A new challenge? 2 part Easter/May Day challenge?

I was just thinking about a new challenge. Easter is coming up in 3 weeks, May Day is in 6 weeks. Is anyone interested in doing a 2 part challenge? Like a 2 phase, 3 week each challenge? I know it seems strange but May Day in 6 weeks seems kind of far away and Easter in 3 weeks seems close. Besides, I (personally speaking) don't want to end a challenge and put it back on with Easter candy so I think it will help keep forward momentum to still have phase 2 out there to move on to....

I am up for another challenge if any one else is in.

Only Me 03-19-2012 09:07 AM

I wasn't around for the start of the St. Patrick's Day challenge, but I'd love to join in on a new one.

Oops, I forgot to set my goals. I want something realistic so I get motivated by hitting it rather than beating myself up when I miss. I want to be under 150lbs by easter and 146lbs by May 1. That's 1lb per week average, which should be attainable. My planned reward: order a fitbit. They look so cool and helpful in motivating me to move around all day.

All In 03-19-2012 09:45 AM

I'd love a challenge! So set goals for phase 1 then phase 2?

stimkovs 03-19-2012 09:51 AM

I am exactly where I was at the beggining of St. Patricks day challange, but dealing with some food issues/ reintegrating "real" foods. Although I did see 169.8 on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, then I proceeded to eat everything and the fridge handle this weekend. On a scale heitus for a couple of days.

I would like to be at 164 for Easter (NO LONGER OVERWEIGHT!!!!) and ultimately to start working away at those vanity lbs for May Day (CMOOOOON 159).

Here is the thing. I was about a size 14 last summer, and bought a tonne of summer clothes. Right now, 8's are becoming big on me. I DO NOT want to buy a whole new summer wardrobe, and then have to re-buy a whole new summer wardrobe again next summer. SO, shrinking time!

Fesibly, if I am good, and all else is citerus paribus, I could be between 158, and 161 on 1649 cals a day. GOGOGOGOGO!!

Good luck chickies!

JEN3 03-19-2012 11:20 AM

Count me in.

Jen3

tdiprincess 03-19-2012 06:35 PM

Count me in as well!
stimkov- I'm sure you'll get there! I too had the get-to-a-low-weight-and-then-blow-it weekend! LOL. Just get back on track and keep goin'!

My goal for Mayday (what is Mayday anyway??) I will google it! anyhow, my goals:
-Get to a range of 146-147.
-Keep exercising hard, but no running right now since my knee is acting up. So Bike rides and elliptical and lots of arm exercise! :D I think doing burpees pushed my knee over the edge. The same thing happened last summer when I was doing burpees during my circuit training. So, no more burpees (which is fine 'cus I hate 'em anyway!) oh and mountain climbers. I think the combo was too much.

Anyway.. later chickies! :carrot:

SparkleBE 03-19-2012 08:30 PM

I’m so ready for a new challenge. Welcome to all the newcomers and welcome back to the regulars! Let’s have a great challenge!

Goals:
Get to 149 by Easter and 147.5 for the end of the challenge.
Exercise 6 days a week

shanhat81 03-19-2012 09:09 PM

I'm in.

Goals:
155 by Easter

May Day's actually my bday, would love to have lost my second 10 percent. So 151.8

JEN3 03-19-2012 11:05 PM

My challenge will be to lose 6 pound by Easter April 8, 2012 and 12 pounds by May Day, May 1, 2012. I'm off to a good start I believe I can do it!

Me an my veggies are good to go! :carrot: :broc::exercise:

toobig 03-20-2012 06:48 AM

I'm in!

Goal 1- Get back on the treadmill at least 2 times a week.

Goal 2- Bounce down to 175 on the scale at least once.

4star 03-20-2012 07:26 AM

Ok well I have eaten pretty poorly this last weekend and am really bloated so like stimkovs I will not take the scale seriously until my weigh-in on Saturday.

My first phase goal is to walk 5-6 times per week and get my calories back on track at 1500-1750. I would like to break 190 for Easter.

My second phase goal is to add more strength training to my routine and get below 186.

So that's 8 ish pounds in 6 weeks. Solid loss but nothing too drastic.

stimkovs 03-20-2012 07:35 AM

tdiprincess you can deffinately hit the 146-147 range!! you are so close, AND i hope your knee feels better! sometimes our bodies hurt because they are telling us to rest and be nice to them!!

shanhat81 you can do it!! you will be gorgeous and skinny by your birthday!!

4star aren't scale breaks fun? i can't decide if they make me happier, or nervous:s

I am adding a new challenge to myself: binge free until easter. today is a new day. and today is day 1.

toobig you can do it. not only will you see the magic number once, but twice!! in fact, you will see it so much that it will stick, and you will whoosh right past it!!

slim n up 03-20-2012 07:38 AM

Here are my goals.

