mayo. This is not a "conventional" breakfast but it was good.
  • I often eat unconventional breakfasts. The breakfast above is probably the most "typical", "conventional" breakfast for me, ever!
