Default Egg whites questions

Me and my husband are on a low cal diet, and it is working well for both of us. We mostly eat lean cuisines for our meals since it makes it easy and we actually like them. Especially those new sandwiches.

To my surprise I couldn't find all that much info on egg whites on a diet. From what I did find, they are ~17 cals per large egg white with 0 fat? Is there any reason not to have 2-3 a day, anything bad for you or bad for a diet?

I was thinking about throwing in egg whites as a snack during the day though. I have some microwave thing I got for like $1.99 on clearance, just dump in a yolk and let it go for like 30 seconds. Surprisingly when I am really hungry I enjoy them, I put like literally 2 grains of salt on it.

How do you guys cook them? Anything to spice them up a bit too?

Thanks!

My favourite is to mix three egg whites with 1/2 cup oatmeal, fry it in a nonstick pan and eat it like bread. I dip it in cottage cheese, apple sauce, peanutbutter
You can also make french toast with just egg whites.

Let's see what the others suggest.

I haven't gotten to a point I can stomach just the whites yet. I've been using egg beaters but I noticed they have egg beater whites. Maybe this thread will give me ideas to cross that bridge.

I sure wouldn't eat just the whites for the fun of it, have been doing them 100% plain now. Just had 2 for a snack.. Beats blowing a lot of cals when I am starving before dinner.

I already know I can have eggs. What I want to know is which part does the PROTIEN come in? I want more nutritional info than just calories and fat.

Found this .... The white of a large egg, or about 1-1/4 ounces, has 16 calories, 3 g of protein, 2 mg of calcium, 4 mg of phosphorus, 55 mg of sodium, 45 mg of potassium, the weensiest little bit of riboflavin, and no fat, cholesterol, or carbohydrates.

I mix 2 cooked whites with mustard, a half tabelspoon of Miracle Whip, some chopped pickles and voila! Egg salad ....very yummy in a whole wheat tortilla.

I personally buy the "all whites" liquid egg whites in the carton. Same type of carton that Egg Beaters comes in. I eat them all the time.
