  • I agree with Ilene-I feel younger and more alive now at almost 30 than I did at 23 when I was 200+ the first time around with a new baby. I use eye cream now...but hey.

    I agree that everyone should check the labels on any meal replacements and shakes and powders that they use. The ingredients are listed in the order of what there is the most of, so you want the healthier ingredients to come before the sugars and flavorings and such on the list.

    As far as the exercise videos go-there are a million Pilates and yoga videos out there, and there are lots of different levels of them. It is hard when you buy one in the store to know what you are getting, really. I recommend checking out Collage Video-because the people who work for that company DO the videos themselves, before they sell them.
    They list them by actual difficulty-and they also list how long of a video they are, etc. If you are a beginner and bought a Pilates video that you are not fit enough to do-it may be because you purchased a 30-40 minute Pilates video that is intermediate level-when maybe you are only fit enough right now to do a 20 minute Pilates video that is geared towards the beginner. Feel free to buy the videos wherever you choose, but check out the listings at Collage and read before you buy. They have all of their videos listed by difficulty, as well as in categories for strength training, aerobics, step, yoga, Pilates, dance, etc. It makes it so much easier to find what you personally need-and to choose videos for whatever needs you have regarding time and fitness level.
  • Quote: Tracy -- Sounds like you had a wonderful day shopping!! Good for you for sticking to the perimeter of the store. I promise that in the long run, eating healthy, IS cheaper...
    I hope so. I know it will in my medical bills later in life. I walked EVERY isle in the stores... I just didn't buy anything from them lol. Only frozen veggies, all bran granola bars (hubby wanted them) and salad dressing I think lol. I think everything else came from the outter wall shelves lol.

    Quote: That SuperSizedMe movie grossed me right out, although I havent been to McD's in years and when I do go to fast foods I always order salads because my stomach can't handle the hamburgs I burp them for hours later, this is a side effect from eating healthy , when you eat unhealthy your stomach can't handle it...
    It sure was an eye opener!!! I about got sick! I let my kids watch it! But I think they forgot all about it because they want more and more McD's! I wish the healthy choices there were not so costly! Keeps me eating at home though!
  • I love Krogers!! I save so much more money there then I ever have at Super-Walmart (Hellmart)! I can't stand walmart anymore. I tracked my spending (well at least my checkbook spending, couldn't track my cash or credit card spending) at Super-Walmart one year... it was over $15,000.00!!! And the only thing we buy there really is groceries haha. With Kroger I save over $50.00 every week! I love the card savings thing!

