I fell off the wagon right after I signed up for the challenge. I haven't ventured back onto the scale after some pizza, homemade mac n cheese and ice cream cake...I will jump on tomorrow morning and see the damage. Today I"m back on track and even hit up the gym....taking it day by day...new goal for the month: track consistently, exercise (gym or my home videos or both) and weigh in...no more head in the sand for me....

The only good part about falling off the wagon is knowing you can jump right back on!! Now you know that it wasn't worth it and you're no where further than where you started!! Will power! It doesn't taste good enough to let it ruin your diet, does it?

There's still plenty of time to make some progress. The most important thing is that you're back at it!

Erin27 06-13-2012 08:51 AM

Thanks ladies! I faced the scale this morning and am back to tracking everything that hits my lips...Will go grocery shopping today and conveniently forget to get ice cream and some of my other triggers....here's to progress this month!

Bridgettedavis 06-13-2012 09:32 AM

179.6 today!!! Rewarding myself with noodles and co for lunch today!!! I'm sure I'll bump back into the 180ies because of it, but every bite with be worth it!!

4star 06-13-2012 10:03 AM

too big-ugh that dreaded TOM...may it take a pound or two with it when it leaves....

envelope and OnlyMe- congrats on seeing the scale move down!

RoyalAthena- Welcome to the challenge!

I am doing fine but not happy with how things are going here. I have had to eat restaurant food and attend some bday celebrations over the weekend but I counted and thought I'd done well. I am up on the scale to 196.0 It has to be water b/c I weighed 193.6 only two days ago. I would normally take this kind of thing in stride but I had a huge letdown this morning and I think it's affecting my perspective.

This morning, I got on the scale and the screen was flickering a bit but it weighed me at 190.2 and I got all stoked on getting out of the 190's, remembering the last time I weighed in the 180s, just :cloud9: ....and then I decided to re-weigh b/c I wanted to see it again....196.0... I don't know. Guess, I'll just have to stay and see what happens...

4star - does your scale need new batteries? I am sure that gain in the last few days is water weight and will leave soon. Don't be down, we will get into the 180s soon!

Erin- ice cream is one of my triggers too.

Bridgette- Congratulations on the 170's!!! I am so jealous...that is my goal for sometime in July.

Been having an interesting week. Started doing a lot more exercise but, as a result, felt very tired & drained, likely due to not eating enough. A big part of this, for me, is getting super fit & hopefully one day entering an amateur triathlon (complete pipe dream since I can't even run or swim for one minute right now!) Anyway, to honour that goal I need to make sure I'm eating enough to stay very active.

So, I'm going to adjust my goal slightly to 6 lbs, and eat a little more, aiming for 1.5 lbs loss a week.

Start: 233.6
Goal: 227.6
Lost: 1.4 lbs
Current: 232.2

Northernrose -
Have you heard of C25K? It is a training program to take you from the Couch to a 5K. If you are able to run for 1 minute now, you can start it. I did it when I first started running and then again last summer and was ABSOLUTELY amazed at how quickly I progressed.

I have and I am more intrigued now you have talked so enthusiastically about it! But I am scared because I just feel too overweight to run right now. I have very weak ankles (prone to turning over, broken a couple of times etc), so don't want to put too much strain on them. Or am I being over-cautious? What weight were you when you started running?! I would love to hear your story!

I also want to swim, but feel too fat for a swimsuit in public right now. So, my motivation for weight-loss is actually getting to a place where I can do more exercise, oddly! Or perhaps I do need to just get over myself!

No, the batteries seem fine now. I did find a random piece of plastic from a clothing tag stuck underneath it so I think that's what was up with the flickering and wonky weigh-in.

4star - amazing how something so small can throw things off. :) I am glad you figured it out.
Northernrose - I think I was in the low 200s when I first did C25K. I have never had ankle issues (knock on wood). I have to figure out how to keep jogging in the winter, because I jog and lose weight in the summer, than gain some back each winter.
As far as swimming do not worry about anyone else. Go and swim!

Dammit, you're right & this was just what I needed to hear. I have a £20 Amazon voucher which should cover a cap & some goggles & I can look for a swimsuit in town this weekend. I will start running when I get to Onederland, hopefully in November/December, and go to the special running shop in town then for ankle support advice. I love this forum. Thankyou enevelope

Bridgettedavis 06-14-2012 08:55 PM

Northernrose, do you run on a treadmill? Don't wait to be in the 100's before you start running-- it's an excuse. You can run. Even if it's just for a minute get on the treadmill and start running!! Run slowly, 4.5mph at first, just make your body move like it's running and you'll be there!!! If you start running before onederland you'll get there much faster!! If someone would have told me I could run 4 miles, 5 months ago I would have laughed my butt off at them, but I can.. and I started running at 265... you got this.

envelope 06-14-2012 09:05 PM

I agree with Bridgette! You can start now. I recently watched an episode of Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition and this man was running at 400Lbs. Go to the running store and get yourself set up for running too.
