Down another couple of pounds. Sometimes I see the results and get really excited & optimistic about my progress. Other days I dwell on how far I've still got to go. Today is definitely a 'other' day, but I'm trying not to let it get me down.

It took years of neglect and overindulgence to reach this point, I have to expect it'll take some time to undo it. So this weekend I'll work on staying positive and on task. Hopefully you all will do the same.

See you next week!

fatbottomed girl, Thanks for posting the above. It's just what I needed to read. ;)

My weight has gone up and down all week and it's really messing with my head. :p:lol: Today I got back to being extra careful with the content of my food, not just the calories.

Feeling refreshed this morning, went for a 6k walk/jog yesterday- jogged 3k, walked 3k. Can't wait to get back into my 5k shape!

That's great - you'll be back in shape in not time!

I lost 1.2 lbs - not great, but I'll definitely take it! It's been a week of trying to get the balance between eating enough to exercise effectively but not so much that my weight loss stalls, so I wasn't expecting a great loss.

It was this week that I really began to feel the grip food used to have on me loosening. Now, when I think about eating, I am suddenly thinking "what can I eat that will give my body the right fuel at the right time?" rather than "what can I eat that will make me feel better emotionally right now?" That's not to say I don't enjoy my food, though :D

Isn't that an amazing feeling??? Knowing you don't need that pizza or cake and you can say no?? Eat to live, don't live to eat!! Proud of you!

No sad faces allowed! :)
You have come so far and lost so much!! Celebrate the success you've had so far and don't let a little regain discourage you!! Just keep on truckin'! Besides, there 11 days left in the month! ;)

Bridgettedavis 06-19-2012 08:44 AM

toobig- you weigh 168 lbs.. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE A 6 IN THE TENS PLACE!!! You should be proud of how far you've come, you have room to go up and down a little bit now don't get down on yourself you've lost almost 100lbs... do you understand how much that is???? 8lbs to your goal... 95 away from your start weight, go look at some old pictures of yourself and be proud of how far you've come!!! :)

As for me today... I stepped on the scale and saw.... 175.4!!! :) :) :) So I've hit my June challange!!! as long as it stays there, I won't be overly shocked if it bumps up a little before the week is over but I think by sunday (my official weigh in day) it should be sitting pretty good at my goal :)

toobig 06-19-2012 06:55 PM

Thanks for the reality check! Sometimes I get too caught up in the scale!

CassiR 06-19-2012 08:41 PM

Hey all. I'm new to this part of the forum! I started Ideal Protein in February and hit my goal of 120 about a month ago. However, entering maintenance and going on vacation at the same time sent the scale up. I struggled sticking to the IP protocol after coming back and decided it wasn't worth the misery anymore. I don't think I was getting enough food and had no energy all the time. I also was not fond of their maintenance program. So I'm here and doing a sort of calorie counting which has made me a LOT happier. I don't like being restricted and I find that now i'm no longer having cravings.

I'm eating mostly whole foods but sticking to a 1200-1400 calorie range. I track my food on caloriecount.about.com and am doing well. I officially started doing this yesterday. I'm currently at 126.4 and hope to be at 124.0 by the end of the month. I'm not in a rush to lose the weight. I just want to become healthier living a "real" healthy lifestyle, no more diet foods for this girl. Also I'm hoping that calorie counting and exercising will help me fit in my clothes better. After all, it's not about the scale anymore! If anyone has any advice please let me know. :)

I am trying to stay active but on IP we did not have to exercise and it was actually recommended to refrain from working out. I've started jogging in place for 20-30 minutes while watching tv at the end of the night and finding it's increasing my energy and endurance. I like this. Eventually i'd like to start actually jogging out on the sidewalk.

