  • I agree with Ennay about the fiber, but I would also look for more sources of protein that weren't high-carb. Protein and fiber are the things that keep me full longest, but if I include processed carbs along with them (like the flour in the pizza crust, unfortunately), I'm hungry an hour later anyway. *sigh*

I thought there was fiber in raisin bran? Maybe not enough fiber though? I dont like many veggies.. Im a very picky eater thats why I think this is going to be hard for me..
  • Good Morning Countrymom!
You may want to have a look at the food lists for Body for Life. Simple, plain food (much easier to enter in fitday too)

Did that help you see some of the areas you need to improve on? It's toooo hard to start from scratch. It's much more manageable to tweak as you go.

Keep at it ... we're here to help.
  • tweak as you go... those are great words of advice!!!!

    I love that page, too.
    Am I that predictable?
  • Cooked beans are lowfat and a great source of fiber and protein and "good carbs". Apples are also a "good carb" and a great source of fiber!
  • Not predictable ... reliable. Yup, that's it!
  • Aww thanx Susan!

Start small, find veggies you tolerate and add some often. (For my dh, its salad, he hates cooked veggies so eats salad at almost every meal - cucumber, carrot, tomato, sometimes broccoli)

Try one new veggie, or one new way of preparing a not so favorite veggie a week

Sneak em in - add to omelettes; cook, puree and add to spaghetti sauce or pizza sauce

    Bury them in lowfat cheese

    Soup

    Other sources of fiber

Look for high fiber cereal, or skip the cereal and have one slice of high fiber bread with an eggbeater omelette

Where ever you have white bread, rice or pasta substitute whole grain (or better yet ezekiel)

Dont make too many fiber changes at once, if you normally dont eat much, jumping to a high fiber diet will cause GI distress, but work your way up to a minimum of 20-25 g of fiber daily
  • hi ladies , I waS wondering if there's a good site on the net that is easy to navigate , that lets you know which foods have the best carbs and fibre ,etc...
