Default Fitday activities question

I set my lifestyle as sedentary so that I wouldn't be overestimating the calories I burn. My question is, does anyone enter in every day activities like driving, cooking, working, etc.? Or should I leave it at sedentary and only enter the intentional excersise? There is quite a large difference for me if I enter these activities, even though I do seated work. My concern is that if I am actually burning that many more calories than I think I am, I may not be eating enough, or on the other hand, if I'm not burning those calories, I don't want to eat too much. Any help is greatly appreciated.

For me - I enter only intentional exercise....and then I still don't really take the exercise into account to counterbalance what I eat. I think I'm set at comatose....and the calories burned still seems high to me.

on 13 pounds lost so far!!!

Thanks! I thought the calories burned looked too good to be true. By the way, you're a big inspiration. Congrats on your 100 pound loss!!!

Mine is set at about snoring all day too. And I only add intentional activity. Fitday is flawed that way and it's taken me a coupla years to get it set so that it reflects what's really happening.

I really detest that part of fitday. Too many folks plunk in their best guess and come up with expenditures of 3000 cals per day and are happily surprised ... right up until weigh in day.

Cryan313 .... I'm so happy that you asked first!

Yes, once you have some of your own data from calorie counting, you don't have to rely on "estimated" expenditures. I happen to fit the 15 Cal/pound rule of thumb for men pretty closely, but others are more or less efficient in their BMR.

I can feel when I am running a deficit. My brain doesn't function quite the same when I am running it on ketone bodies, so I can feel a sort of "medicine head" state when I am losing. If I am feeling mentally sharp, I am definitely maintaining or gaining.

Strengthwise, my muscular endurance is poor when I am running a good deficit. I can't do high rep lifting when dieting.