We can do this ladies!

stimkovs 06-20-2012 09:07 AM

hi ladies, back on the pony.

guess my little vacation got extended a bit- but i am going back to my old city (ottawa) for canada day!! (july 1st) for a little visit, so time to work hard!!

me too.

i guess it's the magic 100 right?

scares the bajeeebus out of everybody, straight back into the fridge.

just white knuckle through it!!

toobig 06-21-2012 07:45 AM

stimkovs- I guess you are right. This whole weightloss journey has been a head game.

I am back down to 169 this morning. Two days ago I was 174. What the heck? The only thing I have changed is my carb intake. Is it possible that all of a sudden my body has decided to be carb sensitive?

EatMoreCelery 06-23-2012 04:47 AM

toobig, good for you for getting your weight back down but yep that's quite a fluctuation! :dizzy: :)

We're on the last 7-8 days of this challenge already!! :spin:

4star 06-23-2012 08:20 AM

Hi all. Just wanted to update. Still having problems with bloating and in the high 190's. This week I haven't eaten well at all but the weight remains the same as the first few weeks that I did. Hmmm...I don't really know what's going on here but I am going to do this last week at 1400 cals solid and really monitor my portion sizes and make sure I get enough heart-pumping exercise.

RoyalAthena 06-23-2012 09:12 PM

Hey Ladies!
Thanks for the welcome Bridgette and 4star!!

I thought I would check back in. Congrats to all your progress. I have lost 4pounds so far (5 pounds really) I am so tired of the scale. I weighed myself and I know I didn't gain my 1 pound overnight. I eat about 1500-1600 calories a day and I burned (in workouts) about 500-750 calories a day (one time 1250). Anyway, I have to figure something out. Maybe it is the M&Ms...it isn't over my calorie count and it is a treat :( This week since I feel comfortable with the calories I am going to reevaluate the content of my diet. Right now it is just the M&Ms but with those calories I could be eating like 4 pieces of fruit (with skin) which would up my fiber, nutrients and etc. Ummmm, did I just answer my own question! Fruit vs M&Ms...but I don't wanna!!! LOL
I have one week to see what I can do with this challenge (then another week in my 4th of July personal challenge).

Northernrose 06-24-2012 05:14 AM

1 lb this week, which brings me up to one whole stone lost :D

Edited to add: Wow, just reweighed myself & am 228.4! That's a pretty nice morning woosh & means I am down 2.6 lbs! Really odd! Ooh, and I can change my avatar!

Way to go! I say if you can eat treats in moderation and still lose weight, that's the best of both worlds and exactly what most people want to get from calorie counting. :)

4star 06-24-2012 10:20 AM

Well my weight is still hanging in the high 190. I am going to work very hard on making sure I account for every thing I eat. I guess if I can't see some downward progress in a few weeks, I'll see my doc and find out what's going on with me and all of this bloat hanging out in my tummy.

It's really weird as you're obviously an experienced enough dieter to know what you're doing. I'm not an experienced enough dieter to know why you have plateaued, but maybe others will have some ideas. Seeing your doctor sounds like a good plan.

Hi Everyone

I would love to join your group. My name is Marian and I live in Medina Ohio. I hope you continue with a challenge for July. I lost 6 lbs in June and I am very happy about that. I'm trying to keep meals down to 400 calories. So far this strategy has worked. Look forward to ending June strong and going into July with a bang. Marian

4star- I feel you! It is horrible when your body does weird stuff for no reason. Maybe its stress?

teati- Welcome!

stimkovs 06-24-2012 08:06 PM

so glad to see everybody is doing well!

i gained again- but working on it!!

guess its back on the pony. AGAIN.

Bridgettedavis 06-24-2012 11:34 PM

Had a cheat weekend!!! Back up to 177.2 this am, probably at least 179 by tomorrow am... back at my goal of 175 by the end of June!!! Love me a good challenge!!

