  • Well, ok, I've been off that wagon again, and could use the support. I'm happy to hear from you all.
  • Hope everyone is having a good holiday week-end. We're sticking close to home so that will make the food choices easier. Dropped another pound this week, it really helps to get some exercise in.

Hi Lisi, good to see you back on track.

  • Hi Ladies,

    Wow, all new people here....

I have not posted in many months! I am still maintaining but working to get to my goal weight. It is nice to hear from you Amy and hear that you have a new baby boy!!! That is great. Also you are still fighting the fight Lisi. Hi to all the newer ladies. I have posted here for a long time and have missed it. I am really busy at work and do not get to post. I am struggling to maintain and it is not easy. I am not done loosing but if maintaining is all I can do at the moment, it will have to do. I have had such a hard time over the past 6-8 months to loose. I never loose a lb. only gain a few or stay the same. I know I need to go to another level to loose but I feel so stretch thin as it is... LOL One day at a time I say..... I am doing all the same stuff as far as walking, eliptical and weight training.... eating is not so good but I am holding on and have not gone all the way back so.....

    Anyone hear from Holly lately?

    Amie
  • Hi Amie!

Great to see you back in here.

Saber is a month old this week, and we are doing well. I am up to exercising about 20-40 minutes per day now-depending on how long he will let me put him down. I could do more-but I have to wait for his schedule to become slightly more predictable with longer nap periods.

I have lost a few pounds since his birth-I just haven't had the time to put my stats up here yet. I will do that soon. I have to be careful not to lose too quickly right now-since I am still eating for two. (nursing) I can't go below 1800 calories a day right now at the absolute bare minimum-I am currently losing on 2000-2200 a day, since I am feeding him about 10+ times a day.

Yesterday I did 40 minutes in two, 20 minute intervals. I did 20 minutes of weights early in the day during his nap...and in the evening I walked a 20 minute mile on the treadmill while DH held him to keep him occupied. I am really trying to get some of my core strength back in my abs and back so that I can start doing some more strenuous dance movements again.

I don't know about everyone else-but we all need to buckle down and get in here more often and get this thread back up and busy again. I need the motivation, and I would be happy to give you all a kick in the behind as well. I need to get back to my former self again. I have costumes to fit into again.

Today is Jasmine's birthday (my oldest) and she is 8. I eating a little lighter this morning and at lunch to allow for dinner out tonight. (I am NOT skipping meals though, which is a no-no...just eating lighter.) Wish me luck on making healthy choices tonight. I also bought a 6 pack of cupcakes from the grocery store bakery-rather than baking them myself-because a home recipe usually makes 24 cupcakes...and I don't want to have that many around the house. I figure this way-they are gone TONIGHT, with no cupcakes laying around to tempt me for the next couple of days.

Exercise for today will be yoga and cardio...I need it.
  • Amy, you are doing great after giving birth just a month ago! Don't push your self too hard. Like you know boys/ breast feeders eat more often and breast feeding it self helps with weight loss. You always seem so full of energy! Good Luck......

I need to some how get back into weight loss mode????? After my surgery I had an instant 10lbs loss and I think my body put half that right back on because it was such a extreme loss. Now I am stabilized but am noticing since surgery which was in Feb. 06 I am just not working as strong and eating is off a bit. I am gaining like a lb ever few months? Then I will loose 1 and maintain for a months and gain a lb..... I know it is that I am being too slack on my food choices and portions and the exercise is not enough, just enough to maintain a little.... I feel really good at this weight but have a few lbs I want to loose in weird places like my back. I have like a thick fatty place at the bra line? Also inner thigh area? Maybe 15 lbs?

How do you loose BACK fat? I do use my weights and do a few different exercises that target that bra line area but don't see any change?? Maybe more cardio... LOL
  • I'm here, too!!

I have been busy being off plan for a couple of weeks and somehow found my way back to sanity.

Aphil, that's great that you are getting back to your pre-baby self. Our granddaughter arrived on September 2 and her mom is doing well also.

Hard to believe Saber is a month old already!

Amie, glad to see you back. I remember your posts and am glad you're back here. You'll get those extra few stubborn old pounds off. Isn't it funny where they hide? On your back where you can't see 'em, and other spots?

will post more later. And I'll help get the thread going again, along with everyone else!
  • Amie-

You can't lose in one particular area-such as the back area around your bra. Everyone carries their weight in different places-and it comes off in whatever way it sees fit. There always seems to be one or two places where it comes off "last" for most of us-our problem areas. For me-it is my legs and butt, and for you it sounds like the back and middle area are your areas. Basically-as you get closer to goal, with exercise, you will lose those remaining fat deposits. You can't change your body type, though-and you are an apple-which means you will always be a little larger up top, and smaller down below. I am hourglass-so I can get a small middle pretty easily-but I will always have a "butt" and be curvier in the upper arms and thigh areas. Our shape is our "shape"...but with proper diet and exercise, and the right clothes we can make the best of it.

