I'm back (from ages ago)

I haven't been here in over 5 years, but this was the place I went to when I first started my weight loss journey (184 to 142). Although I've lost 180lbs since I've been here (Think divorce, LOL) I need to lose 15lbs and I've been stuck at 160 for 3 weeks now and it's depressing me. For two of those weeks I was doing 1200 calories and exercising 3 to 4 times a week at 50 minutes a time. (I would eat back those calories so I was taking in about 1400 calories on those days) Almost all my food is premeasured so the calories are really close and I added ANYTHING that would go into my mouth. This past week I tried upping the calories to 1500 and didn't exercise and I didn't gain or lose. I am so frustrated and I just need some support.

Thanks in advance,

Angela

Welcome back!

Welcome back Angela!

I'm just coming back myself after a long time away. I only lost 15 pounds (175-160), but I'm trying to lose the last 30 to get me to a healthy BMI.

The one thing I can say is - DON'T GIVE UP! Remember how many times the scale just seemed to stop for weeks at a time, and then all of a sudden - 2 or 3 pound drop? This happens with persistence.

I'm so glad you are back and you have a good group here to support you. I think upping the calories was a good idea. Maybe up the calories and teensy bit more, take a day or two off exercise and then go back at it. Your body might just need a rest. You can do it. :carrot::carrot:

diamond_girl 01-12-2014 04:57 PM

Thanks for the support!

toobig 01-13-2014 01:56 AM

I'm back after a long absence and a twenty pound re gain. We can do it!

diamond_girl 01-13-2014 07:48 AM

Welcome back to you also!

kaarin 01-13-2014 09:59 AM

Welcome back ladies! I am also back from 3 years ago. Checking in here sure helps you keep focused on the goal. We CAN do it!

Eydawn 01-13-2014 07:07 PM

Welcome back! I also am back after long hiatus, and too much weight gain. I'm at the highest I've ever been... and I'd like to get down to a healthier weight as we're trying to plan for tiny humans soon... I'd rather not be that mom that was fat to start, gained baby weight and then never lost it...

diamond_girl 01-14-2014 07:23 PM

Hey everyone. So the scale said I finally went down. 2 pounds (although since it's not digital, it could be more or less, but it's below that stubborn 160!!) Yay!

GoingForGold82 01-16-2014 12:12 AM

That's excellent Angela! Doesn't it just drive you nuts when the scale won't go down? But then when it finally does, you are so proud of yourself for sticking with it.

I'm waiting to see what my final weigh-in is in a couple days after my period. If I can make it down to 159 by this Sunday, I'll be pleased as punch. The goal is 1 lb a week, down 30 by August.

Paisleymama 01-16-2014 01:43 AM

Welcome back! It's great that you're here early, better now than to let it snowball. Maybe with the added exercise you're building some muscle and retaining some fluid. Glad to hear the scale is moving in your favour now.

I tend to maintain on anything over 1500. My body is a bit broken!

diamond_girl 01-16-2014 07:47 AM

Sometimes I get so frustrated when the scale doesn't move that I just give up. It's like here I am "starving" myself and I have nothing to show for it. Grrr.

GoingForGold82 01-16-2014 08:53 PM

Ladies - it sounds like we have a nice little group here. We have between 15-40ish lbs. How about we keep each other accountable over the next 15 lbs? I can't wait to see everybody's prove they can do it. And FYI - I'm always the last one to loose - you girls will love having me in your group lol.

diamond_girl 01-16-2014 09:05 PM

Sounds like a plan. I need accountabilty.

GoingForGold82 01-16-2014 09:53 PM

I am somewhat of a serial weigher, but I am taking my weight every Sunday morning for my tracking tool. I need accountability too! That's why I so heart this forum.

diamond_girl 01-18-2014 06:55 AM

I weigh in on Mondays.

GoingForGold82 01-18-2014 11:06 AM

I weigh in Sundays! Shooting for 159, but thinking I might come in at 158 since it's my first time restricting calories for some time. Yesterday was a bad day - 2K calories (1K from snacks as listed below). Usually I'm pretty spot on, but yesterday was not a good day lol :-P

toobig 01-19-2014 04:37 AM

I weigh on Mondays too. Last week I was up another pound but was having hormone issues. It should be gone tomorrow night when I get up.

GoingForGold82 01-19-2014 09:49 AM

Hi toobig. Hormone issues are THE WORST. I gain 5-7 lbs in a matter of a day or two. I'll lose it just the same, but it's discouraging.

So weigh-in Sunday for me. Drumroll. 158!
First week back on the job so I expected good progress. I haven't been below 156 in about 8 years, so 155 is a magical # for me.

Hope all is well gang.

diamond_girl 01-20-2014 07:48 AM

YAY *\o/* great loss. My scale said 157, but it's not digital, I think I"m going to have to just get a digital scale. My fear is that my scale is so off that when I use the digital I'll be plus 5 or more pounds...

toobig 01-20-2014 08:53 PM

I was down to 180.5 today! Yes!

diamond_girl 01-21-2014 05:52 AM

I was right, that scale was off. new scale say's I'm at 163.2 so I'm going with that. sigh... Oh well, I'm still saying I lost 11 lbs, I was just fatter when I started. Still in the overweight category...