    I do hope the gas prices go down soon! If not, I am going to scream lol. I won't fix my car (don't have the money anyway lol) until I know gas prices are affordable. No since in spending money to fix it if I won't have gas to drive it haha.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    How have ya' all been doing today? I have done so much exercise today!! I did 5½ miles walking away the pounds I think plus 110 minutes mowing the grass! Now I wish I could take a good nap but I am going to have to start dinner instead lol. I can't wait to sit and relax... and then sleep for the night hahaha.
  • I buy protein powder at the bulk food store. I found their website and it had all the nutritional info. It doesn't have vitamins and things so I take a multi vit.
    I've used soy for a long time but recently thought I'd give whey a try. I love it! (it's not bothering my innards like some dairy products) It's spins up fluffy and nice and tastes way better than soy. And it's cheaper.
  • I decided to go ahead and try my video out I bought at walmart... I have done 30 minutes of pilates plus 1.5 hours walking today. I also do 10 push ups every morning and evening and 20 squats. Im still sore. I can almost bet charlie is going to be visiting me tonight! And I thought I was getting max excercises with walking and alittle bit of calistenics. yeah right! Hubby took off and I planted my hinny down.. the hardest ones I could do is the leg circles man those are literal killers.
    I had to catch up on to many carbs from yesterday.
    Im going to get a different protein shake, cause of the carbs. Moms got a 5.00 coupon and a 20% discounted card I can use to get it.
  • Jewelz,
    WOAH!!! Your making my exercise today look like a walk in the park!! I have not been able to do sit ups or push ups yet. As for squats.. not yet, but I am doing the kick backs that Leslie Sansone does.
    I ordered a couple Denise Austin DVD's. Columbia house (I am a member) had them for $5.95 each!! Plus, shipping was only 97¢ for each movie! Not a bad deal! But I am not sure if those deals are for everyone or not. I need something to do different things I think.
    Anyway, congrats on all of that exercise today!! That is awesome!! And kick charlie out before he can attack!! Make sure you stretch real good so you can try and avoid him tonight.
  • Tracy~ when I started out walking I only started out at 18 minutes. Ive been on my excercise and diet for about 7-8 months now (I wish I would wrote down the date). I just add alittle here and there. That away its not such a big impact on my back/neck (thats why I like walking its easier).
    I didnt want to make it sound like it was a walk in the park (Im sorry if I sounded that way). You just have to work at it whatever your body allows you. Even if it takes you awhile, youll be able to keep progressing.
    And Charlie Ill kick his tush first haha A hot bathe might fix it before it happens.
    Susan~ Now you got me thinking about going to whey products LOL! Glad to see you peeked in..
    Hows it feel having the house to yourself?
  • Jewelz,
    Lol... you did not make it sound like a walk in the park at all. I was just in awww at how much you did!
    I always forget dates.... I even forget to journal. I am terrible at journaling!! Thank goodness for Fitday (thanks again Susan!!!)!!!!
  • I have a question. You have ALL been so AWESOME and helpful for me. But I am afraid I might be messing some of my calorie counting up. WW offered me to re-join the online membership. I am thinking that it would be easier for accurately counting the calories (WW is really calorie counting and seems a lot like the American Heart Association No-Fad Diet) if I did WW. I am thinking it might be easier.. and with all that I have learned on these boards here about calorie counting that I might be able to be successful on WW now that I have a better understanding of calorie counting and food in general. I am wondering what you all think? So many of you were so awesome with helping me. I just want to make sure everything I do is done perfectly and with little error so I can be successful.
    Also.. I copy and pasted this on the other board I made earlier.
  • Tracy -- Don't complicate things so much... Whatever works for you is best really... If you find points easier to calculate than calories, by all means do it!! If you are rejoining on-line, will you have to pay $$... We have a great WW forum here too at 3FC you can just mosey over there and discuss whatever it is that pertains to WW... Also, you know, whether it be calorie or point counting, it's not rocket science, it all comes down to ''calories in - calories out = weightloss''....
    So don't overthink the whole thing, as you get more comfortable with eating right, exercising and weightloss, perfection is not important it's really persistance...
    Whatever the decision you make will be the right one for YOU... and if you decide that it's not, well come back and we'll be happy to help you out again and again...
  • I try not to really. But for some reason my mind is always going nuts to absorb any and all info. As for WW online costing money, yes it is like $16.00 a month. My mother in law offered to cover it for me. I would never leave this site! I like the tools to count points on WW's site, but I like the boards better on this site. I just figured out what "Slimmin Sista's" was!! I have no idea it was WW people!! I noticed that when I browsed through the WW boards.
    I agree that it does not take a rocket scientist... but I feel I am not counting everything with counting calories. For example... my coffee cost me about two points this morning with the creamer and splenda. But I have not been able to calculate that on fitday so it never was in there.
    I think with everything I have learned here on 3FC's boards about healthier food choices, daily exercise, counting calories (even points), weight loss, maintenance, and more... I think I could be very successful on WW. Last time I did WW I don't feel I did to bad... exspecially since I quit smoking at the same time! But, at that time I was NOT choosing healthy foods, I was not exercising at all, and I had no understanding really of anything. But through you guys I have learned and grown a lot in these areas. I feel anyway. I have learned more here then I have in my um-teen million books I have read lol!
  • Speaking of age .... I found this on another thread http://www2.oprah.com/health/lifest...real_main.jhtml
    Ah ha! I'm only 43!
  • I forget to journal alot of days. When I go through mine I notice I only journal when somethings changed or effected my diet. Which is a fairly big gap.
    I agree with Irene, we're all here to support each other no matter what choice you choose.
    I did WW's before lost 50 pounds. I also tried another place but I forgot the name of it. lol Its been probably 8 years but I was paying 40.00 a month for exercise tables that did it for you. Lost all that money the first two days I was there.. Got sick and found out I was prego.
    Susan, your such a character lol.. My laugh for the day
    Maybe its just me but that link didnt work.
  • Jewelz .... I think where I tried to cut and paste it from was on the 100 lbs threads. I must have done something wrong. I'll see if I can fix it or you could just pop over there.
    BTW .... it's a good thing to make people laugh. laughing is good.
    let's try this