One thing that you can think about to get you motivated again-is to think about what all you went through with your surgery. You had your tummy tuck because of all the extra skin you had around the middle after losing the bulk of your weight. Since you are an apple, if you gain all that weight back and have to lose it all over-then it will go back around the middle area once more-and you will be back to square one again with more loose skin in your belly area. I don't think after the pain, and the financial costs-that you want your surgery to be for nothing.

Right now your gain has just been a couple of pounds-but a "maintainer" stops the gain when it is a coupel pounds-rather than letting that turn into a larger amount such as 15, 25, or 50 pounds gained. Everyone slips now and then-but maintenance is for life. It is normal to have a small relapse of a couple pounds now and then-but the key is to get proactive with that and turn it around before it gets out of control again. If you need the accountability-I am here. I am so glad you are back-sounds like we need it. We have Lisi, and Waterbaby, and some of us thread "oldies" here who have known each other for a long time on 3FC. I am glad we are all back and trying to get moving again.

  • I am most definitely an APPLE ! Every day I think about the fact that each 1 lb that creeps in is a 1lb further from my goal, a lb closer to my old body and that it is going right to my tummy!! I am so fearful now that I will gain weight back and mess up my surgery. It was the right choice for me and has changed my life so much. I can work out better, wear my close right…..Since a child I have always put a tee over my bathing suit, this summer I bought my first bikini and NO tee…. I love it and can not go back! I am not giving up at all but am struggling for the energy to work out more and am sliding on my eating. I am in a mental battle with my self right now. LOL I am doing great one day on eating and a work out then will do bad for a day or two then great again for 2 days then bad for a day where before I was just maybe having 1 bad day a week or even ever other week! The one thing I can say is I am still working out and am aware and that is key in not going back……. I think some of it is that I have been on track for 3 years with a few humps and I think I just get bored or tired and will slack off and then you have a hard time getting back into it. I let my self get comfortable and now it is time to get Uncomfortable!

Thanks… I need a good kick in the A** right now for sure! LOL
  • Hi all! I am still here too. Life has been up and down these past couple of weeks, and so my plan has been off. No real damage, just didn't go anywhere. Amiee, I know you can get yourself moving, you are such an inspiration! Keep your self moving, and eventually the pounds will come off!

I have been getting to the gym, but not as much as I would like, having sick kiddies gets in the way. I was planning to go today, but DD2 seems to be getting a UTI, and so now I have to take her to the doc, If I can make it there before DS gets out of school today I would be happy. Well, Have to run.

    Later Chicas!
  • Seems like a lot of us have been slacking a bit lately! I know I did for most of the summer. I'm calling it "maintaining" rather than a plateau! LOL. I think I gained and lost the same 3 pounds all summer long, but no more!!! At the beginning of September, I made myself a 4 pound goal, and as of this morning, I'm down 1.5 pounds (well, it's actually more because I didn't start counting until I got back to 143)! I'm remotivated with exercise, too, because the temperatures here have cooled down for the weekend, so I plan on my 4+ mile walk Saturday and Sunday mornings!
  • Wooowee!!!! So glad to hear from all of you. 2 amie's, what a bonus!!!!! I have been so totally away from monitoring my food. Now I hear a D friend is on Jennie Craig and lost 40 lbs. I sure would like to hop back on the wagon - not JC though.
I am up another 2.8 lbs not showing on my chart. Did better with more awareness yesterday and lost .2. Out to walk now. I'm a total failure at getting to bed 11PM. That would eliminate so many "dont give a darn" night calories.
    xxxo
  • Ok 2 lbs gone ,
    Were are you, girls?
  • Wow, how cool is this. I lost my weight with Jenny Craig, but years ago..my first time at changing lifestyle habits...was good old fashioned calorie counting, like my Mother did. I lost maybe 10 or 15 lbs. That was my chubby, I am-in-junior-high-I-am bored weight. LOL I am going to keep coming back here to get good points, and advice.

I am finding that good old fashioned excercise, drinking water, and cutting cals, as well as fat grams..within reason is what is working for me. I cruised a nutrition site that also gave me the veg, and fruit exchanges that we should eat per day.

Hey, with all this guidance, I can do it. I can do it for life. By the way, to the lady who started this...I like bellydance and have red hair. How cool!!

Take care, and thanks for starting this WAY cool thread.

  • Hi Marie,

    Welcome!

We're a great, support group. You'll find the posts come in waves, several all at once and then we're quiet awhile, but the group is having a growth spurt.