I don't think it's stress so much(although I've been crazy-busy) but I was thinking that my metabolism may have slowed while I was injured for those few weeks. Perhaps, my wiggle room in my calorie limit decreased and I just have to be more vigilant about sticking to lower cal limits until I get back on track? I really hope it's not stress b/c I am heading into a very stressful week this week, even busier than last week. I am planning some crock-pot meals to keep me from resorting to restaurant foods. I am also making an effort to reduce the added sodium in my diet, just because it's a good idea. I am in the middle of treating some urinary issues so perhaps, that's a contributing factor too? If all else fails, my Doc will know what to do.

tdiprincess 06-25-2012 10:46 PM

Hi all! I think I have yet to join this challenge, which is pretty sad LOL!
Things have been really crazy here and I had a few weeks off the pony. I honestly didn't do too bad since the highest I went was 151, in the past I might of slid even further!
Getting things back in line I'm hovering back at 149.5. I hope to be around 148 by the end of the week. I seem to have gotten my determination back that I needed in order to get those last 8-10lbs knocked out.
So, I know there's only a couple of days left so my goal for the end is 148.5 or 148 and to keep up with my exercise this week!

Keep up the awesome work guys!! :carrot:

Northerrose - how is swimming and c25k going?

Hey those wooshes are great. I had my first one on Sunday.

Not so good with the running & swimming. I tried on a swimsuit in a shop & just did not feel at all confident / comfortable. Also, my bike got stolen last week, so all my money is going on a new one - nothing now spare for a bit for running shoes / swimming fees! It really sucks, but I think the new bike will definitely help me pick up speed with the cycling. The other stuff will come in time! I really do appreciate all the encouragement I get on here, though - it makes a huge difference.

4star 06-26-2012 08:44 PM

Hi all. Just checking in. I have been weighing my foods out and I have been apparently been way off on portions. Time for me to get back to using my kitchen scale so I can see that bathroom scale move!

toobig 06-27-2012 05:22 AM

Good morning everyone!

Been doing lots of work out in the heat and I am very swollen up from fluid retention. 171 this mornig. Should get a big whoosh soon. Hope everyone has a great day!

4star 06-28-2012 07:53 AM

Hi. Back down the mid-190s for no reason at all....I have been taking an antibiotic for a bacterial infection, wonder if that infection was also causing bloat? 3 lbs dropped off within 2 days on meds....but I guess it could just be some random wonky water fluctuation too. I'll have to wait and see what the next few days brings. Eating and exercise are going ok here. :)

gapeach 06-28-2012 10:39 AM

Two days left for the challenge and I am down 6lbs, 4 short of my goal. I suppose I could hope for a big whoosh, but either way I am fairly happy since I had a huge stall this month.

Gonna workout hard the next two days and drink tons of water-lol!

Good luck everyone!

toobig 06-29-2012 06:17 AM

169.5 this morning so it looks like there is no hope of making the June goal. Oh well, there is always July.

Yeah this challenge has been challenging. It definitely gets harder when you get closer to goal.

I am back down to my ticker weight this morning. The bloated tummy has shrunken back down. Looks like I will break even for the month. The antibiotic has seemingly diminished my appetite while taking out the bloat but I doubt any wonders are going to happen overnight. What an odd month!

6 lbs is still good! Every pound is a victory! :carrot:

fatbottomed girl 06-29-2012 10:51 AM

Didn't have the chance to check in last week as we were on vacation, but over the two weeks I'm down 5 pounds! Even after restaurant eating & zero calorie counting (just trying to be good) for almost a week, I'm still down. Phew.

It's so nice to have hit and moved beyond the 20 pounds lost mark. It gives me faith I can actually do this. I still have a long way to go, but to paraphrase the old Virginia Slims campaign: I've come a long way, baby!

EatMoreCelery 06-29-2012 11:20 AM

We're down to the wire here with essentially one full day left in the challenge!! :)

I'm going to come close to goal~
My June Goal

Just a thought~ those of us who are experiencing hot weather may be retaining some extra fluid so don't get discouraged if you're doing everything right but the scales aren't budging! ;)