GoingForGold82 01-22-2014 09:27 AM

toobig and diamondgirl - WAY TO GO!!! I had 3 days of eating from ****, but I kept up with my exercises and feel thinner. I think this week I'll be 158 or 159, but I converted some fat to muscle (so I think). Eating 1500 calories again and I feel much better. 130, here I come!!

GoingForGold82 01-22-2014 09:29 AM

diamondgirl - new scales are the worst, but this is just a temporary setback. You are so close, and when you get back down, you'll never have to doubt the scale again! No more living in fear lol :-)

toobig 01-22-2014 09:01 PM

Just getting up and getting my day started. Today is going to be a perfectly on plan eating day. Hope everyone has a great day.

diamond_girl 01-23-2014 07:13 AM

Good Morning Everyone! I've been taking the stairs at work and also twice a day walking up to the 6th floor and back down to the first floor then back to my 3rd floor. I'm also doing arms every other day (stupid batwings, it sucks getting old) and I try to get on the treadmill to do at least 30 minutes every other day. (50 minutes on the weekend when I'm not doing the stairs)

The boys and I are going on a 5 day cruise in 67 days!! That's my motivator. I'd like to lose enough for what I'll gain. I'm hoping that by then I'll develop a liking to the treadmill and use the cruise facilities. Yeah, right.

GoingForGold82 01-23-2014 07:35 AM

toobig - awesome! I had a great eating day yesterday.

diamond girl - 5 day cruise in what 68 days? oh 67 days, and no less ;-) I triple dog dare you to work out on vacation. I'll be incredibly impressed.

I've been doing the leslie sansone walk away the pounds videos with weights. they are so easy, but it I get in 30 minutes or an hour it is an extra 200-400 calories burned. plus, they are really helping me tone some of that fat into muscle. BIG LIKE>

diamond_girl 01-23-2014 07:19 PM

GoingForGold82 I'm just not a good follower of videos, I get bored real easy. I usually watch the TV while walking on the treadmill, then it doesn't feel like exercise.

And the "the coup de grace of all dares, the sinister triple-dog-dare."

;)

toobig 01-23-2014 09:06 PM

We are doing great!

tdiprincess 01-23-2014 09:08 PM

Hi all! Couldn't help but notice there's a lot here in the same boat as me! I'm back after a hiatus that lasted a little too long.
I like the idea of support each other for the next little bit!

diamond_girl 01-24-2014 06:11 AM

Welcome tdiprincess join the crew!

diamond_girl 01-25-2014 10:59 AM

I've been serial weighing, lol since I got the new scale I've been weighing every day. I'm so glad to see it moving down! Although now I wonder if I've was even heavier then my old scale said (OMG) I'm not moving my ticker because I still have two days until official weigh in (and it might creep up, although I hate that) but this am it said 161! Yay! here's to maybe losing another 1/2 lb by Monday!

diamond_girl 01-25-2014 06:35 PM

LMAO, because I was shoveling snow for almost three hours today my fitness pal gave me this: If every day were like today... You'd weigh 142.4 lbs in 5 weeks

OMG, if everyday were like today I'd fall over dead.

toobig 01-26-2014 02:43 AM

I need your scale diamondgirl. Mie has jumped seen pounds in three days

GoingForGold82 01-26-2014 09:48 AM

tdi princess - welcome welcome!! Come join the weight loss fun.

Diamond Girl - That's right, triple dog dare. I think I watched a Christmas Story one too many times over the holidays. See, u just bought that new scale and you're almost back done to where you were! Shoveling seems to have been a big calorie destroyer for you, but I don't want you to fall over dead. Employ child labor. Anyone over 2 is fair game :-P

toobig - hang on. my scale just jumped a couple weeks ago, but a week of water and vey careful calorie counting will usually yield results. My scale jumps around period time or when I'm eating too much salt. #waterweightsucks

OK, so my weight in today…158! Exactly like I thought, but I think I'll be 156 by next week if I stay on plan and here's why. I am also a serial weigher, and last night pre-thai, drinks, and going out I weighed 156.8! I haven't seen that number in a while. If I eat smart and continue to work out, I think 156 is a distinct possibility next week. Fingers crossed. FitPal daily recorder ready and waiting.

diamond_girl 01-26-2014 10:39 AM

Thai food... mmm. I didn't weigh my self this am (too cold to remove all my clothes, LOL) So tomorrow is my offical weigh in. good job on the loss GoindForGold, I believe you can reach 156 by next week! I didn't have the kids this weekend, so child labors couldn't be had.
TooBig - That scale can be a friend or foe, I agree with Gold, it's probably water weight. Here's to a loss for you this week.

Angela

diamond_girl 01-27-2014 06:23 AM

Official Monday am weigh in is... ta ta da.... 160.4 *\o/* yay me!

GoingForGold82 01-27-2014 09:18 AM

Holy moly! Congrats diamondgirl. That's awesome. You are my inspiration to eat healthy for this week despite a cold.

And thanks for the encouragement. I needed that.

toobig 01-27-2014 09:55 PM

Yall are doing great!!! My official Monday weigh n was 186. I know its water because my hands are painfully swollen but it still sucks to see it on the scale.

diamond_girl 01-28-2014 06:37 AM

How much water are you drinking toobig? It's my understanding that if you drink enough water you don't have that water retention problem as much. (I could be way off though) Keeping going, and take in less sodium. (((HUGS)))

GoingForGold82 01-29-2014 10:30 AM

OK, eating healthy with the cold not so much. Stuff a cold, starve a flu? :-P
