  • I was just wanting some of your opinions on how you like Fitday. I'm going to start an account tomorrow, and wondering how you knew the right calorie range to start out with? Another site that I post on, and they also have a calorie tracker on it, always keeps my calorie range at 1200-1550, and I don't know if it's correct or not. I would love any input, thanks!
  • Hey Michelle, i know you from another thread (1 pound down....) anyway. I use fitday and i like it quite bit. I think your cals sound right but you just have to mess around with it. There is a sweet spot that you have to find. If i dont eat enough, i dont lose...then of course eating too much i dont lose either. I have lost my sweet spot lately....only around 1 pound a week...when i hit it just right i lose 3-4 pounds a week, but from what i have found it all depends on how much exercise you do, what type of exercise you do, what time of the month it is....the list goes on and on...but i think your numbers sound good.

My biggest rules are exercise, exercise, exercise...makes all the difference in the world...unfortunately. And i NEVER eat a carb without eating a protien with it.
  • STACY...Thanks for responding. You're right, I will just have to start with an amount, maybe a little higher, and work with it from there. I definitely need to restart my exercise again tomorrow morning, and I always do my WATP dvds, love them!
  • I love fitday. It takes some getting used to but you can do all kinds of things with custom foods and they will stay in there for you to select forever!

Let's wait until you get all your info in there (height and weight) and see what your 'basal' is.
  • SUSAN...Thanks for your response. I did just set up my Fitday account, and it gave me a calorie range of 2200, which I know is way too high for me to lose weight, so I set mine to start with 1600 a day, and then go from there. What do you think with that amount? A couple of other ladies here said that's what they started out with when they were at my beginning weight, even though I'm a little lower than that now, and we're all also hypothyroid. Did you set a goal weight by a certain time on there? I can see that Fitday will take some time of getting used to, but I'm excited to get going. Any suggestions that you have, I'd be glad to know about, and thank you again!
  • I really like Fitday - I like being accountable & I love seeing how many calories I really use in a day. Suddenly, housework is much more fun when I think of it as calories burned instead of drudgery. My only issues are the exercise choices - I use the elliptical & burn a lot of calories doing level 6-10 (I made it to level 12 last night) so I have to code it in as running since there's no elliptical option. I do record the mileage accurately so I can keep track of how "far" I've gone on the thing & I dink around with it til the calories in Fitday are close to what the readout on the elliptical says. My other issue is custom foods, but that's been good for me in a way because I really have to think about what I'm eating and if it's worth the calories from a nutritional standpoint.
  • I went in and looked at your Fitday, and I LOVE how you write at the top of your menu each day what your day has been like, and I also love your outgoing attitude! Where on Fitday do you write in everything so it shows up at the top of the page? Thanks for your help!
  • Hi! I use the journal page every morning & update as I go through my day - I am assuming that's how I make that happen since I am far from technically gifted when it comes to Fitday so far! I'm glad someone looked at my Fitday -- thank you! That makes me feel even more accountable, which is a very good thing for me

Yup - that's what it is. I went in through the My FitDay link and saw what you all see. Now I'm kinda sorry I didn't record all the calories I got to burn off having sex with my darling spouse *tee hee*
  • LOL!!! You're too cute, and thanks again for your help!
  • OnePerDecade--I used to use the elliptical every day, too, and I found that in Fitday, the closest to the actual calories my elliptical said I was burning was I think a "ski machine." It was only off by a couple of calories per hour.

I love Fitday--when I actually use it. I tend to "forget" when I'm having a bad food day
  • I have just started using it. So far I LOVE IT!!
  • One thing I ran into yesterday was when I was manually entering the frozen green beans I eat and taking the info right from the bag, Fitday wouldn't accept it and every time I tried to enter it, it kept telling me that the calories were wrong for the other info I had input, and they made me cut the calories in half to accept when that wasn't what the bag info showed.
  • Green beans should be green beans Michelle. Do yours jive with the ones in fitday itself?
It does do some funny things like that. You'll learn to live with it. I did.
  • Does anyone here use the Fitday PC version as to just using the free online version? If so, what do you like about it, and also, did you use the downloaded version only, or pay a little extra to also have the CD that they mail to you? I'm thinking of getting the PC version, but wanted to hear what others have experienced with it first, thank you!

Thanks for the ski machine idea, Jillybean! You're right - the calories are pretty close but there's no mileage option For some reason, seeing how many miles I have logged is a major ego boost...but thank you for the suggestion!
