UGH many many many grumbles this morning.
food was okay- i mean, i could've eaten less, bla bla bla- but in reality i was probably under 1800 - i did have about half a cup of rice, but i never get that stuff, so it's fine. i went to the studio last night, and that stupid back injury was terrible. i felt weak, light headed, and basically sat out half of the practice. i NEVER sit out postures. my vertabrae hurts, im cranky and grumpy, and the scale was up 1.2 lbs today (im assuming water retention and spine freaking out are the culprits). now i'm at a moral dilemma- i am not sure WHAT aggrivated my spine last night, but it was a TERRIBLE class, i know i shouldn't have an ego, but it was a terrible class. my plan was to go today, take tomorrow off (i can't make it in at all on fridays) and then go saturday morning. i need to cut down on classes, and let the injury rest, but if i don't make it in the studio today, i wont make it till saturday morning. im going to sit on it for the rest of the day- and i keep saying im going to go for a run, but i HATE running. like, i say i'm going to go running, but i never have the motivation to do it. i feel like i always get through week 1 of c25k and then give up lol. maybe i should run and do a workout video. i took a day off on tuesday. UGH SPINE. can i just have a new one?? |

I say, don't push it! The back is hard to recover so take it easy and give it time to recover properly the first time. If it hurts, don't do it. Find something gentle to keep yourself moving forward until you can make further progress without pain. I fight through this every day and have to resort to medications sometimes that make me feel so yucky. If I could have prevented it, I would have. The scales are not my friend. There has been no movement either way for two whole weeks not even by 1/4 pound. I have been exercising like a fiend, but going to try and change my exercise routine next week back to swimming and zumba. This week I have been doing Jillians 30 day shred. I have never had the same weight for two weeks like this before, so frustrating!! Praying for a whooosh!! I am also introducing some dairy into my diet ( I am not a fan, so going to start having some yoghurt) as I read this helps weight loss. Im willing to try anything at this point!
Stimkovs - sounds like your having a rough time of it, your spinal injury sounds horrible. Maybe listen to your body and let it rest a little? |
4star - how does scoliosis get diagnosed? like, I know i have a curvature of the spine, that was revealed by a chiropractor a couple of years ago when i went in for another injury- but chiropractors are just bone crackers, you have to keep going for it to work. have you ever heard of an osteopath? or hellerwork? I was suggested this by some teachers at the studio- i know a lot of the really good ones that have deep practices have done it, it's 11 sessions over 3 months, it's super expensive but it deals with like, physical / stress/ emotional (which i am sure is also affected by the weight loss, so i am contemplating whether this would be worth the investment, as I try to refrain from taking medication as much as possible).
have you ever done anything else except for medication for it? pigginpodgey lol I KNOW, but where there's rest, there's a fridge. that's the inherent danger lol |

Just checking in from the departures lounge. Off on holiday. Have decided to have a maintenance week, rather than a weight loss week, but still nervous about it. Would be great to hear any tips from you all while you're updating on your progress :)

woowhoo toobig!! I guess you and I were both just having crummy weeks!! I haven't weighed in yet, (730am, yes I'm that crazy about weighing in at the same time everyday, but I'm thinking it'll be 166.8ish and that's perfect for me :)

mine was also discovered by x-ray, but i didn't really do much about it. now i am seriously considering the hellerwork- it was recommended by some bikram teachers at my studio, it's exceptionally expensive, but apparently it's a treatment/prevention COURSE that incorporates dealing with stressors, emotions, massage, and allignment. so basically, it's like 1,500 for 10 sessions, lasting 90 mins each. it's holistic which means it deals with like, "emotional issues" pertaining to specific ailments as well. while i know i have scoliosis, i also know that my hips are EXCEPTIONALLY tight. i can't get anywhere NEAR parallel doing a squat because of them- i feel that's still something my body thinks it can't do because its fat. i'm going to do the dr rounds (the family doctor and the sports medicine doctor and see what they say). toobig CONGRATS!! you're tiny. i bet you can almost hand-span your own waist now!! |

Stimkovs- I have only recently heard about hellerwork in a book about dealing with arthritis pain. I haven't heard of it locally so I am not sure if that's available in my area but I'd try just about anything. I have even considered accupuncture. I recently heard on the news about a new FDA approved device that uses light waves for pain relief but it's around $4000 for the device but I think I am gonna start saving up b/c meds help but they always have some sucky side-effect. If I could find anything that works without

4star- i suggest googling it in your area. i am seriously considering it because it is meant to be a lasting solution, as i feel like meds are a bandaid on an issue, and this isnt a papercut that is going to heal, it's a spine issue. you know, you're only as young as your spine, i used to have a beautiful spine that would bend and now, its kind of sucky. there's only one person that does this here but unless the doctors can suggest anything else, this might be the route then.