Goal 1: 175 by Easter.

Goal 2: 172 by May Day, and walking at least 2 miles 4 times per week.

Wilma

tdiprincess 03-20-2012 08:52 AM

Stimkovs: Thank you! I have definitely been resting my knee. I plan no running until the end of the Mayday challenge. I think that'll be a challenge in itself! HA! LOL!! But I need to rest it.

:welcome: everyone!

Today I am doing a :carrot: dance!! MIL and I finally had our body fat tested! I'm at 25.5% down from 28%!! I'm still in the "average" range, but I'm super close to "ideal". Sounds so silly! My goal is basically 20%.

Later chickies! :carrot: :carrot:

mags89 03-20-2012 10:50 AM

Hi Guys!

I'm in! Love a good challenge :)

Easter Goal: Lose 7lbs
May Day Goal: Lose 14lbs total!

tdiprincess 03-20-2012 06:08 PM

Stimkovs- The only place I have access is at the gym I belong to. I just went up and asked the one day.

All In 03-20-2012 07:59 PM

Easter: 5 lbs
May day: 10 lbs

Starting weight 256

We can all do this! :)

seaurchin 03-20-2012 08:58 PM

I'm in! I've been hanging around 196 for several weeks and was hoping to be below 190 at Easter (Easter challenge). I don't think I will make it, but I may get close. I will be a little more conservative and hope to reach 185 lbs in May!

toobig 03-21-2012 07:07 AM

Good morning everyone!
179 again this morning so I changed my ticker.
4star- I wish you were here so we could walk together
slim n up- I'd walk with you too

Can you tell I am having trouble finding a work out partner?

slim n up 03-21-2012 07:18 AM

Too Big, I also wish I had a walking partner, but I don't so I walk with Leslie Sansone. LOL. I have a heart condition so that is why only 2 miles a day, 4 day's a week. I may up it as time goes on, but if my heart rate gets way to hight my defribulator will go off. I have had it for nearly 11 years, I got it when I was only 41.

The medicine I am on keeps my heart rate low, low like 49 beats a minute, but for a good reason as the alternative isn't good. So with keeping my heart rate low, my metablism is low also. I am doing this with my DR.'s encouragement so for me it will be slow but hopefully steady.

Have a great day everyone,

Wilma

I need to rearrange my goals for the challenge. I put on a pair of flip-flops day before yesterday and hurt the top of my foot. I have no idea exactly what happened, if I got bit by something that was on the flip-flop or strained a muscle, but it is swollen and red, not to mention painful. I'd go to the doc if I thought there was anything they could actually do except tell me to rest it, which I am already doing....

So anywho, my weight goals will stay the same but my first phase will be working on the strength training. I have free weights and resistance bands I don't use quite enough so I'll make use of those. I'll also do core work and whatever else I can do that doesn't hurt.

The second phase I will work on walking 5-6 days a week with the strength training added in.

Not ideal but life isn't ideal all of the time. I need to do something b/c if I don't the tendency will be to sit and snack while waiting for it to get better. We all know, that's a recipe for disaster and I never want to be above 200 again! :nono:

I walk to music. I use my smartphone and put on Pandora Radio, great music and no commercials. When a few of my favorite songs come on in a row my walk will be over before I knew it began. :)

stimkovs 03-21-2012 09:47 AM

hey chickies,
just a quick check in.

apparently im holding somewhere between 175 and 170. 174.4 today. I can't stop eating!!

I would be okay in maintenance in the late 160's, but not in the mid 170's. I feel bigger, I feel bloated, and it's just been a little bit of a rough patch. I would love to call it a plateau, but it really isn't, it's more of a "sof can't keep her mouth shut long enough to hit the 160s". ya, true store. I sees it? I eats it. Even if I can't see it, I will eat it. It's like insatiable hunger. I am now beggining to be stressed about my looming move, but I am taking it one step at a time, as always.

Baby steps, baby steps. and then a couple of more baby steps.

I have a little itty bitty feeling that I might be obsessing with food, and the colorie counting might be throwing me towards the end of the day- as I am always good all day, and then when I am home, ITS OVER.

tdiprincess 03-21-2012 06:00 PM

stimkov's: I hear ya! I've been trying to get into the 140's for the last 2 months and I just seem to get to 149 and then eat like crazy and then I go back up to 151. UGH! I have heard that your body does tend to fight the weightloss harder at certain points. (not making excuses...LOL).
One thing I was looking at today in an article was to make small daily goals so that even if you eat too much or whatever, you're still doing something right.

so my mini-daily goals for the challenge:
1. Eat 2 pieces of fruit (or more) each day.
2. Get my daily fiber
3. move around each day for 30 minutes. Whether exercise or cleaning, gardening, whatever just move!
4. NO RUNNING for the whole challenge, that's a daily one 'cus I really want to do it!

