Hi,
I finally purchased a digital food scale and I am so glad I did. This is silly but I don't eat the bottom crust ofmy bread. Since I count calories I started wondering how many calories I was literally throwing away. According to the nutrition information, a slice of bread is 80 calories for 31g. 2 slices is 62g and 160 calories. My crustless bread was between 48 and 51g. Now I weigh everything. I don't always eat the serving size listed on packaging. Sometimes I want more or less. The scale keeps me honest. I have only had it for about a week so I don't know if it made a difference yet but I will see after my TOM.
I use mine all the time too!
yup i use mine all the time. i've had it for several years.
the beauty of it- after several years, you get better at ballparking things too- so now i can see that a 4oz steak is a 4oz steak and what it looks like. i actually was messing around with my cals the other day, and knew i had a steak cooked, i ballparked it at 4 oz, it was actually 3.8oz when i weighed! woo
I have a great digital scale at home, I really one in the office. Anyone know of a good compact ditigal food scale?
We've had a food scale for a long time that I never really used... always thought that I was good at estimating how many calories I was eating because I was consistently losing weight... But when I hit a plateau and started weighing my food I was pretty surprised to see how much I was off...
I recently just got one that provides nutritional info as well as the weight of food and I'm finding it to be helpful in getting me motivated again... Still a bit of a pain to weigh the food and enter the code to get the nutrition info, but a little less work than having to look it up somewhere else and than have to do the math...
Plus it really has helped getting my portion control skills back on track, because I really was slipping without even realizing it...
Yup, I love my kitchen scale too! It's so much more accurate than measuring by volume.
I have one, simply love it. Makes calorie counting so much more simple!