I find that during the week I do great at these and then the weekend slouches on everything. So I think I'd like to really focus on at least doing these things on Saturdays' and Sundays.

Anyhow, yesterday I ate WAY too much, but I do know that I'm PMSing this week and sometimes I get incredibly hungry. Plus I ate really crappy food the whole day.
Today is a new day though. I started out the day a little down, not sure why prolly PMS junk. But, now I'm feeling better! Food has been much better today and I did the elliptical at the gym for 45 minutes. Then I walked a bit during the morning and afternoon.

Anyhow.. off to see the world! :D Later chickies! :carrot:

All In 03-21-2012 08:07 PM

On plan for the last few days :) Staying under calories and getting a workout each day! 30 minutes jogging on Monday, 20 minutes jogging yesterday, 20 minutes brisk walking today...need to warm up more before I go as my calves are killing me!!

stimkov: coming home is the hardest for me...at work it is easy to eat out of my bag but at home I have the whole kitchen worth of food!! We have a similar starting weight and you are an inspiration to have come so far!!

tdi: during that TOM for me I feel like I can't get enough food! I feel myself being in starvation mode and am completely insatiable!! Good job on the workout and eating today!!

SparkleBE 03-21-2012 08:48 PM

I’m having a good start to the challenge. The weather is so great that I’ve been walking my parent’s dog outside rather than using the treadmill, so that’s been a nice change of pace. I’ve been OP, although my TOM came today and I indulged in a bit more chocolate than I had intended to. Why does chocolate taste even better around my TOM?

All In: Great job on the workouts!
Tdi: I’m glad today turned out better for you than yesterday! And that’s a cool idea, with the daily goals.
Stimkovs: I definitely have those days where I want to eat everything in sight (plus everything in my imagination, too). Just keep up with those baby steps. You can do it!
4star: I’m so sorry your flip flop attacked you :( I hope you feel better soon! Definitely go easy on it for now, and it sounds like you’ve worked out a plan so that’s great!
Slim: Wow, you’re doing great! Keep on doing what you’re doing and slow and steady will win the race :)
Toobig:  I’d walk with you if you were here. My new walking partner is my parent’s dog, but he doesn’t talk and always wants to stop and sniff things. Not really ideal ;)
Seaurchin, Mags, Jiggles: Welcome!

toobig 03-22-2012 07:01 AM

Thanks for the advice on the music. I will try to get something going on my iphone. Any songs that are really good? Is pandora an app?

Slim- Wow! Way to go!
4star- :( poor foot
stimkovs- I have days like that. Sometimes a big pickle helps. I tell myself that if it was "real" hunger even the pickle would sound good.
sparklebe- The weather here is getting better and better too. I froze all winter and it about drove my husband nuts.

Hope everyone has a great day!

slim n up 03-22-2012 07:25 AM

Thanks for all of the GREAT encouragement. Looks like the rest of you have the right, and possitive attitude toward this journey.

Keep going we can all do this.

Wilma

Jiggles81 03-22-2012 09:19 AM

Just checking in! Weight hasn't budged at all over the last couple of days :( Changing from P90x lean schedule to the Classic schedule. I have noticed that my shape is changing, just not my weight....

stimkovs 03-23-2012 08:52 AM

tdiprincess 149 is a good place to be stuck in!!! you can do it. have you tried measuring inches? i'm stuck where...even the inches aren't moving. surprise maintenance!! haha

Only Me 03-23-2012 09:49 AM

I'm down to 150 this morning. I hope it's not a temporary thing.

alwe74 03-23-2012 10:36 AM

If it's not too late, I'd like to join the challenge. My goal for Easter is to lose 5 lbs. and then another 5 lbs. by May Day. This will make my goal weight 219 by May Day.

toobig 03-23-2012 07:11 PM

Started a root canal this morning. Ouch! My wallet is still screaming! :)

Lee NZ 03-23-2012 08:10 PM

May Day Challenge

I'd like to join you if I may, even though its a bit late.

I will just set a target for the 1st May. I'd like to be down to 130 (58.8kgs) by then. I had a set back this week when despite being on plan by weight went up and then stayed there.

Anyway, I need to just continue but I know I need to add in some exercise so I will incorporate that in my May Day challenge too. I'd like to add 30 minutes of exercise daily. An achievable target I hope.

All the very best to you too - I am reading your posts and cheering you on!

Lee :D

toobig 03-24-2012 05:48 AM

:carrot:178 this morning!!!! Creeping back down!!:carrot:

Rose426 03-24-2012 05:05 PM

I hope it's not too late I want to join the challenge!! By Easter I would like to be 195 and by May I would like to be 178...prepregnancy size!! =]

toobig 03-25-2012 08:01 AM
